The Brentwood Home Oceano is a luxury hybrid mattress that contains multiple layers of premium, eco-friendly components. It features two layers of pressure-relieving foam and not one, but two, sets of coils. Add in a Tencel cover, and this is a very advanced mattress.

The mattress should be a great fit for a number of people, especially those who want something that will last for a number of years.

Brentwood Home Oceano Firmness And Feel

The Brentwood Home Oceano is a hybrid mattress that features memory foam and two layers of coils. Let’s take a look at how these materials make the mattress perform and feel.

How Firm Is The Oceano Mattress?

The Oceano mattress feels like a 7.5/10, firmer-than-average. The top of the mattress is plush and easy to press into, and then we can feel the support layers beneath that. We will note that our main reviewer, Marten, is a larger person and weighs 250 lbs, and lighter people might feel like the Oceano mattress is a bit softer. Also, with its zoning, the Oceano mattress might feel firmer or softer depending on one’s sleeping position.

Sleeping On The Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress

Starting off on the back, the Brentwood Home Oceano is a fantastic match. Its support coils offer excellent overall support, the zoning provides extra lumbar support, and the micro-coils and top foam layer offer a good deal of contouring. While it is firmer, back sleepers should feel their hips sink in just the right amount while the mattress supports their lumbar area. See our best mattresses for back sleepers for more like this.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress - Back Sleeping

Side sleeping, the majority of people might find the Oceano to be too firm. Even though it is zoned, side sleepers will still feel some pressure on their shoulders and hips and will want to look for a softer mattress.

Given that the Oceano is a firmer mattress, it is an excellent choice for stomach sleepers. It will provide the extra support that stomach sleepers require and keep their hips from sinking too far into the mattress.

What Does The Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress Feel Like?

The Brentwood Home Oceano mattress features an innerspring feel with a bit of that plush pillow top feel on top. It is very responsive due to the multiple layers of coils, so it is very easy to move around and reposition on the mattress. See our best innerspring mattresses for more options like this.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress - Firmness And Feel

Average-Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs to 230 lbs

The Brentwood Home Oceano should be supportive enough for average-weight back sleepers and stomach sleepers. The coils will be able to handle even those at the higher end of this weight range. Side sleepers who are on the lighter end of this spectrum could also feel some decent pressure relief when they are lying on the Oceano mattress.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lbs

Our main reviewer, Marten, is a heavier person and weighs 250 lbs. He found that the Oceano mattress was firm enough for back sleeping and stomach sleeping. However, his heavier weight pushed him further into the mattress, so he felt some pressure on his shoulders and hips while side sleeping.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lbs

The Brentwood Home Oceano is a pretty substantial mattress, and it might just be too much for lightweight sleepers. They will get the support they need when they are stomach sleeping, but the mattress might just feel too firm for back sleeping. Lighter side sleepers could feel some nice pressure relief, however.

See our best mattresses for lightweight sleepers.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress Construction

Let’s look under the hood of the Brentwood Home Oceano and see what materials make up the mattress. We’ll start on top and then work our way down to the base of the mattress.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress - Construction

Cover

The Oceano’s cover is made of a Tencel fabric, a material that is soft, breathable, and cooling – it is also plant-based and sustainably sourced. The cover is tufted and quilted with organic wool to give the top of the mattress a plush look and feel.

Comfort Layers

Below the Oceano’s tufted cover, there is a 2″ of gel-infused memory foam, a slow-moving material that promises a bit of pressure relief. The gel infusion will help keep the memory foam from trapping too much heat, however.

Support Layer

The Oceano features a pretty complex support layer that contains two coil layers. The bottom layer is 8″ of individually wrapped coils and the top coil layer is a set of contouring micro-coils. A layer of Serene Cool Air Lux Foam can be found between the two layers and it will provide even more contouring and comfort from deep down in the mattress.

Mattress Height

The Brentwood Home Oceano mattress is 14″ tall, making it a substantial tall mattress. The two layers of coils really add some height to the Oceano.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress Performance

Let’s looks even more closely at the Brentwood Home Oceano mattress and see how it performs with regard to cooling, motion transfer, and edge support.

Sleeping Hot Or Cold

The Brentwood Home Oceano slept quite cool during our experience with the mattress. It features two layers of coils that promote a great amount of airflow through the mattress, and the cover and top foam layer don’t trap too much heat.

Motion Transfer

To test out the motion transfer on the Oceano, Marten placed a glass of water in the center of the mattress. He then pushed into the other areas of the mattress and did see a bit of disturbance in the water.

Marten also lay down on one side of the Oceano while Danny got in and out of bed on the other side. Marten did feel some of  Danny’s movements transfer to his side of the bed.

Overall, the Oceano could be an okay mattress for couples, but they could still feel some motion transfer.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress - Motion Transfer

Edge Support

The Oceano features excellent edge support due to its very supportive coils. Sitting down near the edge of the Oceano, it feels secure enough for us to lean over and tie our shoes.

When we lie down near the edge of the Brentwood Home Oceano mattress, the mattress does not collapse at all, and we do not feel like we will roll off and onto the ground.

Brentwood Home Oceano Mattress - Edge Support

Durability

Based on the materials found in the Brentwood Home Oceano, it appears to be a very durable mattress. The coils are high-grade and should add some serious life to the mattress while the foams are high-density and should not sag very quickly.

See the best mattresses that won’t sag.

Off-Gassing

As with any mattress, there is going to be some off-gassing with the Oceano. After we took it out of the box and set it up on the bed frame, it took about 24 to 48 hours for the chemical smell to completely dissipate.

Noise

Even though the Oceano contains coils, it should not be a noisy mattress. We found it very easy to move around on the Oceano without making any real sound.

Sex

Those who need a mattress for sex often want to find something that is responsive and on the firmer end. The Oceano fits both these criteria and should be a good match for those intimate evenings.

Company Policies

Before you buy the Oceano mattress, you may be feeling a bit confused by all the policies that come with it. We’ll break those policies down so you can better understand what you’re getting with your purchase.

Warranty Info

The Oceano mattress comes with a 25-year limited warranty. Understanding a mattress warranty can be tricky, but the main points you need to pay attention to are what’s covered by the warranty and what voids the warranty. Essentially, if your mattress has any flaws due to manufacturing defects, Brentwood Home will replace or repair your mattress as long as the law tag is attached to the mattress, you have proof of purchase with a receipt, and you didn’t do anything else to void the warranty.

Sleep Trial

The Oceano mattress comes with a 1-year sleep trial period. This is a very long trial period compared to most! With Brentwood Home, you get an entire year to try out your mattress in the comfort of your home risk-free.

Return Policy

If you decide the Oceano mattress isn’t a good fit for you during your trial period, you can return the Oceano mattress for a full refund. Brentwood Home does ask that you wait 30 days before initiating a return so that you allow yourself enough time to adjust to the new mattress and break it in.

How Does The Brentwood Home Oceano Compare To Other Mattresses?

When looking for an online mattress, it is always a good idea to do some comparison shopping. Given that this is a bed in a box mattress, it is not possible to actually try it out, so we’re here to talk about how it compares to other similar mattresses.

Brentwood Home Oceano Vs Brentwood Home Cedar

Brentwood Home offers a few mattresses, and the Oceano and Cedar are two of their most popular. While they are both substantial hybrid mattresses, they do feature some different materials.

The Brentwood Home Oceano mattress contains memory foam in its comfort layer while the Cedar is an all-natural latex mattress. The Cedar also contains Alpaca wool on top, while the Oceano does not. These all-natural materials give the Cedar a higher price tag, however.

The construction of the Cedar mattress makes it a bit firmer than the Oceano – on our firmness scale, Marten put the Cedar at an 8/10 and the Oceano at a 7.5/10. Because of this, the Oceano is a more affordable option for back sleepers and, between the two mattresses, the best for side sleepers. The Cedar should be a better match for those who want an eco-friendly mattress that will last for a longer amount of time.

Brentwood Home Oceano Vs DreamCloud

The Brentwood Home Oceano and DreamCloud mattresses feature a very similar construction. They both feature coils in their support layer and then some plush memory foam near the top. The main difference is that the Oceano features two layers of coils and a zoned construction while the DreamCloud does not. The Oceano mattress is also firmer than the DreamCloud – Marten scored the Oceano a 7.5/10 and the DreamCloud a 6.5/10.

DreamCloud Mattress - Construction

It’s more advanced construction gives the Oceano a higher price tag, but it should be a better long-term investment. Also, being the firmer mattress, it will be a better choice for stomach sleepers. Back sleepers and side sleepers who want to spend a bit less money should opt for the DreamCloud.
