DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress Video Review

Get up close and personal with the DreamCloud Premier Rest mattress in our in-depth video review! Our reviewer, Marten, will reveal each layer of this bed’s construction and share his experiences with sleeping in every position on this mattress.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress Firmness And Feel

The firmness and feel of any mattress will tell you a lot about whether the bed is suited to your sleep position(s) and other sleep preferences. So let’s take a look at the firmness and feel of the DreamCloud Premier Rest!

How Firm Is The DreamCloud Premier Rest?

We ranked the DreamCloud Premier Rest around 6/10 on the firmness scale. The industry standard for average firmness is 6.5/10, so this suggests the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a bit softer than average. In fact, this is DreamCloud’s plushest mattress. It has a plush pillow-top as well as a thick layer of soft foam.

Sleeping On The DreamCloud Premier Rest

We felt okay but not great while back sleeping on the DreamCloud Premier Rest. While we enjoyed nice pressure relief, we found ourselves craving more spinal support. Lighter-weight back sleepers should enjoy more support.

The DreamCloud Premier Rest felt like a great match for side sleeping. We enjoyed plenty of pressure relief, and we didn’t feel any notable pressure around the shoulder and hip.

A man side sleeps on the DreamCloud Premier Rest

We did not get enough support while stomach sleeping on the DreamCloud Premier Rest mattress. It’s simply too soft to provide adequate spinal support in this position.

What Does The DreamCloud Premier Rest Feel Like?

Overall, the DreamCloud Premier Rest has a bouncy, innerspring feel. It does have a plush pillow-top feel on top, while the coils in the support layer ensure that the mattress stays responsive. It’s not hard to move around and change positions on this bed.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130lbs – 230lbs

Average-weight back sleepers who enjoy a softer feel might fare okay on this mattress, but many folks (particularly those who weigh closer to 230 pounds) will probably require a firmer bed that offers more spinal support. The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a great match for average-weight side sleepers, who should enjoy loads of pressure relief. This mattress is much too soft for average-weight stomach sleepers, who should look for a firmer mattress for stomach sleeping.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

Heavyweight back sleepers won’t get enough support on the DreamCloud Premier Rest. Heavyweight side sleepers who weigh less than 300 pounds should enjoy sleeping on this mattress, while folks who weigh more than that should consider a mattress made for heavy people. The DreamCloud Premier Rest is much too soft for heavyweight stomach sleepers.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

The DreamCloud Premier Rest should be a good match for lightweight sleepers of all stripes. Lightweight back sleepers should enjoy a balance of comfort and support, lightweight side sleepers will enjoy plenty of pressure relief, and even lightweight stomach sleepers could get enough support on this bed. (That said, lightweight stomach sleepers who prefer a firmer feel might want to look elsewhere.)

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress Construction

Let’s pop the hood (or, er, cover) on the DreamCloud Premier Rest and take a look at what’s inside! Below, we’ll detail each layer of this bed’s construction and tell you how different materials could affect the feel of this mattress.

Cover

The top cover on the DreamCloud Premier Rest is made from a soft cashmere blend that’s tufted with high-loft memory foam. This is combined with a 1” layer of soft foam right underneath the tufted cashmere layer, and together these layers make a pillow-top. This creates a very soft feel right on top of the mattress.

Comfort Layers

Underneath its pillow-top, the DreamCloud Premier Rest has a thick (2.5”) layer of soft foam. This adds additional softness and pressure relief to the mattress. Below that, there’s a transitional layer of more supportive foam that helps prevent sleepers from sinking too far into the mattress.

Support Layers

The primary support layer on the DreamCloud Premier Rest consists of 8.5” individually-wrapped coils. These coils give the mattress its bounce and responsiveness. Underneath the coils, there’s a layer of base support foam that maintains the mattress’s overall structure.

Mattress Height

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a bit taller than average at 16” tall. Be aware that this means the mattress will require sheets with deep pockets.

DreamCloud Premier Rest Mattress Performance

We put the DreamCloud Premier Rest through a range of tests to assess its temperature regulation, motion transfer, edge support, and more. Let’s see how it performed!

Sleeping Hot Or Cold

In spite of its thick foam layers, the DreamCloud Premier Rest does a nice job of sleeping cool. That’s thanks to its breathable cover and the coils, which allow air to circulate throughout the center of the mattress.

In general, hybrid and innerspring mattresses do a better job of sleeping cool compared to all-foam beds. That’s because the coils allow for airflow inside the mattress.

Motion Transfer

Because the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a fairly bouncy mattress, it doesn’t perform the best when it comes to motion transfer. Movements could travel across the surface of the mattress, which means sleep partners might feel each other’s movements during the night. Keep this in mind if you’re shopping for a mattress for couples.

Edge Support

In our experience, the edge support on the DreamCloud Premier Rest is not very good. The soft foam layers collapsed when we sat and laid down near the edge of the bed. This means it might not be possible to comfortably utilize the full surface of the mattress during the night. Additionally, people with mobility issues might find it more challenging to get in and out of this bed.

Durability

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is designed to be a luxury mattress that will stand the test of time. With proper care, this bed should last for a minimum of 10 years.

Off-Gassing

We did observe some initial off-gassing from the DreamCloud Premier Rest. This should dissipate within a couple of days.

Noise

At the time of our review, we didn’t observe any noise from the DreamCloud Premier Rest. Because this mattress incorporates coils, it’s possible they could start to squeak a bit down the road.

Sex

As we’ve noted, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is a bouncy mattress. This should make it a good mattress for sexual partners, because they shouldn’t feel stuck in this bed. It should be fairly easy to move around and change positions.

How Does The DreamCloud Premier Rest Compare To Other Mattresses?

The DreamCloud Premier Rest is a luxury mattress from the DreamCloud brand. So how does it compare to the original DreamCloud mattress, and is it worth the added price? We’ve compared these two beds below so you can decide for yourself!

DreamCloud Premier Rest Vs. DreamCloud Mattress

Both the DreamCloud Premier Rest and the original DreamCloud are hybrid mattresses, meaning they layer foam comfort layers over supportive coils. Both beds are fairly bouncy, and it’s easy to move around on either mattress. One key difference? The DreamCloud Premier Rest has more comfort layers than the original DreamCloud. There’s more soft foam on the DreamCloud Premier Rest.

DreamCloud Construction

Because the DreamCloud Premier Rest contains more soft foam than the original DreamCloud, it’s probably not surprising that the DreamCloud Premier Rest is softer overall. We ranked the DreamCloud Premier Rest around 6/10 on the firmness scale (softer than average), while we ranked the DreamCloud around 7.5/10, or firmer than average.

Another difference between these two beds? Price. Because it’s more of a luxury option, the DreamCloud Premier Rest costs more. A Queen-size DreamCloud Premier Rest costs $2,198 at full price, while the same size DreamCloud costs $1,598 at full price.

Who Should Choose The DreamCloud Premier Rest?

  • People who are looking for a luxury mattress
  • Side sleepers who want plenty of pressure relief

Who Should Choose The DreamCloud?

  • People who want a firmer mattress
  • Stomach sleepers
  • Folks who are looking to save money

DreamCloud Premier Rest Vs. Saatva

The Saatva is another extremely popular bed in a box mattress. Like the DreamCloud Premier Rest, it boasts some very supportive coils and a plush pillow top right on top. However, the Saatva features another layer of coils, and the DreamCloud Premier Rest features many more comfort layers.

Saatva Mattress - Construction

When it comes to firmness, you get three options with the Saatva mattress and only one option with the DreamCloud Premier Rest. In our experience, the DreamCloud Premier Rest is just a bit softer than Saatva’s Luxury Firm model. The mattresses do have a somewhat similar feel, but the DreamCloud Premier Rest feels just a bit plusher on top.

Finally, speaking of price, the Saatva is more affordable than the DreamCloud Premier Rest.

Who Should Get The DreamCloud Premier Rest?

  • Those who want a more substantial mattress
  • Fans of plusher mattresses

Who Should Get The Saatva?

  • Those who want firmnesses options
  • Shoppers who are looking for something more affordable
