Recore Mattress Overview

Made by GoodMorning.com, the Recore mattress is sold all across Canada and is backed by impressive customer service terms. Though it has many great features, it may not work for everyone. Here’s a quick overview of the Recore mattress’s pros and cons.

Recore Mattress Firmness and Feel

Now, let’s get into the important stuff: firmness and feel. These two factors will help you determine whether the Recore mattress will offer you a good balance of comfort and support.

How Firm is the Recore?

The Recore mattress feels slightly firmer than average, coming in at 7/10 on our firmness scale. For reference, the Mattress Clarity firmness scale ranges from 1-10, with 6.5/10 representing medium-firm. If you need a mattress that feels a bit more supportive than others, the Recore could be a good option.

Sleeping On The Recore

Even though the Recore mattress has a firm feel, it still offers ample pressure relief for back and side sleepers. Some lightweight stomach sleepers may also find the Recore to be a great match, though heavier folks might need a more supportive mattress.

What Does the Recore Feel Like?

The Recore mattress has a balanced foam feel. The top layer, made out of graphite-infused latex, feels responsive. However, the second comfort layer contains gel-infused memory foam, which has more of a slow-moving feel. Sleepers will gently sink into the top layers, but they won’t feel “stuck” or have trouble moving around on top of the bed.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

Average weight sleepers should feel comfortable while back and side sleeping. The Recore mattress has soft comfort layers that help alleviate pain along pressure points, but the supportive base layer helps keep the spine in a neutral alignment. Stomach sleepers who weigh less than 180 lb should get plenty of lumbar support, but heavier folks may need to get a firmer mattress.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb

Thanks to its firm and responsive feel, the Recore mattress should work well for back and side sleepers who weigh less than 300 lb. We don’t recommend the Recore mattress for heavyweight stomach sleepers or anyone who weighs more than 300 lb. If you fall in this category, you may want to consider getting one of the best mattresses for heavy people.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb

Lightweight sleepers should feel comfy and supported while back and stomach sleeping, but the Recore mattress may not be a great match for smaller side sleepers. People who weigh less than 130 lb won’t compress the top comfort layers too much, so they could feel some pressure along their shoulders and hips.

Recore Mattress Construction

The Recore isn’t your typical latex mattress. To really understand what it’s all about, we’ll need to check out its construction.

LayerDescription
CoverRecore’s SilverCharged Top Cover, made out of antimicrobial fabric, feels stretchy and breathable.
Comfort Layer #1The first comfort layer contains graphite-infused latex foam. This material is aerated for extra breathability, and it feels more responsive than traditional memory foam. Because the graphite infusion helps dissipate body heat, it helps the mattress stay cool throughout the night.
Comfort Layer # 2Next up: a layer of cooling gel memory foam. This material feels more plush and slow-moving than the top layer, and the gel infusion aids in heat dissipation.
Support LayerIn the support layer, you’ll find 7” of high-density support foam, which is pretty standard in all-foam mattresses.

Mattress Height

The Recore mattress is 10.5” (27.9 cm) tall..

Recore Mattress Performance

Now that we know about the most important elements, let’s examine the Recore mattress’s performance features. We put the mattress through a number of tests to learn more about its motion transfer, edge support, durability, and more.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

If you tend to sleep hot at night, the Recore mattress could be a great option. Unlike many all-foam beds, the Recore mattress feels responsive and breathable. Plus, the graphite and gel infusions help dissipate body heat and promote airflow.

Motion Transfer

Couples – take note! You’ll want to make sure your mattress isolates motion well. If it doesn’t, you might wake up when your partner shifts sleeping positions during the night.

Fortunately, the Recore mattress performs well when it comes to motion isolation. When I tested it out, I hardly felt the mattress move when my co-worker switched sleeping positions next to me.

Edge Support

Edge support is another important feature to consider if you share a bed with someone. Beds with poor edge support force sleepers to rest closer toward the center of the bed, which could make some couples feel cramped.

A woman sits on the edge of the Recore mattress.

The Recore mattress doesn’t have the best edge support. We sank through the top layers quite a bit when we sat and rested near the sides. However, the base layer prevented us from completely rolling off the bed, so it’s not the worst edge support we’ve ever experienced.

Durability

In general, latex foam has a longer lifespan than traditional memory foam. And because the Recore mattress also contains durable base foam, we expect it to last a few years longer than many other beds on the market – about 7-10 years.

Off-Gassing

Off-gassing is a term for the chemical smell often emitted after unboxing a new mattress. This occurred with the Recore, but the odor completely faded away after 48 hours.

Noise

Because the Recore mattress only contains foam, it doesn’t make any noise.

Sex

Couples looking the best mattress for sex typically want a bed that’s easy to move around on. The Recore mattress has a responsive feel, but it’s not as bouncy as innerspring or hybrid mattresses. That said, couples shouldn’t feel “stuck” inside the bed, so it’s a decent choice for getting intimate. Check out our list of best mattresses for couples for more options.

Company Policies

You don’t want to skip over the fine print whenever you’re shopping for a new mattress. Here’s what you can expect if you purchase a Recore mattress.

Warranty Info

The Recore mattress is backed by a 15-year warranty.

Sleep Trial

Recore offers a 120-night sleep trial period, so customers have plenty of time to test out the mattress within the comfort of their own home.

Return Policy

If you’re not happy with the mattress during the initial sleep trial period, you can return it for a full refund.

Common Recore Mattress Complaints

Most people love their Recore mattress, but a few customers complained that it felt too firm for them. This bed does feel slightly more supportive than average, so it may not work for everyone’s personal preferences. Fortunately, there’s a long sleep trial period so you can return it if it’s not a great match.

How Does The Recore Compare To Other Mattresses?

We get it. Buying a mattress can feel complicated. To make things a bit easier, we’ll compare the Recore to two other popular Canadian mattresses: the Douglas and the Endy.

Recore vs Douglas

Even though they’re both made in Canada, the Recore and Douglas mattresses have many differences. The Recore mattress feels like a 7/10, while the Douglas mattress feels like a 6/10 on the firmness scale. Fans of softer mattresses will want to opt for the Douglas.

A woman sleeps on her side on the Douglas mattress

The Douglas mattress has more of a slow-moving feel, so it could be a better choice for side sleepers. But even though the Douglas mattress has some cooling features, such as the EcoLite Cooling Gel Foam, it won’t sleep as cool as the Recore mattress.

Who Should Get The Recore Mattress?

  • Hot sleepers
  • Fans of responsive mattresses
  • People who want a firmer mattress

Who Should Get The Douglas Mattress?

  • Fans of slow-moving mattresses
  • People who want a softer mattress
  • Side sleepers

Read our full Douglas mattress review.

Recore vs Endy

The Endy mattress has a classic medium-firm feel, which is slightly softer than the Recore. Like the Recore, the Endy mattress has a balanced foam feel.

A man sleeps on his side on the Endy mattress

The Endy mattress contains breathable foam, but the Recore mattress is a better choice for hot sleepers because the latex foam is particularly responsive and breathable.

Who Should Get The Recore Mattress?

  • Fans of firmer mattresses
  • Hot sleepers

Who Should Get The Endy Mattress?

  • Fans of medium-firm mattresses
  • People who want to save some money.
