Best Costco Mattresses: Video Review

How We Chose the Best Costco Mattresses

Our team of Certified Sleep Science Coaches have reviewed over 600 hundred mattresses, using proprietary analysis and hands-on testing to establish easy-to-understand scores. In addition to an overall score, we measure subscores for support, edge support, cooling, motion transfer, durability, trial period, and warranty. Our rigorous testing and reporting process has helped over 4,500 readers purchase the best mattress for their needs.

Mattress testing photos from the studio
Hands-on mattress testing in our sleep lab

When choosing the best Costco mattresses, we considered mattresses currently sold in Costco stores and online. Then, we narrowed our list down by considering the factors above. Since Costco has a limited selection of mattress brands and requires a membership to purchase through their store, we also included alternatives from other online retailers available without a Costco membership.

Best Luxury Costco Mattress – Kirkland Signature Lakeridge Mattress

Pros of the Kirkland Signature Lakeridge Mattress
Cooling and supportive
White glove delivery and old mattress removal included
Medium firmness can suit a wide range of sleepers
Cons of the Kirkland Signature Lakeridge Mattress
Limited sizes available
May be too firm for some side sleepers

Our Expert’s Take

Stearns & Foster, a brand that’s been in the mattress business since 1846, designed the Kirkland Signature as a luxury option that balances cushioning comfort with targeted support. Plus, plenty of cooling upgrades. The top panel of the 14.5-inch hybrid mattress is made with Tencel, a breathable and moisture-wicking natural fabric. Two comfort layers, one gel and one memory foam, offer soft contouring and pressure relief. Just below is a sturdy layer featuring IntelliCoil technology. These individually-wrapped coils respond to your body for support right where you need it.

This combination of materials, along with its medium-firm feel, makes the Kirkland Signature suitable for a wide range of sleepers. It’s only available in Queen, King, and California King sizes, but delivery and set up are included. Costco will even haul away your old mattress and box spring for free.

What We Love About the Kirkland Signature Lakeridge

  • The Lakeridge mattress is just over $1,000 for a queen, which, compared to other high-quality online mattresses, is quite affordable.
  • Purchase of the Signature Lakeridge comes with white glove delivery. This means that professionals will remove your old mattress and set up your new mattress in your bedroom.
  • The cover of this mattress utilizes the same material used in athletic wear, which helps to wick away moisture and keep you cool as you sleep.

What to Keep in Mind About the Kirkland Signature Lakeridge

  • The Signature Lakeridge is a hybrid mattress that the company says lands right in the middle of the firmness scale. This firmness might work for lightweight stomach sleepers, but heavier stomach sleepers will likely need something firmer. For some great options, check out our list of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers.

Pros
The Saatva mattress is a great option for combination sleepers. It is available in multiple firmness options, but the Luxury Firm model works well for multiple sleeping positions.
The Luxury Firm model of the Saatva will work well for most back sleepers. Its balance of comfort and support and zoned construction ensure you’ll sleep in good neutral alignment.
Shoppers looking for a long-lasting mattress will love the Saatva. It feature high-density foam and durable coils that should ensure it lasts for over 10 years.
Cons
If you like the feel of a memory foam mattress, you’re not going to love the feel of the Saatva.

The Saatva is a luxurious hybrid innerspring mattress that should be a great long-term investment. It is available in multiple firmness options, so it should work for the majority of sleeping positions, and its Luxury Firm model is one of the best mattresses for back sleepers. However, lightweight side sleepers and fans of memory foam should look elsewhere. Learn more in our video review.

If you aren’t a Costco member, the Saatva Classic is a good alternative to the Kirkland Signature. It’s one of the most popular online luxury hybrid mattresses, combining a soft yet stable Euro pillow top with pocketed coils for contouring and support. The Saatva Classic also allows you to choose between several height and firmness options. The Luxury Firm comfort level of the Classic likely comes closest to the medium firmness of the Kirkland Signature, but it may veer a little firmer if you have a lighter bodyweight that doesn’t compress the materials as much.

When we tested the Saatva Classic, we loved its traditional innerspring feel that’s both responsive and cushioning. We found that its breathable organic cotton cover helped prevent the top of the mattress from retaining too much heat. Like the Kirkland Signature, the Saatva Classic should be a good fit for many hot sleepers.

Saatva also offers white glove delivery and old mattress removal. The company also has a 365-day sleep trial, which gives you plenty of time to decide if the mattress is right for you. On the downside, all refunds or exchanges during the trial period have a $99 transportation fee.

Best Affordable Costco Mattress- Comfort Tech

Pros of the Comfort Tech Serene
Inexpensive
CertiPUR-US certified
Two firmness choices
Cons of Comfort Tech Serene
May sleep too warm for some people
May not be supportive enough for some kinds of sleepers
No white glove delivery available

Our Expert’s Take

This affordably priced foam mattress comes in standard sizes from Twin to California King. Two foam layers are intended to deliver comfort, support and durability. On the top layer, comfort foam uses microscopic air bubbles for uplifting and pressure-relieving support. It also isolates motion well to minimize nighttime disruptions. The high-resiliency support foam below adds stability, structure, and additional support to keep you comfortable in different sleep positions.

While the Comfort Tech Serene mattress has a moisture-wicking cover, it lacks the natural breathability of a hybrid mattress. On the plus side, the mattress comes in a choice of two firmnesses (medium and firm). The foam layers are CertiPUR-US-certified, which means they don’t contain toxic materials. It’s also made in America. Pricing is affordable compared to industry standards, too. A Queen-size Comfort Tech Serene mattress costs less than $500, even before Costco discounts.

What We Love About the Comfort Tech

  • The Comfort Tech mattress is available in two firmness options: Medium and Firm. This is great news for back sleepers and stomach sleepers. If you sleep on your back, the Medium version of the Comfort Tech should provide a good blend of comfort and support. For stomach sleepers, the Firm version will likely do a better job of keeping your hips from sinking below the surface.
  • Memory foam has a slow-moving feel that many people enjoy. Rather than sleeping on top of the mattress, you may feel like you’re being hugged by the mattress.

What to Keep in Mind About the Comfort Tech

  • All-foam beds tend to trap heat more than other types of beds. If you easily overheat at night, the Comfort Tech might make the problem even worse. Instead, consider a hybrid mattress, which is more likely to be breathable.
  • Another quality of memory foam mattress that might be a problem for you is its lack of responsiveness. Foam is not always easy to move around on, and so if you typically change from one sleeping position to another you might find it hard to do so on this mattress.

Couples
This bed absorbs motion well for a hybrid mattress, so couples shouldn’t notice their partner’s movements.
Pros of the Helix Midnight Mattress
The Helix Midnight mattress is a fantastic choice for back and side sleepers. It’s a perfect medium-firm mattress that offers a lot of comfort from the foam at the top with supportive coils at the bottom.
This mattress shouldn’t trap too much heat thanks to the coils, which allow for airflow. You also have the option to add a specialized cooling cover.
Hybrid mattresses can be bouncy and disturb others who are in bed, but the Helix Midnight absorbs motion very well for this type of mattress.
Cons of the Helix Midnight Mattress
This mattress is too soft to support stomach sleepers. The hips will dip into this bed over time, which can cause strain on the lower back.
While this bed absorbs motion well, it’s still a hybrid. If you don’t want that bouncy, coil feeling to your mattress, you should look for an all-foam bed.

The Helix Midnight is Helix’s most popular model because of its medium-firmness and works well for back and side sleepers. The top layers of foam provide good pressure relief, but the coils offer a good amount of support. It won’t trap heat thanks to those coils, and you can even opt for a cooling cover. Be sure to watch our video review to learn more about the Helix Midnight.

While the Helix Midnight is a reasonably priced mattress for its quality, it’s not as cheap as the Comfort Tech Serene. A Queen-size Helix Midnight is priced at just under $1,000, but it does offer better durability and a 10-year warranty.

This medium-firm hybrid mattress is Helix’s most popular model. It offers a similar balance of comfort and support as the Comfort Tech serene, as well as excellent motion isolation. That’s due in part to up to 1,000 individually wrapped coils. Reinforced coils down both lengthwise sides give the mattress support all the way to the edge.

Hot sleepers should appreciate the enhanced breathability of this hybrid construction. Soft and cushioning foams in the uppermost layers are cradling and supportive, making this mattress a great option for side sleepers in particular.

Best Costco Mattress for Back Sleepers – Beautyrest Silver

Pros of the Simmons Beautyrest Silver
Excellent motion isolation
Designed to minimize heat retention for cooler sleep
Reasonably priced
Cons of the Simmons Beautyrest Silver
No choice of firmness
Limited mattress sizes available
May be too firm for some people

Our Expert’s Take

The Beautyrest Silver is a hybrid, medium-firm mattress and one of the brand’s most affordable options. It’s designed to actively cool you down with moisture-wicking fabric in the cover and gel-infused memory foam in the comfort layer. Just below, pocketed coils offer flexible support while also isolating motion transfer.

The combination of materials delivers the pressure-relieving comfort of memory foam without retaining excessive heat, which can be an issue in many memory foam mattresses. The medium-firm feel and contouring gel layer mean excellent lumbar support, making this a good mattress for back sleepers in particular.

Costco offers free white-glove delivery for the Beautyrest Silver, and removal of your old mattress is also included.

What We Love About the Beautyrest Silver

  • This mattress is very affordable. It costs just over $600 for a queen.
  • The Beautyrest Silver has a medium-firm feel that works very well for back sleepers. It should do a great job of letting your hips sink into the mattress just enough for pressure to be relieved, but not so much that your spine is thrown out of alignment.
  • A layer of pocketed coils in the Beautyrest Silver helps keep things from overheating at night, as it promotes breathability and allows body heat to easily pass out of the mattress.

What to Keep in Mind About the Beautyrest Silver

  • Side sleepers will likely want to seek out a softer mattress. When you sleep on your side, you want your shoulders and hips to sink below the mattress surface, so that these sensitive areas can be sufficiently cushioned. As such, you’ll want a mattress with a good amount of give. Check out our list of the best mattresses for side sleepers for some good options.

Pros of the DreamCloud
It is a good option for back sleepers. While it is a bit firmer than average, its balance of comfort and support will keep the spine in neutral alignment.
You shouldn’t be sleeping too hot on this mattress. The breathable cover, gel-infused foam, and airflow-promoting coils should prevent the mattress from trapping heat.
You should never feel stuck in this mattress. The DreamCloud is bouncy and responsive, so you will have no trouble moving around and changing positions.
The DreamCloud is a good value option. Hybrid mattresses can be quite pricey, but the DreamCloud is surprisingly affordable.
Cons of the DreamCloud

Fans of the slow-moving memory foam feel won’t get that feeling on the DreamCloud.

The DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress that offers great support for back sleepers and nice cooling for hot sleepers. Its mix of foam and coils ensures you get the right amount of support, while its breathable materials ensure you don’t sleep too hot. It is a bouncier mattress, and if you prefer more of a memory foam feel, consider the Nectar mattress. Learn more in our video review.

The DreamCloud is another good mattress for back sleepers. This hybrid mattress combines high-quality materials, including a cashmere-blend cover, gel-infused memory foam, and individually-wrapped coils, for a better night’s sleep. It has a medium-firm feel and plenty of lumbar support for back sleepers, who will also benefit from the gentle cushioning around their hips.

On the downside, the DreamCloud doesn’t isolate motion particularly well, so it may not be the best choice for couples who are easily disturbed. And while it’s on the affordable end for hybrid mattresses compared to industry standard, it’s more expensive than the Beautyrest Silver.

DreamCloud does offer a generous 365-day sleep trial and a lifetime warranty, though, so you can try it for yourself risk-free.

Best Hybrid Costco Mattress – Brentwood Home Simply Modern

Pros of the Simply Modern mattress
Hybrid construction for balanced support and comfort
CertiPUR-US certified foams
Affordably priced
Cons of the Simply Modern mattress
No choice of firmness
No choice of height
Limited sizes available

Our Expert’s Take

The Simply Modern mattress is constructed like a luxury hybrid for a third (or less) of the price. The mattress has four layers of foams and coils. Gel-infused memory foam helps dissipate heat, isolate motion, and relieve pressure point pain by evenly distributing your weight against the mattress. In the contouring support layer, up to 975 individually wrapped coils respond to your movements and encourage airflow.

The mattress is made with CertiPUR-US certified non-toxic foams, a naturally-derived fire barrier instead of chemical flame retardants, and uses recycled steel in its coils making it a great mattress without fiberglass. It has a medium-firm feel that works well for different kinds of sleepers. Plus, the Simply Modern mattress comes with an Infinity Warranty that protects against defects for the entire time you own it. On the downside, the mattress is only available in Queen, King, and California King sizes.

What We Love About the Brentwood Home Simply Modern

  • Despite its affordable price point, this mattress has a high-quality hybrid construction. Hybrids tend to have great durability—in fact, if properly cared for a hybrid mattress can last for upwards of ten years.
  • Above the layer of coils in this hybrid mattress is a layer of comfort foam and a layer of cooling memory foam. The cooling memory foam is infused with gel which helps to dissipate body heat.

What to Keep in Mind About the Brentwood Home Simply Modern

  • This mattress is only available in three sizes: Queen, King, and California King. So, if you’re shopping for a smaller mattress, you’re out of luck.
  • The Brentwood Home Simply Modern is a medium-firm mattress. As previously mentioned, stomach sleepers tend to prefer a mattress on the firmer side, and side sleepers do best on a softer mattress.

For couples looking for motion isolation, though, this probably isn’t the best choice. Instead, check out the Nectar Premier Copper. Learn more in our video review.

The Winkbed is a popular hybrid mattress sold in four firmness levels, including a model specifically designed for heavier sleepers. The range of options makes this a great option for different kinds of sleepers.

The WinkBed is made with a Euro-style pillow top, which gives it a plush, cushioning feel. CertiPUR-US certified, gel-infused foam in this layer helps with cooling. The cover of the mattress is made with Tencel, a naturally-derived material that is both breathable and moisture-wicking. In the support layer, individually-wrapped coils are zoned for greater support in the center of the mattress, right where sleepers need it most.

The 14-inch mattress comes with a 120-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty.

Best Memory Foam Costco Mattress – Novaform

Pros of the Novaform
Reasonable price point
Gel-infused for cooler sleep
Choice of three firmness levels
Cons of the Novaform
Limited sizes available
No white-glove delivery available
Poor edge support

Our Expert’s Take

This 14-inch gel memory foam mattress is designed to combat heat retention while still offering the contouring benefits of this material. The cover is made with temperature-regulating fabric that feels cool to the touch, while the uppermost comfort layer is made with gel-infused memory foam to nix body heat build-up. The support and base layers add support and stability. While the memory foam isolates motion nicely, it is lacking in edge support. That can be an issue for sleepers who like to stretch out in bed or people who need a sturdy surface to help them get in and out of bed.

The mattress is available in Queen, King, and California King sizes only. Choose from plush, medium, and firm options to customize the support layer and best accommodate your preferred sleep style. Back and stomach sleepers will benefit from the medium and firm support levels, while side sleepers and fans of ultra-soft mattresses should do well with the medium and plush options.

The Novaform uses CertiPUR-US certified foams and comes with a 20-year warranty.

What We Love About the Novaform

  • The Novaform mattress has handles. This might seem like a small thing, but if you’ve ever tried to rotate or move a mattress without handles you probably know how frustrating it can be.
  • The Novaform is available in three firmnesses: Plush, Medium, and Firm. One of these three firmnesses will almost certainly work for your sleeping preferences and body type.

What to Keep in Mind About the Novaform

  • Quite a few of the customer reviews call out the Novaform for poor edge support. This might be a problem for you, particularly if you sleep towards the perimeter of the mattress, as the edges might sag under your weight.

The Nolah Original is an all-foam mattress that feels softer than average. It contains proprietary AirFoam, which is more breathable than traditional memory foam. For this reason, it works well for hot sleepers. This mattress offers plenty of pressure relief for many side sleepers, but it may not be supportive enough for some back and stomach sleepers. Watch our Nolah mattress review video.

The Nolah Original is a foam mattress sold for a value price. It’s made with a foam that the brand calls AirFoam. It’s similar to memory foam in terms of pressure relief, but it’s very responsive and doesn’t retain heat in the same way as a traditional foam mattress. Unlike the Novaform, the Nolah mattress doesn’t come with a choice of comfort levels.

It has a medium-firm feel and accommodates both back and side sleepers nicely, with plenty of lumbar support and cushioning. It also offers reasonable edge support for an all-foam mattress. The Nolah Original mattress comes in standard sizes from twin to California king. It has a 120-night home trial and a lifetime warranty that covers manufacturing defects.

Best Costco Mattress for Heavyweight Sleepers – Sealy Posturepedic

Pros of the Sealy Posturepedic
Cooling design
Excellent edge support
Good motion isolation
Cons of the Sealy Posturepedic
No choice of firmness
Limited sizes available
No white-glove delivery available

Our Expert’s Take

The Sealy Posturepedic is a popular mattress with a balanced foam feel. It has a hybrid construction, active cooling upgrades, and durable coils that offer support from edge to edge, which makes it a good choice for sleepers who weigh over 230 lbs. The mattress has a medium feel, so it’s a good compromise for couples with different ideas of comfort. Keep in mind that body weight affects how firm a mattress feels, so heavier sleepers may find it’s on the softer side.

Hybrid mattresses generally circulate air better than all-foam mattresses, and the Sealy Posturepedic takes cooling even further with its knit cover. It’s made with cool-to-the-touch fibers. It’s also finished with a protective coating to protect against stains and odors.

The mattress offers impressive edge support thanks to a greater number of encased coils around the perimeter. That makes it easier to get in and out of bed while also maximizing the sleep surface, another feature heavyweight sleepers might appreciate.

What We Love About the Sealy Posturepedic

  • This mattress earned a 4.5 out of 5 on our cooling test. The layer of coils keeps things breathable, and the gel memory foam aids in dissipating body heat. On top of it all is a cover woven with cooling fibers, so the layer in direct contact with your body is cool to the touch.
  • Unlike the Novaform, the Sealy Posturepedic has fantastic edge support. If you use the mattress perimeter to support your weight, whether you’re sitting or sleeping, this is great news for you.

What to Keep in Mind About the Sealy Posturepedic

  • The Sealy Posturepedic has a classic hybrid feel, meaning it’s quite bouncy and responsive. If you prefer a mattress with a cloud-like, doughy feel then you might be better off with a memory foam mattress. Also, a foam mattress will be better at isolating motion if you sleep with a partner.

This mattress has a thick comfort layer and sturdy coils that can handle heavier weights.
Pros of the Plank Firm
It has a flippable design, so you can easily change its firmness level by turning the mattress over.
It’s the firmest mattress we have tested, so if you need a lot of spinal support, this is a good option.
It works well for stomach sleepers because it helps keep hips elevated and in the correct alignment.
Cons of the Plank Firm
This mattress is too firm for most side sleepers.
Because it’s made entirely out of foam, it tends to trap body heat.

The Plank Firm mattress is one of the most supportive mattresses on the market. It has a flippable design, with two firmness levels in one. On our firmness scale, the the softer side feels like a 8/10 and the firmer side feels like a 9/10. Both sides tend to work well for stomach sleepers, but most side sleepers won’t get enough pressure relief on this bed. Watch our video review to learn more.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress to ensure the hips don’t sag, which can put pressure on the lower back. In that case, the Plank Firm is a great option. It’s a flippable foam mattress with two options: firm and extra firm. Body weight affects how firm a mattress feels, so heavier sleepers might enjoy the options in this two-in-one mattress.

Side sleepers in any weight group will likely find the Plank far too firm. It lacks cushioning, so there’s no “give” around the shoulders and hips. It also doesn’t isolate motion particularly well, either. The Plank isn’t the most breathable mattress, but there is an optional upgrade to a cooling cover, however, which can help prevent overheating.

Best Costco Mattress for Side Sleepers – Leesa Legend

Pros of the Leesa Legend
Excellent lumbar support for back sleepers
Good pressure relief for side sleepers
Sleeps cool
Cons of the Leesa Legend
Lacks support for stomach sleepers
May be too soft for some people
Lacks the slow-moving feel of memory foam

Our Expert’s Take

Side sleepers need a mattress that’s supportive enough to maintain spinal alignment, but soft enough to cradle the hips and shoulders. These spots may lead to pressure point pain on surfaces that don’t offer enough “give.” The Leesa Legend is an all-foam mattress with a balanced feel. It’s soft, thanks to a bouncier upper foam layer, but contouring, thanks to the memory foam in the second layer. The combination is ideal for most side sleepers.

The upper layer responds quickly and is designed for breathability, so you shouldn’t get excessively warm during the night. But if you love the slow-moving feel of memory foam, you won’t find that here. Below the comfort layers is a firm, durable polyfoam that boosts support and stability. Together, these layers make the Legend a great option for side sleepers.C

There are a few drawbacks worth keeping in mind. The mattress offers decent motion isolation, but it’s lacking in edge support. You can test the Leesa Legend to see if it works for you with a 100-night sleep trial.

What We Love About the Leesa Legend

  • Despite not being as soft as other mattresses for side sleepers, the Leesa Legend provided us great pressure relief as we tested it on our sides. Our shoulders and hips sank comfortably into the mattress, and we felt no achiness in these areas after we tested.
  • The Leesa Legend has solid motion isolation. If you sleep with a partner, this means that you’ll be less likely to be disturbed by the movements they make on their side of the bed.

What to Keep in Mind About the Leesa Legend

  • The Leesa Legend likely won’t be supportive or firm enough for most stomachs, especially heavyweight stomach sleepers. If you fall into one or both of these categories, head over to our list of the best firm mattresses for some good options.
  • The edges of the Leesa Legend aren’t very strong. If you spread out to the far reaches of the bed while you sleep you should seek out a mattress with a stronger perimeter.

Pros of the Bear Elite Hybrid
This mattress offers great value. It’s made with high-quality materials and backed by a lifetime warranty, but available at a relatively affordable price point.
It comes with excellent edge support. The Bear Elite Hybrid’s sturdy perimeter is helpful if you need a stable surface to get in and out of bed.
The bed’s cover and foam layers contain cooling materials to help regulate your body temperature. Its coil layer also promotes plenty of airflow to keep you cool.
Cons of the Bear Elite Hybrid
Doesn’t do the best job of isolating motion.
Likely not supportive enough for sleepers who weigh over 230 lbs.

The Bear Elite Hybrid is Bear’s most high-end mattress. It offers luxury features, like zoned support and extra height, while still offering the temperature regulation Bear mattresses are known for. Based on our testing results, we’d recommend this mattress to average-weight side and back sleepers, as well as hot sleepers. If you’re looking for a cheaper option, check out the Bear Star Hybrid. Learn more in our video review.

This luxurious hybrid mattress comes with a choice of three firmness levels. Like the Leesa Legend, it has a balanced foam feel, but the addition of a zoned coil layer makes it more responsive and supportive. Side sleepers will appreciate this support system, which helps cushion the hips and shoulders to prevent pressure point pain.

It’s also a cooler pick if you’re a hot sleeper. Copper-infused memory foam helps minimize heat retention and adds antimicrobial benefits for a cleaner mattress. The mattress has a 120-night sleep trial and a lifetime warranty.

Best Cooling Costco Mattress – Sleep Science Bamboo Cool Mattress

Pros of the Sleep Science Bamboo Cool Mattress
CertiPUR-US certified
Zip-off, machine-washable cover
Designed for cooling sleep
Cons of the Sleep Science Bamboo Cool Mattress
No choice of firmness
Limited sizes available
No white-glove delivery available

Our Expert’s Take

This Sleep Science mattress is an all-foam option constructed with cooler nights in mind. Bamboo charcoal-infused memory foam absorbs moisture and dissipates odor, while the gel-infused memory foam helps minimize heat retention. Air channels in the base layer also improve airflow, which can be an issue in all-foam mattresses.

The mattress also features Wedge edge support. This is designed to reinforce the perimeter to improve edge support—another issue that often plagues foam mattresses—while also extending the life of the mattress. There’s also a zipper sewn into the top half of the mattress. You can remove the cover for easy cleaning right at home, which isn’t a common feature in mattresses.

One drawback to the Sleep Science mattress is its limited sizing. It’s only available in Queen, King, and California King sizes.

What We Love About the Bamboo Cool Mattress

  • This mattress is advertised as being firm by the company. A firm mattress will be a good fit specifically for two types of people: stomach sleepers and heavyweight folks. Both of these groups needed extra support to keep them from sinking too far below the mattress surface.
  • The cooling features in this mattress are quite impressive. Constructed with air channels for breathability, and gel memory foam and bamboo charcoal for heat dissipation, those who dislike sleeping hot should have no trouble staying cool on this mattress.

What to Keep in Mind About the Bamboo Cool Mattress

  • Side sleepers and lightweight back sleepers will likely need a softer mattress, something that will allow them to sink into the mattress a fair bit. A too-firm mattress will keep side sleepers from getting adequate pressure relief around their shoulders and hips, and lightweight back sleepers will find that a firm mattress keeps their hips uncomfortably propped up.

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe offers a responsive surface great for combination sleepers. It’s also a good choice for hot sleepers looking for a bed that can keep them cool but that’s available in a wide array of sizes. Learn more in our video review.

If cooler sleep is the goal, the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora is a good option. It’s one of the coolest mattresses on the market, thanks to a breathable cover and gel-infused foam. The mattress has a TitanCool cover, which is soft and breathable with a cool-to-the-touch feel. It also helps dissipate heat. The upper layers are infused with copper and gel for additional heat dissipation. Finally, the support layer of zoned coils encourages airflow.

All together, the layers in the Brooklyn Bedding Aurora do a great job of preventing overheating throughout the night. But the company didn’t sacrifice comfort or support in the process. This hybrid is a responsive and supportive mattress that’s easy to move around on. You can put it to the test at home with a 120-day sleep trial.

What to Consider When Buying a Costco Mattress

Buying a mattress is a big commitment, so what should you consider before purchasing one from Costco? You asked and we answered below.

Discounted Prices

One of the reasons people go to Costco is the savings and deals, and the mattress prices are no exception. Costco runs an efficient warehouse operation and buys its mattress stock in bulk, so the retailer can negotiate deals and pass savings onto members. Plus, Costco furnishes its own mattress brands, like Kirkland Signature, that are decent in quality but less pricey.

Best Time to Buy a Mattress at Costco

Although Costco is known for having top brands and products at special, members-only prices, the retailer isn’t immune to the holiday sale extravaganza every few months. Holidays such as Black Friday and President’s Day are typical times that offer big savings.

Limited Options

Your buying options will be more limited if you shop at Costco. For example, even among the brands they do carry, you won’t be able to hand-pick the exact Casper mattress model you’ve been eyeing, as Costco only carries the store-exclusive Casper Select. Despite the limited selection of brands and bed models, Costco does a solid job offering a range of beds, including memory foam and innerspring mattresses, to suit many sleep styles and fit diverse bed frames. However, you won’t find beds made with some of the most luxurious, durable materials, such as latex.

Shopping Online Versus In-Store

Speaking of limited options, looking for a mattress in-store versus online may further limit the selection of mattresses available at Costco. In addition, as compared to shopping at a traditional brick-and-mortar mattress retailer, the beds probably won’t be readily available to test. Costco products, especially large ones like mattresses, are likely to be stashed in the sky-high shelving of the warehouse.

Costco Mattress Shipping and Delivery Policy

If you do opt for Costco’s online mattress shop in favor of shopping at the warehouse, Costco will deliver the mattress to your doorstep. The average estimated delivery time varies: it can be anywhere from 5-7 to business days to 2-4 weeks after you purchase. The delivery fee is included in the shown price on their website, and they utilize UPS ground shipping.

Costco Mattress Return Policy

Costco has a risk-free, 100% satisfaction guarantee policy, which includes mattresses. If you purchase a mattress from Costco, you are able to return it to any one of their 800 locations or online. Nevertheless, we always recommend that you read the fine print, including but not limited to the return policy, before you buy.
