The Nectar Luxe is a super-soft, hybrid mattress with a reasonable price tag. The mattress offers the plushness of memory foam but also demonstrates excellent temperature regulation, in part due to its hybrid design.
It is a great choice for hot sleepers who love the feel and contouring of all-foam beds, but always end up feeling too warm on them. The mattress is particularly a great pick for side and back sleepers who want some coils and additional airflow.

Our Nectar Luxe Hybrid Review in a Nutshell
The Nectar Luxe is a softer hybrid mattress that delivers the feel of memory foam with the support of an innerspring bed. The mattress is a great choice for side and back sleepers, and couples should appreciate its top-notch motion isolation. However, stomach sleepers and larger-bodied folks may not find it supportive enough. The Nectar Luxe outperformed many comparable mattresses in cooling, making it one of the better options for those who heat up at night.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a soft mattress that still delivers quality support for most side and back sleepers. Its cooling abilities really stood out during testing, earning a perfect 5/5 score in this category. These high marks make it an excellent choice for hot sleepers who love the feel of luxe memory foam but don’t want to sink too deeply into their bed.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating
We use a testing methodology that scores every mattress we review across a variety of performance categories we find most important for helping people determine whether a mattress is right for them. The Nectar Luxe Hybrid received an overall rating of 3.9/5. Its cooling abilities and motion isolation really stood out during our testing.
I’ll go through all our testing and first-hand accounts with the Nectar Luxe Hybrid as you read on. To learn what each score means, you can hover your cursor over one of the test categories below.

I Recommend the Nectar Luxe Hybrid For…
- Hot sleepers should expect reliable cooling and temperature regulation.
- Back sleepers who want a softer feeling mattress without compromising support.
- Couples should appreciate the Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s ability to isolate motion, plus its sturdy, silent build.

I Don’t Recommend the Nectar Luxe Hybrid For…
- Experiences can vary, but many heavier sleepers may sink too deeply into the Nectar Luxe Hybrid and prefer a firmer alternative.
- Most stomach sleepers will likely prefer a mattress that is better suited for their preferred sleeping position.
- Seniors or people with mobility issues may find the bed’s edges aren’t sturdy enough.

How Firm is the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress?
The Nectar Luxe has a firmness rating of 5/10. This aligns with our firmness guide, which rates beds on a 1-to-10 scale, where 1 is pillow-soft and 10 is rock-solid. The Nectar Luxe’s 5/10 firmness is a decent bit softer than the industry average of 6.5/10, and our testers also reported a super-plush feel.

The Nectar Luxe will likely be firm enough for most lightweight sleepers and average-weight side and back sleepers. It was a big hit with our lightweight tester in these positions.
“This is one of the most comfortable mattresses I’ve tested for side sleeping because it’s soft and yielding.. When I switched to my back, I also found this mattress’s firmness to be inviting and contouring. I felt like I was lying in a human mold and creating an indentation of my body in wet sand.”
However, those weighing more than 130 pounds may not experience sufficient support on the Nectar Luxe when lying on their sides or backs. Further, the plushness of this bed doesn’t make it a good fit for most stomach sleepers – regardless of body size.
How Does the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?
Dr. Raj Dasgupta says, “The firmness level of a mattress should change depending on your sleeping position.” This also applies to someone’s size.

The balance of softness and sturdy support on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid should make it more ideal for lightweight sleepers. Average-weight back and side sleepers who prefer a deeper softness should appreciate the combination of plush memory foam and supportive coils. However, larger-bodied sleepers will likely not find the support they need in this mattress.
| Sleeper Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
| Light (under 130 lbs) | Good | Good | Unpleasant |
| Average (130-230 lbs) | Good | Excellent | Unpleasant |
| Heavy (over 230 lbs) | Good | Good | Unpleasant |
Heavyweight Tester – 6’4”, 250 lbs
“I feel cradled by this. It’s really soft and contouring. I feel aligned, but there might be too much sinking for heavy side sleepers.” – In-house tester
Average-weight Tester – 5’8”, 140 lbs
“I feel like this mattress is hugging my lower back really well. But the longer I lie here, I do feel like I’m sinking in too much. My shoulders feel slightly elevated, but I don’t feel any pressure point buildup.” – In-house tester
Lightweight Tester – 5’4”, 128 lbs
“The top layer feels like sponge cake, and I love how it molded to my curves.” – In-house tester
Nectar Luxe Hybrid In-Depth Test Results
Pressure Relief
If you struggle with joint or back pain, it’s important to remember what Dr. Raj Dasgupta says: “An unsuitable mattress can make your pressure point discomfort worse if it doesn’t offer the proper support.”
This is why we have multiple in-house testers of varying sizes try every mattress we review to assess its pressure relief quality. This helps sleepers know whether a bed will provide good pressure relief rather than contribute to potential joint inflammation and general aches and pains.
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid demonstrated decent, but slightly below-average pressure relief scores. After all tests were performed, the Nectar Luxe received a 3.7/5 grade (3.9 is the average). To get this score, each of our testers tries out the bed in different sleeping positions and grades the pressure relief they feel.
Additionally, we conduct an objective pressure-map test. The pressure map we use can measure pressure buildup in the body, in pounds per square inch (PSI). Lower PSI scores typically indicate better pressure relief, as higher scores indicate more pressure buildup and a less pressure-relieving bed.
I’ll break down all our testing results by each in-house tester’s size, plus input from our Chief Medical Product Tester, Dr. Hannah Habeeb.
Lightweight Tester (under 130 pounds)
When our lightweight tester tried the Nectar Luxe Hybrid, the pressure map showed strong PSI scores, but the tester only felt decent pressure relief. On their side, our pressure map measured 12.76 PSI, and on their back, it read 11.61 PSI.
They gave both the experience on their side and the experience on their back a 3/5.
Although the lightweight pressure relief tester wasn’t a huge fan of this bed, I should note that the good PSI readings could mean other lightweight sleepers may experience better pressure relief, as was the case for the lightweight tester who evaluated the bed’s firmness.

She said, “I felt no pressure on my side or back, and my spine felt ideally aligned and supported.
Average-Weight Sleepers (130 to 230 pounds)
Our average-weight tester experienced significant pressure relief, with PSI scores that reflected this. On their side, they graded the Nectar Luxe’s pressure relief as a 4/5. The pressure map also measured 11.33.

On their back, they felt even more pressure relief, giving the experience a 5/5. Despite their experience, our pressure map read some pressure buildup at 13.51 PSI.

Heavyweight Tester (over 230 pounds)
On their side, our pressure map showed a buildup to 17.26 PSI. Despite this, our tester still found some contouring comfort on the Nectar Luxe, giving the side-sleeping experience a 4/5.

On their back, they were less pleased, giving the experience a 3/5. However, the pressure map only showed mild pressure buildup at 13.53.

Dr. Hannah Habeeb, Chief Medical Product Tester
Our Chief Medical Product Tester, Dr. Hannah Habeeb, an average-weight sleeper, also tested the Nectar Luxe Hybrid. They found the Nectar Luxe was way too soft to deliver a balance of pressure relief and support, giving both the back and side-sleeping positions a 2/5.
She described trying the mattress on her side, saying, “I feel like it’s almost too soft, to the point where my hips and shoulders are starting to feel pain. I’m not really feeling any lifting or support at my hip, which is slightly hurting my hip and severely misaligning my spine.” When she switched to her back, she said, “It definitely does not keep your spine in a neutral position. I think you’d wake up with a stiff back in the morning because it wasn’t being supported at night.”
I think the Nectar Luxe hybrid wouldn’t be the best choice for people struggling with chronic pain and in need of top-notch pain relief. However, considering the PSI scores, I think some sleepers may have a different experience, potentially due to preference. But overall, especially given Dr. Hannah Habeeb’s expert insight, there may be better mattresses for people who prioritize pressure relief.
Edge Support
Edge support is a sign of a durable bed, plus an important consideration for people who struggle to get in and out of bed or share their bed with someone else. You’ll understand the importance of edge support if you want full-surface, consistent support across the bed, and not to feel like you’re sinking when you’re huddled up on a bed’s edge. Great edge support should feel like sitting in a chair when watching TV from the side of your bed, while bad edge support could feel like you’re sitting on a bean bag that is sinking beneath your weigh
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid had below-average edge support, at 2.8 out of 5. We did multiple tests to get this score.
Feel Test
This first test is subjective. Here, one of our testers sits and lies on the edges of the Nectar Luxe, describing and grading how supported they feel in each position.
When the tester sat on the Nectar Luxe’s edges, they gave the test a 3 out of 5, saying, “The edge support on this bed is not the best. I don’t think this is the best choice for seniors who need a firm edge for getting in and out of bed. This one is simply too soft for good structure around the perimeter.”

Then, when they rested on the bed’s edges, they also felt only decent support, giving this feel test a 3 out of 5. They reported their findings, saying, “If edge support is an important factor to you, I don’t think this is the best mattress. Its spongy surface is just too soft to maintain its structure.”
Weight Plate Test
In this objective test, we place three sets of weights on the edge of the mattress to simulate sleepers of varying sizes sitting on the edge of a bed. For each set of weights, we measure how much the edge sinks to determine its support and stability. For reference, the graph above explains how we grade sinkage.
For the 100-pound lightweight set, we measured 5.5 inches of sagging (3/5). With the average-weight 150-pound set, we measured 6 inches of sagging (3/5). And with the heavyweight 200-pound set, we recorded 6.5 inches of sagging (2/5).

Overall, I wouldn’t recommend the Nectar Luxe Hybrid if edge support is a major concern for you. It demonstrated below-average results, especially for a pricier bed in a manufacturer’s top-tier line-up. If edge support is important to you, consider our top picks for beds available today that offer strong edge support.
Cooling
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid combines foam and coils for versatility. While some people may find all-foam mattresses trap their body heat, hybrid mattresses offer foam for comfort and coils for enhanced airflow. Hybrid layers tend to make them a better choice for hot sleepers who still like the memory foam feel, because, as the Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Shelby Harris, says, “Innerspring mattresses promote airflow, helping circulate body heat and increase breathability.”
Our testers found the Nectar Luxe Hybrid’s design made it an excellent choice for hot sleepers, earning a 5/5 cooling grade during testing.
To get this score, we had a tester lie on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid and rate how well it kept them cool, and give their subjective analysis of how the bed feels. We follow this up with an objective test, using a thermal gun.

We point the thermal gun at the mattress to measure its resting room temperature. Then a tester lies on the bed for roughly 5-7 minutes, gets up, and we re-measure the bed’s temperature to assess how much of their body heat is trapped in the bed’s top layers. The chart below explains how we grade temperature changes, with any increase under 4 degrees considered excellent and any increase over 16 degrees considered poor.
| Less than a 4-degree change | 5/5 |
| 4-6 degree change | 4.5/5 |
| 6-8 degree change | 4/5 |
| 8-10 degree change | 3.5/5 |
| 10-12 degree change | 3/5 |
| 12-14 degree change | 2.5/5 |
| 14-16 degree change | 2/5 |
| 16+ degree change | 1/5 |
When our tester rested on the bed, they found it “cool-to-the-touch,” giving the Nectar Luxe a 5/5 for cooling. They were actually impressed, saying, “I was shocked by how little it warmed up after seven minutes of lying on it—it didn’t feel warm at all.”
Furthermore, before they got into the bed, the Nectar Luxe’s resting temperature was 68.1 degrees, and after they got out of the bed, the thermal gun measured 71.8 degrees. A 3.7-degree increase is what we deem excellent and provides objective support for our tester’s 5/5 grade.
I would definitely suggest the Nectar Luxe Hybrid for hot sleepers, as it performed well above average at dissipating body heat and creating a cool sleeping surface.
Motion Isolation
If you share your bed with someone who tosses and turns at night, you’ll want a bed with good motion isolation. A mattress that performs well in this category will help prevent motion transfer between sleepers, keeping couples who share the bed from waking each other at night.
After testing, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid received an above-average 4/5 score for motion isolation.
Our first test, called a “partner test,” is subjective and involved one in-house tester and Sosha Lewis, a certified sleep science coach. In the partner test, one tester rests on one side of the bed, while the other gets in and out of bed and changes sleeping positions next to them.
The resting tester then reports how much they could feel the other person’s movements. For this test, our testers gave it a 3/5. In one tester’s notes, they explained, “I was surprised how easily I could feel Sosha moving around on the bed, especially given all the slow-moving memory foam on the surface of the mattress.”
Additionally, we perform a “ripple test.” This is where we place a large glass of water on one side of the bed, and see how much the water ripples or splashes in response to a tester’s movements next to it.

When getting in and out of the bed, our tester said, “The water barely moved in the glass when I climbed in and out of bed. There were a few small ripples, but nothing dramatic enough to disrupt the glass or create a splash.” Our tester gave this test a score of 4/5.
Our tester also switches sleeping positions next to the water and checks again for splashing or rippling. The results here were quite impressive, getting a 5/5 by our tester. Our tester noted, “When I switched positions, the glass didn’t budge at all. I detected almost no water movement inside the glass.”
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is a good choice for couples sharing the bed. It demonstrated the type of motion isolation you should expect from a luxury mattress.
Response
We grade responsiveness based on how well a mattress responds to your body’s movements on its surface, while still providing reliable support and bounce and preventing unhealthy sinkage (which can result in a lack of spinal alignment). This is an important consideration, especially for combination sleepers, as you want the bed to respond to you switching sleeping positions with the same consistent contouring and support. Furthermore, responsiveness correlates to how easy it is to move around on the bed, making it an important consideration for couples when it comes to sex.
When determining how responsive a bed is, we have a product expert gauge how easy it is to change positions. Our in-house tester said that the Nectar Luxe Hybrid felt like lying on a “short stack of pancakes”.
She noted that it wasn’t extremely difficult to switch positions, but it was harder than on some of the firmer mattresses she’s tested. She gave it a mid-range score (3/5) for responsiveness.
Sinkage: Deep
In this test, we placed a 44-pound kettlebell and measured how much it sank into the Nectar Luxe’s surface. The kettlebell sank 4.4 inches, which we consider deep sinkage.
| Light Sinkage | 0-2.5” |
| Moderate Sinkage | 2.6-4” |
| Deep Sinkage | 4+” |
Bounce: Low
We dropped a ball from the top of a ladder onto the Nectar Luxe Hybrid and recorded how high it bounced. Our tester recorded the ball bouncing only 6 inches and gave the Nectar Luxe Hybrid a truly low 1/5 for bounce.
| Low Bounce | 8” or less |
| Moderate Bounce | 8-12” |
| High Bounce | 12” or more |
Noise
If you have roommates, are a restless sleeper, or share a bed, a noisy mattress can be a nightmare for getting a good night’s sleep. That’s why we always take the time to assess how quiet or loud a mattress is.
Sosha Lewis tested the Nectar Luxe for noise and found excellent results, awarding it 5/5. She explained her score, saying, “This is a very quiet mattress. I plopped down on it and no air expelled, nor did the coils squeak.”
Sex
When considering sex, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid received a 3.6/5 score. I got this score by averaging out the bed’s noise, edge support, and response scores. I think the subpar bounce and edge support may make moving around on the Nectar Luxe a little frustrating. However, the excellent noise score should help calm concerns of being heard by your roommates or kids.
Overall, I wouldn’t suggest the Nectar Luxe as a go-to for active sexual couples when considering its bounce and edge support grades. But it could be a decent option for some, as it scored just below the 4.3/5 average.
If you’re looking for a better-performing bed for sex, I’d recommend checking out our best mattresses for sex or best mattress for couples reviews for some potential alternatives.
Adjustable Base Compatibility
According to Nectar, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid should be compatible with most adjustable bases. However, our expert tester, Sosha Lewis, put the mattress to the test. She rated her experience with the Nectar Luxe on an adjustable base at 3/5. Sosha explained her grade, saying, “It conformed very nicely when two people were on it. But when I tried it in TV mode, I felt too much pressure. My lower and upper body felt very scrunched.”
Sosha added that with some adjusting, you can likely find a comfortable position that works for you. But it may not be the best mattress for your adjustable base. Notably, though, Nectar does recommend trying out their mattresses with one of their adjustable bases. But if you want a reliably comfortable zero-gravity position or TV mode with the push of a button, consider checking out our favorite mattresses for use with an adjustable base.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Customer Experience Scores
When grading customer experience, we consider all the logistics of ordering, receiving, and getting your bed where it needs to be in your bedroom. We also consider the fine print behind shipping, returns, and warranties. I’ll break down all of this below for the Nectar Luxe Hybrid.
Trial Period
A 365-night sleep trial is included with your purchase of the Nectar Luxe Hybrid. Nectar suggests giving your mattress a full 30 days to fully expand or break in before returning it, so you can get the full experience before deciding it’s not for you.
We gave the trial period a 5/5 because this is generally the longest sleep trial offered by mattress brands. Furthermore, regardless of your reason, if you return the Nectar Luxe Hybrid during the trial period, Nectar will pick it up from you free of charge.
Warranty
We gave Nectar a 5/5 for its warranty policy. Nectar mattresses offer a lifetime warranty, or what they call a “forever warranty” (as good as it gets) against defects, including sagging. I should note, though, that the lifetime warranty applies only to the original purchaser.
Unboxing and Moving
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid is an online mattress, so it arrives compressed and vacuum-sealed in a box. Taking it out of the box is pretty straightforward. I would suggest having a box cutter or a tool to keep the unboxing experience clean and organized. I also want to mention that the Nectar Luxe Hybrid isn’t light. Its queen-size model is 113 pounds, so it’s good to have a friend or extra set of hands around when moving it into place.
Furthermore, I’d suggest moving the box into the room where you want to put the Nectar Luxe. The hybrid design does make the Nectar Luxe slightly bendable, but due to the coils inside it, the less maneuvering you’ll need to do between hallways or stairs when getting it into place, the better.
Nectar offers White Glove Delivery for its mattresses, which includes unboxing and moving the mattress into place in your home. However, this costs an additional $199, and the fee includes up to two Nectar sleep items (a bed and an adjustable base, for example), with each additional item delivered white-glove at $49.
Readiness After Unboxing
Once unboxed, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid should immediately start decompressing and assuming its intended shape. Nectar suggests waiting 48 hours before using it and 24 to 72 hours for the mattress to fully take shape.
Off-gassing
Off-gassing is the sort of “new mattress” smell you may get from a bed-in-a-box. Experiences will likely vary, but Nectar says the off-gassing smell from its Luxe Hybrid model should dissipate within 24 to 72 hours. This is fairly common with most bed-in-a-box mattresses and nothing to be seriously concerned about, unless the smell persists after the original 72-hour wait period.
Nectar Luxe Hybrid Construction
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid has six layers and uses both multiple foam types and individually wrapped coils to balance comfort and support. I’ll go through its entire build and the materials it uses below.

Mattress Height & Weight
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid stands taller than average, at 14 inches. The mattress’s weight reflects the model you choose. According to Nectar, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid weighs 68 pounds in the twin-size model, 95 pounds in the full-size model, 113 pounds in the queen-size model, and 142 pounds in the king-size model.
Materials
The Nectar Luxe Hybrid uses an ultra-soft Tencel cooling cover that is “slick but comfortable,” according to Sosha Lewis. The bed also uses high-density support foam, memory foam, and responsive foam, all CertiPUR-US certified. It also uses steel-based individually encased coils.
Layers
On top is a very cool Tencel-based plush mattress cover designed to be antimicrobial and breathable. Then there is a 3-inch layer of memory foam for cradling and comfort beneath the surface. Under this comfort layer is a 2-inch responsive polyfoam support layer that also helps with contouring.
At the bed’s core is an 8-inch layer of individually encased steel coils that further support the mattress and promote airflow throughout.
Finally, the bed’s foundation consists of a durable 1-inch layer of high-density foam and a shift-resistant fabric bottom cover, which is intended to help maintain the mattress’s structural integrity throughout.
How to Try and Buy the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Mattress
You’ll probably get the best deal on the Nectar Luxe Hybrid by going to their official site and ordering from them directly. This also secures the 365-night sleep trial they offer with the mattress. However, if you’re keen to try the mattress in person first, the best way to find a store that carries the Nectar Luxe Hybrid near you is to use their store locator on the official site.

How the Nectar Luxe Hybrid Compares
If the Nectar Luxe Hybrid doesn’t seem like the right fit, I compared it to some of its competitors we’ve reviewed below.
- DreamCloud Premier Mattress – More for your money
- Helix Midnight Luxe Mattress – Better for couples
- Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid – Longer trial period
| Rating | ||||

Nectar Luxe Hybrid vs. DreamCloud Premier Hybrid
The two mattresses are priced very similarly. During testing, the DreamCloud Premier outperformed the Nectar Luxe for its edge support (4.4/5), pressure relief (4.4/5), and responsiveness (5/5). This is notable, given that the Nectar Luxe is more expensive.
Both mattresses had comparable motion isolation during testing, with each scoring 4/5 in this category. However, the Nectar Luxe Hybrid was a way better pick for hot sleepers than the DreamCloud Premier. The Nectar Luxe got a 5/5 for cooling, compared to the Premier’s below-average 3.5/5 for cooling.
Based on our individual tests and overall performance, I’d say the DreamCloud Premier is a better value, especially for luxury-on-a-budget shoppers looking for excellent pressure relief and edge support. But hot sleepers will likely prefer the Nectar Luxe Hybrid.

Nectar Luxe Hybrid vs. Helix Midnight Luxe
The Helix Midnight Luxe is slightly softer than average (6/10 firmness), but it is decidedly firmer than the Nectar Luxe, which comes in at a 5 on the firmness scale. Additionally, ot is slightly more affordable than the Nectar Luxe Hybrid but offers a less generous 120-night sleep trial.
Moreover, the Helix Midnight should stand out more to seniors or people with mobility issues or chronic pain, as it showed much better edge support (4.8/5). It also edged out the Nectar Luxe Hybrid for pressure relief (4.17/5). However, the Nectar Luxe still outperformed the Helix Midnight when it came to cooling (5/5, pretty hard to beat), potentially making the Midnight Luxe less ideal for hot sleepers. Both mattresses also showed similar quality motion isolation (4/4).
Considering all this, I would suggest the Helix Midnight as a better alternative for couples, as it demonstrated much better responsiveness (4/5) than the Nectar Luxe.

Nectar Luxe Hybrid vs. Leesa Sapira Chill
The Leesa Sapira Chill is a slightly more expensive hybrid that markets to hot sleepers. Ironically, though, the Nectar Luxe demonstrated better cooling (5/5) than the Sapira Chill.
The Sapira Chill has similar motion-isolation quality (3.8/5) to the Nectar Luxe (4/4), but better edge support (4.3/5) and pressure relief (4.5/5). Additionally, the Sapira Chill mattress also offers a 365-night sleep trial, which should also stand out to extra-concerned shoppers.
I’d suggest the Sapira Chill by Leesa for seniors, combination sleepers, and people with back pain.
