Titan is a Brooklyn Bedding mattress collection specifically designed to meet the needs of larger people. The Titan Plus Elite is the highest-end model in the lineup. It’s a supportive hybrid with a medium-firm feel, which can be tricky for heavier sleepers to find. I’m a bigger guy myself (6’7” and 270 lbs), so I know how important it is to find the proper comfort and support. Could this be the best bed for you?
To answer that, I put this mattress through a series of tests with an eye to its firmness, support, cooling ability, responsiveness, and more. Keep reading my Titan Plus Elite mattress review to see how it stacks up.

I Recommend The Titan Plus Elite For…
- Heavyweight sleepers. It’s made with reinforced coils and high-density foam, which are both meant to handle extra weight without sagging or buckling.
- Combination sleepers. It has a medium-firm feel that works well for most back and side sleepers. It’s also bouncy, which means it’s easy to move around on.
- Hot sleepers. Two sets of coils and a cooling pillow top promote airflow and actively wick away heat.
I Don’t Recommend The Titan Plus Elite For…
- Lightweight sleepers. This mattress is made for heavyweight sleepers, so lightweight sleepers will find it too firm.
- People who like a slow-moving feel. There’s definite bounce in the Titan Plus Elite, which won’t appeal to those who like a body-contouring sensation.
- Couples. This mattress doesn’t isolate motion very well. If you share a bed with a partner, you might feel their movements on your side of the bed.
Titan Plus Elite Mattress Test Performance: My Overall Rating
We assess mattresses based on specific metrics to assess their overall performance. The Titan Plus Elite earned an overall rating of 4.3/5, with top marks in support, response, and durability. Keep reading for the category breakdown, or hover over each circle below for more details on individual categories.
Titan Plus Elite Performance in Our Tests
Support – 5/5
When support is described in relation to a mattress, it’s a reference to how well its layers keep the spine aligned. As expected for a mattress designed for more weight, the Titan Plus Elite does not lack support. The combination of TitanCore coils and microcoils held my body comfortably with zero issues when I tested it on my back, side, and stomach. My spine stayed in a neutral position, earning the mattress a perfect score for support.
Edge Support – 3.5/5
Edge support refers to how stable a mattress is around the perimeter. It can be a critical feature for partners who need to maximize their sleep surface and those with mobility issues, who need support getting in and out of bed. I tested edge support on the Titan Plus Elite by both sitting and lying near the edge. Unfortunately, the mattress sagged a full 4” when I sat on the side. Considering that this is a mattress made for larger people, that’s not particularly impressive.
Cooling – 4/5
Cooling is an advertised feature of the Plus Elite, so I was surprised that the mattress warmed from 72.1 F to 82.9 F after I rested on it for five minutes. It feels cool to the touch, and the GlacioTex+ Cooling Cloud Pillow Top is designed to actively wick away heat.
Subjectively, it felt like a cooler-sleeping mattress, and I didn’t overheat when I slept on it. It does feature dual coil layers, which help promote airflow and reduce stuffiness. For this reason, I gave it a score of 4/5.
Motion Transfer – 3.5/5
Motion transfer describes how much movement is felt across the mattress when it’s shared between two partners or with a pet. High motion transfer can mean a lot of disruption, while motion isolation means minimal movement is felt across the mattress.
To test the Plus Elite’s motion transfer, I put a full glass of water on one side of the bed and quickly pressed my hands into the other side. There wasn’t much movement in the water. While it’s a pretty responsive mattress, there is a bit of a slow-moving feel on the very top, which helps cut down on some of the transfer.
The microcoils also do a good job of minimizing motion transfer. When my coworker moved around on the other side of the mattress, I didn’t feel it on my side.
Response – 4.5/5
On the flip side of motion transfer is responsiveness. The Plus Elite got close to perfect marks for its response. While there is a hint of a memory foam feel on the very top of the mattress, it’s overall very responsive. The individually-wrapped coil layer pairs with the microcoils to give the Plus Elite a lot of bounce. That makes it very easy to move around and switch from one sleeping position to the next.
Durability – 4.5/5
This is another category that earned the Titan Plus Elite close to full marks. High-density foam and higher-grade coils are both designed to prevent sagging under heavier weights, and it’s a combination that spells durability.
However, I didn’t give it a perfect score because larger bodies naturally put more strain on a mattress. As a bigger guy, my mattresses wear out more quickly, and it’s reasonable to assume that even these reinforced materials will do the same.
Titan Plus Elite Policy Scores
Trial Period – 5/5
The Titan Plus Elite has the same 120-night trial as all Brooklyn Bedding mattresses. While four months should be sufficient for deciding if a mattress is right for you, this timeframe isn’t as generous as 365 nights, which is the timeframe offered by competitors.
Brooklyn Bedding requests that customers give the mattress at least 30 days from date of delivery before initiating a return. That’s reasonable, considering that it can take a few weeks for a body to properly adjust to a new mattress. If it’s just not working out, customers are asked to email the company to process the return. Keep in mind that all mattress returns are subject to a $99 return fee.
Warranty – 4/5
The Titan Plus Elite is backed by a 10-year warranty. It’s comparable to some competitors, but it’s not as impressive as the lifetime warranties that many brands offer. The warranty is non-transferable and begins on the date you purchase the mattress. It covers defects or deterioration in the foam’s cell structure, defects that lead to splitting or cracking, impressions over 1.5”, and sagging (assuming the mattress has been continuously and properly supported by a foundation). Specifically, the warranty notes that stains will void the warranty.
Titan Plus Elite – Other Factors To Consider
Beyond individual performance metrics, I also evaluate mattresses based on additional considerations. Here’s a rundown of the other ways I tested the Titan Plus Elite.
Two-Hour Nap Test
I spent the majority of my two-hour nap on my back. I felt perfectly supported in this position, and the plush top layers had just enough give for my hips to sink in comfortably. When I woke up, I had no stiffness and no aches and pains.
I slept cool, too. Even through the sheets, I could feel the GlacioTex cooling cover.
Off-gassing
The Titan Plus Elite ships compressed, rolled, and packed into a box. After opening, I noticed mild off-gassing, which is expected. The smell wasn’t terrible, and it went away after a few days.
Noise
I didn’t notice any noise during testing. But there are two sets of coils in the Titan Plus Elite, so there’s a possibility that the mattress could squeak down the road.
Sex
With its high responsiveness and touch of softness, this is a great mattress for sex, especially for those who weigh more than 230 lbs. It combines ample support with ease of movement, so couples should have no trouble moving around.
Mattress Height
The Plus Elite is 14.5” tall. That’s 2” to 4.5” taller than many online mattresses. It’s a sign of increased durability, but you may need deep pocket fitted sheets.
Sleeping Position and Weight
The Titan Plus Elite was a great fit for back sleeping. It has a good balance of comfort and support, so my hips sank in appropriately. Even light and average-weight sleepers might find the mattress a good fit when they’re on their backs.
I felt pretty comfortable on my side, without too much pressure on my shoulder and hip. But I think many side sleepers might feel pressure build up over time. Heavier combination sleepers who don’t spend the whole night on their sides should find the Plus Elite a good match. Light and average-weight side sleepers will probably lack the weight they need to compress the top layers and could find the mattress too firm.
Stomach sleepers across all weight classes should fare well, since the Plus Elite has ample support to keep the hips elevated. I’m larger, and I got plenty of support under my hips and across my body. Light and average-weight sleepers should get the support they need, too.
Sleeper Weight | Back Sleepers | Side Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Lightweight (Under 130 lbs) | Good | Fair | Excellent |
Average (130-230 lbs) | Good | Good | Excellent |
Heavyweight (Over 230 lbs) | Excellent | Good | Good |
Heavyweight Tester – 6’7”, 270 lbs
“I’m on the heavier side, and I can tell that the Titan Plus Elite was made with me in mind. The mattress gave me all the support I required and was especially comfortable while I was back sleeping.” – Marten
Average-weight Tester – 5’3”, 150 lbs
“Surprisingly, I felt pretty comfortable on the Titan Plus Elite. The plush pillow top cushioned my joints when I rested on my side, and I felt very supported when I slept on my back and stomach.” – Elisa
Titan Plus Elite Construction
The Titan Plus Elite has a hybrid construction. Let’s take a closer look at its layers.
Cover
The GlacioTex Cooling Cloud Pillow Top is designed to regulate body temperature. It’s lightly quilted with some foam that gives it a plush pillow top feel.
Comfort Layers
In the uppermost comfort layer, TitanFlex Comfort Foam gives the Plus Elite good contouring and pressure relief. It’s also a high-density material that supports more weight.
Just below is a thin layer of microcoils. It adds a touch of bounce, along with pressure relief and contouring to the top of the mattress.
Next comes a layer of Variflex transition foam, which increases comfort at the top of the mattress.
Support Layers
In the support layer, individually-wrapped TitanCore coils are reinforced for enhanced durability and contouring. They’re specifically designed to handle heavier weight.
At the bottom of the mattress is a layer of high-density base foam, which reinforces the coil core and adds structure to the layers above.
How To Try and Buy The Titan Plus Elite Mattress
If you live in the Phoenix, Arizona area, you can stop by the Brooklyn Bedding showroom to test the Titan Plus Elite mattress. If you don’t live near the showroom, you’ll have to order the mattress online. Fortunately, Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night trial period, which gives you about four months to decide whether the mattress is a good fit.

How The Titan Plus Elite Compares
It may be helpful to compare the Titan Plus Elite to other mattresses on the market to learn whether it will meet your needs. Here’s how the Plus Elite stands up to competitors.

Titan Plus Elite vs Big Fig
The Big Fig is another mattress brand that’s designed to meet the sleep needs of larger people. The Titan Plus Elite is softer than the Big Fig, which is a better pick for strict stomach sleepers. It should comfortably accommodate heavyweight sleepers over 300 lbs, but it is a more expensive option between the two.
Side sleepers will likely do better on the Titan Plus Elite — it has a softer, more cushioning feel. Hot sleepers will also appreciate its cooling cover.
Titan Plus Elite vs Titan Plus Luxe
The Titan Plus Luxe is another offering from Brooklyn Bedding. The main difference between these two models is the microcoil layer in the comfort layer of the Plus Elite, which gives the mattress more bounce. The Plus Elite comes with the GlacioTex cover. You can opt to add this cooling cover to the Plus Luxe model, but it comes at an additional cost. Overall, the Plus Elite is a good choice for hot sleepers and those who like a mattress with plenty of bounce.
While both models have a similar firmness, the cooling upgrades and microcoils in the Titan Plus Elite make it more expensive. If overheating at night isn’t an issue and you’re looking for a mattress on a budget, the Plus Luxe should work well.
Titan Plus Elite vs. Titan Plus
The Titan Plus is the base version of the Titan Plus Elite, so it lacks some of its bells and whistles. It doesn’t feature a pillow top and it’s much firmer than the Elite, so it’s a good match for stomach and back sleepers in higher weight ranges.
The Titan Plus is much more affordable, so if budget is a primary consideration, this might be the way to go. On the downside, it lacks cooling upgrades. If you often overheat at night, the Titan Plus Elite is the better option.
Frequently Asked Questions About The Titan Plus Elite Mattress
Is the Titan Plus Elite a good mattress?
Yes, but it depends on your preferences. Larger combination sleepers and hot sleepers will like it, but lighter people and strict side sleepers might not. Its medium-firm feel is geared to support more weight, so it’s going to feel firmer to people with less weight.
Can you flip the Titan Plus Elite?
No. The Titan Plus Elite has a distinct top and bottom, and it’s not designed to be flipped. Doing so could compromise its layers.
How long will the Titan Plus Elite last?
Based on the reinforced coils and high-density foam, it’s reasonable to expect the Titan Plus Elite to last seven to 10 years.
