What Do the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Feel Like?

Because this set of sheets is constructed with the sateen weave, they will feel much softer than sheets made with the percale weave.

The sateen weave leaves sheets feeling buttery smooth and they have a sheen when dressed on your bed, whereas percale sheets feel much crisper and look matte.

But because these are made with organic cotton, they will still feel familiar to cotton lovers out there.

Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Materials

Saatva uses high-quality, organic long-staple cotton to construct its sheets. The cotton has also been certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) and is Fair Trade Certified.

These certifications mean that the cotton has been grown in a safe and socially responsible way, and is also free of harmful chemicals.

They have a 300 thread count, which is a lower thread count. However, because thread count just refers to the number of threads woven into a square inch of fabric, this lower number will make this set fairly breathable.

RELATED: The Best Thread Count for Sheets

Sateen sheets with higher thread counts tend to retain more heat. Coupled with cotton’s natural breathability, these sheets shouldn’t trap heat.

What to Consider Before Buying

So, I’ve gone over some of the technical aspects of these sheets. Let me tell you about my experience with the Saatva sateen sheets!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Sateen sheets have a tendency to retain heat more than their percale counterparts. However, with cotton’s natural breathability, and Saatva’s sheets featuring a lower thread count, they don’t trap heat as some higher thread count cotton sateen sheets.

I’m a textbook hot sleeper. It can take me a while to cool down before I finally fall asleep. But I’m happy to report that after I cooled down, the Saatva sheets kept me at a comfortable temperature throughout the night.

I think these could be a great option for year round use if you live in warmer climates or tend to run hot throughout the night.

Care Instructions

The Saatva organic sateen sheets have easy care instructions! You can machine wash these sheets. Saatva recommends a cold water wash cycle with like colors. Avoid using bleach while washing.
From there, you can transfer them to the dryer and tumble dry on low.

Allergies

Saatva doesn’t market this product as a hypoallergenic product. However, Saatva uses certified organic cotton, and I don’t imagine it triggering allergies.

Company Policies

Here’s what you can expect when you purchase the organic sateen sheet set from Saatva.

Set Includes

For this review, I received the queen-sized set.

This set included:

  • A flat sheet
  • A fitted sheet
  • Two pillowcases

Saatva sells this set ranging from twin to split king sizes. The twin and twin XL sizes only come with one pillowcase, while the king sized sets will include two king-sized pillowcases.

Return Policy

You have 45 days to test out the Saatva sateen sheets. This effectively acts as a sleep trial. During this time, you can make free exchanges or returns for a full refund.

If you decide to keep your Saatva sheets, they come with a one-year limited warranty. So, they should last that long, if not more, with good care.

How Do the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets Compare to Other Sheets?

When looking at bed sheets, it’s always good to keep your options open. Let’s compare Saatva’s sateen sheets to a few other options on the market.

Saatva vs Parachute

When looking at ways to construct sheets, there are two weave styles: the percale weave and the sateen. Saatva uses the sateen weave to construct its sateen sheets, while Parachute uses the percale.

The main difference between these weave styles is in the feel. Saatva’s sheets feel very smooth and soft, while Parachute’s will feel much crisper, like a freshly pressed shirt. Parachute also uses Egyptian cotton in its sheets, while Saatva uses organic cotton.

Both sets of sheets have deep pockets and can fit mattresses up to 16” tall. Most beds range from 8” to 14” tall, so these deep pockets mean the fitted sheet should stay put!

Parachute has eight color options to choose from, while Saatva only has three.

Who Should Get Saatva?

  • People who prefer softer, smooth feeling cotton sheets
  • People looking for an eco-friendly set of sheets

Who Should Get Parachute?

  • Fans of crisp, cotton sheets
  • Anyone looking for color variety

Saatva vs Puffy

One other popular material to make sheets is bamboo. Puffy uses 100% bamboo viscose to construct its sheets. The main difference here is that bamboo tends to feel much softer than cotton and has a silkier, smoother feel.

Both sheet sets are constructed with the sateen weave, so they feel very soft and smooth. Both Puffy and Saatva offer these sheets in limited color options. Both also feature deep pockets, so the fitted sheet should stay on your bed.

In terms of price, Puffy’s are more budget friendly. However, if you’re looking for that hotel look and feel to your sheets, Saatva’s are a great luxury option.

Who Should Get Saatva?

  • Fans of cotton sheets
  • Anyone in the market for a more luxurious set of sheets

Who Should Get Puffy?

  • Fans of bamboo sheets
  • Budget minded shoppers

FAQs

Let’s answer some of the most frequently asked questions on the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets.

Where are Saatva sheets manufactured?

Saatva manufactures its sheets here in the United States! If you prefer home-grown, home-made products, then these are a great option. Saatva also has a Fair Trade Certification on these sheets. This certification means the sheets were produced with strict sustainability standards and responsible working conditions for employees.

Are sateen sheets good quality?

Yes! Sateen sheets are a good option for people who prefer sheets to feel super soft and smooth. Sateen sheets don’t wrinkle as much as percale sheets, too. Their weave style can retain heat a little better, which can be either a pro or a con. If you sleep in a colder climate, or tend to run cold, this type of sheets should be something to consider. Saatva’s sheets are a good year round option because of the lower thread count and cotton’s breathability.

How long will the Saatva Organic Sateen Sheets last?

If you use them every day, all year round, with good care, Saatva’s sheets should last you around two years. These sheets use long-staple cotton, which means the cotton fibers are longer and therefore more durable.
