Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress Firmness and Feel

First things first: We have to check out this bed’s firmness and feel. These two elements will help you quickly determine whether the mattress will work for you.

How Firm is the Nectar Premier Hybrid?

Mattress Clarity uses a firmness scale that ranges from 1-10, with 6.5/10 representing medium-firm. The Nectar Hybrid Premier feels slightly softer than average, coming in at 6/10. When you rest on top of this bed, you’ll feel more of the plush comfort layers rather than the springy support section.

Sleeping On The Nectar Premier Hybrid

Some heavier back sleepers may need more lumbar support when resting on the Nectar Premier Hybrid, but most folks will feel a great balance of comfort in this sleeping position. Most side sleepers will love the Nectar Premier Hybrid’s soft top layers because the slow-moving foam gently cushions shoulders and hips.

We don’t recommend the Nectar Premier Hybrid for stomach sleepers. In this sleeping position, you’ll need a much more supportive mattress. Otherwise, your hips could sink out of alignment and you could develop lower back pain.

What Does the Nectar Premier Hybrid Feel Like?

The Nectar Premier Hybrid has impressive comfort layers that alleviate pain on pressure points, but thanks to the innersprings at the bottom, it creates a balanced foam feel. If you’re looking for the plushness of an all-foam bed, but don’t want to “sink” into the top layers, this bed is a great option.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

Average weight folks should feel comfortable while back and side sleeping. The Nectar Premier Hybrid features three pressure-relieving foam layers and a durable base layer made with pocketed coils. Because of this construction, back and side sleepers should feel a great balance of comfort and support.

Nectar Hybrid - Side Sleeping

Average weight stomach sleepers won’t get the hip support they need on the Nectar Premier Hybrid. Over time, it’s possible their hips will sink out of alignment, which can cause back pain.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb

Heavyweight back sleepers who weigh closer to 230 lb should feel quite comfortable on the Nectar Premier Hybrid. It’s possible that heavier people will need more lumbar support, however. If you fall in this category, you may prefer the Nectar Classic Hybrid.

Side sleepers who weigh less than 300 lb should feel some great body contouring on this mattress. Heavier folks will compress the top layers more than lighter people, so they will feel even more pressure relief. Those who weigh more than 300 lb may not get the lumbar support they need, though, and may want to consider getting one of the best mattresses for heavy people.

Heavyweight stomach sleepers won’t get the proper support on the Nectar Premier Hybrid. People in this weight category should look for a mattress that feels like a 7 or 8 on our firmness scale.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb

The Nectar Hybrid Premier works well for all lightweight people – yes, even stomach sleepers! Because lightweight folks won’t compress the top layers too much, they’ll still get the hip support they need when resting on their stomachs.

Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress Construction

What sets this bed apart from the Classic Hybrid? To find out, we’ll need to investigate its construction.

Mattress Height

The Nectar Premier Hybrid is 13” tall, which is an inch thicker than the Classic.

Cover

The Nectar Premier Hybrid features a quilted cooling cover with antimicrobial protection. Though not cool-to-the-touch, this cover is thin and breathable and shouldn’t trap extra heat.

Comfort Layers

With three comfort layers, the Nectar Premier Hybrid offers excellent body contouring and pressure relief. In the first layer, you’ll find an inch of traditional memory foam. This material feels cushy and slow-moving, so you’ll sink into it slightly.

To prevent sleepers from “bottoming out” on this bed, Nectar added a layer of proprietary Active Lift HD foam. This material feels more supportive than the top layer, and it helps keep the spine in the proper alignment.

Nectar Hybrid Premier Construction

Beneath this, you’ll find Nectar’s Dynamic Response layer. This special foam acts as a transition layer before you reach the innersprings, and it has a responsive feel.

Support Layer

For support, the Nectar Premier Hybrid has 8” of individually wrapped coils. They feel bouncy and responsive, making it easy for sleepers to move around on top of this bed.

At the very bottom, you’ll find a 1” stability layer made out of high-density foam.

Nectar Premier Hybrid Mattress Performance

But how well does this mattress perform when it comes to cooling, edge support, and motion isolation? To find out, we put this bed through a number of tests. Here’s how it fared:

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Thanks to its innerspring support system, the Nectar Premier Hybrid allows a lot of room for airflow. Plus, it has a cooling cover that aids in breathability. Overall, this mattress works well for hot sleepers, but if you tend to wake up with night sweats, you may want to consider getting the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid. This model has even more advanced cooling features.

Motion Transfer

Most hybrid mattresses don’t isolate motion well. Because of the springy coils at the bottom, couples often complain about feeling their partner’s movements when they shift sleeping positions in the night.

However, the Nectar Premier Hybrid isn’t like most mattresses. This model contains three plush comfort layers that help eliminate motion transfer.

Edge Support

When you sit along the side of the Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress, you’ll feel quite secure and stable. The thick coils provide excellent edge support, which is great for couples because that means they can utilize more of the mattress’s surface area!

Durability

The Nectar Premier Hybrid features many high-quality materials, such as the Active Lift HD foam and the pocketed support coils. For this reason, we expect it to last at least a decade – which is about three years longer than many other bed-in-a-box mattresses.

Off-Gassing

When you first unbox a new mattress, it’s common to notice a slight chemical smell. We call this “off-gassing,” and it was prevalent with the Nectar Premier Hybrid. But it’s nothing to worry about! The smell completely faded away after 48 hours.

Noise

When we tested the Nectar Premier Hybrid, we didn’t hear any noise. It’s possible the coils could begin to squeak as the years go on, but we don’t expect it to become a major issue.

Sex

Typically, couples looking for one of the best mattresses for sex want a bed that feels bouncy and responsive. Even though the Nectar Premier Hybrid contains coils, it may not be the best choice for getting intimate. This bed has a balanced feel, so sleepers will notice more of the slow-moving memory foam on top. If you’re looking for something that’s especially easy to move around on, take a look at our list of the best innerspring mattresses.

How Does The Nectar Premier Hybrid Compare To Other Mattresses?

We know how confusing the mattress industry can be, especially when there are so many different models to choose from. To make things simpler, we’ll compare this bed to Nectar’s other two hybrid mattresses: The Classic Hybrid and the Premier Copper Hybrid.

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs Nectar Classic Hybrid

The Nectar Classic Hybrid feels slightly firmer than the Premier Hybrid, coming in at 6.5/10. Although the Classic model shouldn’t trap too much heat, it doesn’t sleep as cool as the Premier Hybrid. The Classic model features gel memory foam, which helps with temperature regulation. It doesn’t have the Active Lift HD layer like the Premier Hybrid has, however, so it’s not as cooling.

A man sleeps on his back on the Nectar Classic Hybrid.

The Classic model is also one inch shorter than the Premier, so it may have a slightly shorter lifespan. However, the Classic model has a lower price point – $1199.00 for a queen compared to the Premier’s $1799.00 price tag.

Who Should Get The Nectar Premier Hybrid?

  • Hot sleepers
  • People who need more plush comfort

Who Should Get The Nectar Classic Hybrid?

  • People who want to save money
  • Fans of medium-firm beds

Nectar Premier Hybrid vs Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid

The Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid is a great choice for folks who want a bit more luxury. While both beds provide great airflow, the Premier Copper Hybrid mattress sleeps even cooler. Its copper-infused cover feels cool-to-the-touch and helps lower body temperature.

Both mattresses feel like a 6/10 on our firmness scale, but the Nectar Premier Hybrid has an extra inch of memory foam on top. This gives the mattress an extra boost of comfort and body contouring.

The Premier Copper Hybrid costs more –$2249.00 for a queen, but for those especially hot sleepers, it could be worth the investment.

Who Should Get The Nectar Premier Hybrid?

  • People who want to save money
  • People who don’t sleep as hot at night

Who Should Get the Nectar Premier Copper Hybrid?

  • Especially hot sleepers
  • People who want a more luxurious mattress

FAQs

We’re not done yet! Check out our FAQ section for even more information.

How long will the Nectar Premier Hybrid last?

The Nectar Premier Hybrid mattress should have a long lifespan – at least 10 years. Because of its proprietary foam and supportive base layer, this mattress should last about three years longer than similar beds on the market. Plus, it’s backed by a lifetime warranty!

Can you flip the Nectar Premier Hybrid?

No, this is not a flippable mattress. It’s designed with coils at the bottom and foam on top. If you flipped it, the mattress wouldn’t feel comfortable.

What if I don’t like my Nectar Premier Hybrid?

Nectar offers an impressive 365-night trial, which gives sleepers plenty of time to test out the bed within the comfort of their own homes. If you decide that, ultimately, the mattress isn’t for you – no worries! You can return it for a full refund within the first year.
