Nectar is one of the biggest names in the online mattress game, and the Nectar Luxe is one of the brand’s more elevated models. This all-foam mattress builds on the base Nectar Classic and Nectar Premier models with what the company describes as “enhanced comfort” in the form of upgraded cooling and pressure relief. The Mattress Clarity team checked those claims in our testing studio and evaluated this model’s performance across multiple categories.
As a group, our team of experts has evaluated over 500 mattresses and 150 sleep accessories over the past seven-plus years. In that time, we’ve helped more than 43,000 people find useful sleep products. In 2025 alone, we steered some 6,600 people toward a great new mattress. For this review, we tapped into our collective experience and the expertise of Dr. Raj Dasgupta, our chief medical advisor, and Dr. Hannah Habeeb, our chief medical product tester. That gives us a strong sense of how the Nectar Luxe is likely to perform for different sleep needs and preferences.
Overall, we found this affordable, medium-firm foam mattress to be a strong contender for side and back sleepers. Surprisingly, hot sleepers should be comfortable as well — and that’s somewhat unusual with all-foam beds. Although this bed turned in some solid performances during testing, we were disappointed in its pressure relief and edge support.
Keep reading for our deep dive into the Nectar Luxe, along with our recommendations about the types of sleepers who may find it most aligned with their needs.
Our Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Review in a Nutshell
The Nectar Luxe is a memory foam mattress that wowed our team with its cooling ability. It has a medium-firm feel and the signature squish of memory foam, so it’s a good fit for back and side sleepers who appreciate that sensation. It’s surprisingly responsive given its all-foam construction, but it came up a little short in pressure relief, and its edge support and motion isolation were lacking as well. That means it may not be ideal for couples.
The luxurious Nectar Luxe premium memory foam provides excellent body contouring, making it a good fit for back and side sleepers. Given its all-foam construction, the bed’s cooling ability and responsiveness are impressive. On the downside, it’s a little lacking in pressure relief, and its edge support and motion isolation were only so-so.
Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating
We assess mattresses based on multiple performance categories in our testing methodology. The Nectar Luxe earned an overall score of 4.1 out of 5, earning its highest scores in response and cooling.

Watch Me Test the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Mattress
I Recommend the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam For…
- Side sleepers. This medium-firm foam mattress is softly contouring, so side sleepers can expect plenty of cushioning around the hips and shoulders.
- Back sleepers who prefer more cushioning. If you prefer a classic memory foam feel, you’ll find this mattress delivers — our testers noted that its cushioning top layer fills in the lumbar zone nicely.
- Hot sleepers. Despite its all-foam construction, this bed’s cooling cover does a lot of heavy lifting to combat heat retention.

I Don’t Recommend the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam For…
- Couples. It’s made of memory foam, but this mattress doesn’t dampen motion well. Light sleepers, beware.
- Fans of a very springy bed. While the Luxe responds well for memory foam, it doesn’t have the springy feel of an innerspring or latex model.
- Adults with mobility issues. The edge support isn’t great on this mattress, so it’s not a great pick if you need a sturdy perimeter for getting on and off the bed.

How Firm is the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Mattress?
We use a firmness guide to offer a general idea of how soft or firm a mattress feels when you lie down. While it’s subjective, since individual body weight and sleep style mean everyone perceives firmness differently, it can be a useful baseline. We use a scale of 1 to 10, with higher numbers reflecting a firmer feel. During testing, our team gave the Nectar Luxe a firmness rating of 6.5/10, which is the industry standard for a true medium-firm.

That’s due entirely to the memory foam comfort layer, which provides the signature sinkage this material is known for. Per our in-house tester, “this bed has some give when you lie on it,” though it does a good job of maintaining support. However, our tester, who had a sore shoulder, noted some pressure on that side, so side sleepers with joint issues may find this bed lacks the softness they need.
Our tester is a self-described combination back-and-side sleeper and often experiences back pain on certain issues, but when testing the Nectar Luxe, they said, “I had no issues on this mattress at all. There is great support through the lumbar region and just enough sinkage that you feel cozy and comfortable instead of out of alignment.”
It was a similar experience in the prone position. “I will often feel low back pain when on my stomach, and I didn’t feel that even after spending extended time on my stomach,” they reported, noting lifting in the hips and just enough support to take off any pressure in the low back.
How Does the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?
With its medium-firm feel, the Nectar Luxe is likely to accommodate a fairly wide range of sleepers. Here’s how sleepers in different weight classes should fare in different positions.
| Sleeper Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
| Light (under 130 lbs) | Unpleasant | Good | Good |
| Average (130-230 lbs) | Good | Good | Unpleasant |
| Heavy (over 230 lbs) | Good | Good | Unpleasant |
Heavyweight Tester – 6’4”, 250 lbs
“I think this feels pretty good as a side sleeper.” – In-house tester
Average-weight Tester – 5’4”, 165 lbs
“I think this bed might be one you like more the more you sleep in it.” – Sosha Lewis
Lightweight Tester – 5’5”, 128 lbs
“The mattress does contour well up into my lower back.” – In-house tester
Nectar Luxe Memory Foam In-Depth Test Results
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief describes how well a mattress distributes body weight to reduce pressure on sensitive areas, such as the hips, shoulders, and lower back. Dr. Raj Dasgupta notes that pressure relief is an essential mattress feature for comfort and quality. Because it responds to heat and pressure to mold around the body’s curves, memory foam tends to excel here.
That’s why we were surprised that the Nectar Luxe ended up with a score of 3.8 out of 5. Although we weren’t wowed by its overall pressure relief score, it performed solidly for all but lightweight side sleepers.

To determine this score, we placed a pressure mat on the bed surface and had testers in different weight classes lie down. The mat generated a color-map graphic that highlights areas of pressure. Blues and greens indicate low pressure, while reds and yellows signal high pressure. The mat also provides an average pressure score across the bed’s surface, giving us a sense of overall strain on the body.
Our lightweight sleeper gave the Nectar Luxe 3/5 for pressure relief when she tested it on her side. While she said she felt aligned, she noticed tension in her back. “My shoulders are sinking more than my hips on this mattress,” she said. “I’m comfortable, but I know this will result in soreness in my shoulders.”

That was reflected in her pressure score of 14.46, which is higher than average, especially for lightweight sleepers. Her pressure map reading also showed yellow in her hips and shoulders, indicating moderate pressure.

On her back, the tension moved to her neck and upper shoulders while her hips and back felt good. “I feel more pressure relief lying on my back than I do when I’m on my side,” our tester reported. Her pressure map was mostly blue, with some green in her back and hips. The pressure reading was 11.99, a little lower than average but on the higher side for some lightweight sleepers. Our tester gave the Nectar Luxe 4/5 for pressure relief in this position.
Sosha Lewis, a certified sleep science coach, tested the Nectar Luxe as our average-weight sleeper. While she notes upfront that she’s not a fan of memory foam, she thinks those who do will find the mattress comfortably pressure-relieving on their sides.

Her pressure score was a little higher than usual at 13.11, and her map showed some pressure in the hips. (It’s not typical for an average-weight sleeper to have a lower PSI than a lightweight sleeper. However, in this instance, it’s likely due to the lighter sleeper lacking the weight to sink in and bearing more weight on bonier parts of the body, like the hips and shoulders.) Sosha rated the Nectar Luxe 4/5 on her side.

She was more comfortable on her back, noting that her hips felt balanced and elevated, and her upper back was nicely contoured. “My butt is sinking in, but not too much, and my spine feels straight. It’s great on my upper back,” she said. Her pressure score also dropped to 12.21, and her pressure map showed mostly blue. Still, she gave the bed the same 4/5 score in this position.
Our heavyweight tester noted the bed’s cradling feel when testing in the side position. “I do still feel support, which I don’t always feel on memory foam mattresses,” he said. “The only real pressure build-up I feel is in my hip. My hips definitely feel slightly lower than my shoulder; it’s like a very gentle incline.”

His pressure score was higher at 15.52, but that’s not terrible for heavier sleepers. The pressure map reflected some green in the shoulders, back, and hips, but his overall score was 4/5.
Flipping onto his back, our tester felt very aligned. “The only thing I wish I had more of is contouring in my lower back. I feel some pressure there,” he noted. His pressure score dropped to 14.74, and his map showed less green and much more blue. That earned another score of 4/5, along with a general endorsement of this bed for dedicated back sleepers in this weight range.

We asked Dr. Hannah Habeeb, our chief medical product tester, to weigh in on the Nectar Luxe as well. She falls into the average-weight sleeper category and found it especially well-suited for side sleeping. “It’s really comfortable on the side because it is just so squishy. I don’t feel pressure build up,” she noted, giving it 4.5/5.
On her back, however, the doughiness became a drawback because it affected support in her lumbar zone. “I am comfortable right now, but I can see it being an issue if someone suffers from back pain,” she said, rating it 4/5. She was also cautious about recommending it for stomach sleepers. While she didn’t experience initial pressure, she thinks there is potential for alignment issues down the road. “Heavier areas around the pelvis and midsection will likely need more support in the center of the mattress,” she said, giving it another 4/5 score.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to a bed’s stability along the sides (and occasionally around the entire perimeter). For older adults and those with mobility concerns, or couples looking to maximize sleep space, edge support can be a major consideration. Dr. Raj Dasgupta notes that strong edges contribute to overall comfort and can serve as a useful indication of a bed’s durability. Hybrid mattresses tend to outperform all-foam mattresses in this category, and that’s reflected in the Nectar Luxe’s score of 3.8/5.
Our in-house tester began with a seated edge test on the side of the bed, assessing stability and how easy it was to stand. “The edge compressed a lot, so it was more challenging and would be particularly more challenging if you had mobility issues,” they noted. The Nectar Luxe earned 3/5 here.

Weight distribution can affect how secure you feel on the side of a bed. Shifting to lying down, our tester felt more supported, without the sensation that the edges might collapse beneath their weight and roll them off the bed. That was worth a perfect score of 5/5.
The Nectar Luxe earned full marks again when our tester cycled through different sleep positions on the side of the bed. “It felt good lying down,” they said. “It’s easy to switch positions even on the edge.”
Weight Plate Test
To provide us with a more objective look at how well a mattress supports weight along its perimeter, we also conduct a weight plate test. We place weighted plates representing lightweight, average-weight, and heavyweight sleepers (100 pounds, 150 pounds, and 200 pounds, respectively) and measure the amount of edge compression.

We found that the Nectar Luxe performed well for lightweight and average-weight sleepers, earning 4/5 in both categories. However, the heaviest stack of plates caused the edge to sink 5.25 inches, garnering 3 stars. Those weighing more than 200 pounds may experience instability when sleeping or sitting at the far reaches of the bed.
Cooling
Memory foam doesn’t always perform well in our cooling tests, so imagine our surprise when the Nectar Luxe earned its highest score in this category, 4.5/5. That’s all thanks to the bed’s cooling cover, which really does its job.

Our in-house tester used a heat gun to take the bed’s surface temperature before and after lying on it for roughly seven minutes. The Nectar Luxe increased from 67.8 to 73.6 degrees, a sub-6 degree increase that puts it well into “good cooling” territory.
That was our tester’s subjective experience as well. “This mattress felt incredibly cool for the entire time I was on it. I moved my hands around the mattress to try to detect any areas where it was getting warmer and struggled to find any,” said our tester. They noted that the top of the mattress felt very cool to the touch as well — a reflection of the cover’s heat-wicking fibers.
Motion Isolation
Dr. Raj Dasgupta explains that motion transfer refers to how movement on one side of a mattress affects the other side. “The quality of a mattress is linked to its ability to minimize motion transfer,” he adds. It’s an especially important feature for couples or anyone who shares a bed with a pet. Memory foam tends to shine in this category, but the Nectar Luxe only fared so-so with a 3/5 based on several tests.
In the first test, we placed a glass of water on the bed while our tester moved around on the other side. As our tester got in and out of bed, the water moved aggressively — to the point that the glass itself was at risk of falling over. That earned a score of 3/5.
Our tester then rotated between different sleeping positions, observing how this activity affected the glass. It was extensive. “The water never spilled out of the glass, but there were a few times I was nervous that the glass would tip over and I’d be soaked,” reported our product expert, who gave the Nectar Luxe another 3/5.

For the third and final motion isolation test, one tester rested on the bed with a blindfold while another moved around on the other side. Again, the Nectar Luxe’s performance wasn’t great, earning the same 3/5 score. “You can feel absolutely every movement your partner makes on this bed,” said our tester, noting that it wasn’t especially aggressive, but it was definitely noticeable. If you’re a light sleeper with a restless bed partner, you may find this problematic. Based on its performance here, we think there are better mattresses for couples.
Response
Response describes how easy it is to move around on a mattress, and it’s especially important for combination sleepers who need to rotate easily through different sleep positions without feeling stuck. While a quick response time isn’t a hallmark of memory foam, which is known for its slow-moving feel, the Nectar Luxe earned one of its top scores here with 4/5.

Our tester made a point of lying on the mattress for a few minutes before moving to a different position. “I wanted to make sure I had sunk into the bed enough before trying to move,” she explained. While she did sink, it wasn’t deep enough to make changing positions overly difficult: “I’d say minimal effort is needed for switches between all positions.”
Sinkage: Moderate
To measure sinkage, we place a 44-pound kettlebell on the center of the bed. The Nectar Luxe sank 3.75 inches, which qualifies as moderate sinkage. It’s a reflection of a slightly more balanced feel than many memory foam beds, and why the response score is higher than usual.

Bounce: Low
Testing a mattress’s bounce is pretty fun. We drop a weighted ball onto the surface and see how high it goes. All-foam mattresses don’t usually score high in this category, and that was the case here. The ball bounced a mere 6 inches, which qualifies as low bounce. It’s a sign that the Nectar Luxe is more squishy than springy.

Noise
To test for noise, we press, prod, and roll around to see whether we can make a bed emit any sound. Unsurprisingly, the all-foam Nectar Luxe was perfectly silent, without even the hiss of air escaping foam. Light sleepers who are easily disturbed by sounds should have no issues.
Sex
To determine whether a mattress might be good for sex, we average the scores from our response, edge support, and noise tests. The Nectar Luxe got high scores in two of these categories — it was easy to move around on, and it didn’t make any distracting noises. But its edge support isn’t great, so sexual partners will want to keep their activities to the middle of the bed. Overall, the bed earned 4.1/5 in this category, making it a good mattress for sex.
Adjustable Base Compatibility
While Nectar says all of its mattresses are compatible with adjustable bases, we tested them ourselves and wouldn’t consider them a great match. Our in-house tester noted that the center had a noticeable gap, which isn’t uncommon, but the feet were elevated completely off the base.

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Customer Experience Scores
We base our customer experience scores on brand policies and individual mattress performance right out of the box. Here’s how the Nectar Luxe fared.
Trial Period
Nectar has one of the most generous sleep trials in the mattress world. Customers get a full 365 nights to test the brand’s mattresses.
If you decide it’s not a good fit, you can initiate a return after a 30-day break-in period all the way up to day 365 of the sleep trial.
Warranty
Nectar’s “Forever Warranty” is a limited lifetime warranty that protects the original owner against material and workmanship defects for the entire time they own the mattress.
Note that Nectar is explicit about what isn’t covered, and using an improper or unsupportive foundation or base can void the warranty.
Unboxing and Off-gassing
The Nectar Luxe ships compressed, rolled, and placed in a box. It can take between 24 and 7 hours to fully expand.
Since it’s made with synthetic foam layers, expect some degree of off-gassing. Our testers detected a noticeable “new mattress” smell, but it was relatively mild and dissipated within a few days.
Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Construction
The clue is in the name — the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Mattress is made with memory foam. Here’s what else to know about its construction.
Mattress Height & Weight
The Nectar Luxe is one of the brand’s more premium models, and that’s reflected in its 14-inch height. It’s a little taller than the standard 12-inch mattress, so be prepared for a little extra height on your existing base, box spring, and bed frame.
A queen-size Nectar Luxe weighs a little under 100 pounds, so be prepared to recruit a friend to help you wrestle the box to the bedroom.
Materials
The Nectar Luxe combines a cooling cover with CertiPUR-US certified memory foam comfort layers and a thick support foam layer.
Layers

The Nectar Luxe has a soft fabric cover. According to the brand, it’s woven with cooling fibers for an immediate cooling sensation and has an antimicrobial treatment for freshness.
There are two layers of memory foam. The first is three inches thick for contouring and pressure relief. It’s not gel memory foam — the bed’s cooling ability comes from its cover. But this layer is what gives the bed its signature sinkage. A more responsive layer of foam below, also measuring three inches, promotes spinal alignment.
At the base of the mattress is an 8-inch block of foundational foam, which serves as the bed’s support layer. The bottom of the bed also has a heavy-duty fabric cover to resist shifting.
How To Try and Buy The Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Mattress
Nectar mattresses are available on the Nectar website. The brand also has over 4,000 retail partners across the country, if you prefer to see and feel a mattress before checkout. Just remember to call ahead, since not every store will have all Nectar models in stock.
Nectar mattresses have a 365-night sleep trial, with no fees for returns. Just keep in mind that returns aren’t accepted if you live in Alaska or Hawaii.

How the Nectar Luxe Memory Foam Compares
When you’re shopping for a new mattress, comparisons are always helpful. Here’s how the Nectar Luxe stacks up to other popular models.
- DreamCloud Premier Mattress – Slightly softer
- Helix Midnight Mattress – Better for couples
- Nolah Signature All-Foam Hybrid Mattress – More pressure relief

Nectar Luxe Memory Foam vs. DreamCloud Premier Hybrid
Right off the bat, construction is a key differentiator between these two beds. The DreamCloud Premier is a hybrid mattress, so it has a coil layer that contributes to a much better edge support score of 4.4/5, plus a perfect 5/5 for responsiveness. Combination sleepers are likely to fare much better based on that alone, and couples who need a little more elbow space may also prefer the DreamCloud.
But in spite of its breathable coil layer, the DreamCloud only scored 3.5/5 in our cooling tests. Surprisingly, the Nectar Luxe may be the better choice for hot sleepers thanks to that cooling cover.
For shoppers on a tight budget, the DreamCloud Premier is the slightly cheaper option. A queen-size retails for $1,099 compared to $1,249 for the Nectar Luxe in the same size.

Read more in our DreamCloud Premier Hybrid review.
Nectar Luxe Memory Foam vs. Helix Midnight
The Helix Midnight is another hybrid mattress, so it outperformed the Nectar Luxe in our edge support tests. Both models share the same medium-firm feel and 6.5/10 firmness rating, but that translated to much better pressure relief in the Midnight. It scored an impressive 4.5/5 in our tests. Between these two options, the Midnight might be the best mattress choice for side sleepers.
Couples may also prefer the Midnight for its motion isolation and edge support, which outperformed the Nectar Luxe. But again, the Nectar mattress came out ahead in cooling, which is likely to appeal to hot sleepers.
Nectar also offers a more generous sleep trial. The Helix Midnight has a 120-night sleep trial, but both brands offer a limited lifetime warranty.

Get more details in our Helix Midnight review.
Nectar Luxe Memory Foam vs. Nolah Signature
The Nolah Signature is an all-foam mattress like the Nectar Luxe. It’s a little shorter at 12 inches, so it might lack the luxury association, but both beds share the same medium-firm feel. The two beds also earned our recommendations for back and side sleeping, though the Nolah offers a tad more pressure relief than the Nectar.
Neither bed performed particularly well in edge support, but the Nectar came out slightly ahead with 3.4/5 compared to 3/5 for the Nolah. The Nectar likewise edged out the Nolah in response and cooling, but the Nolah is the better choice for motion isolation. If you’re a light sleeper who shares the bed, take note.
You’ll also save a little money with the Nolah Signature. A queen is just under $1,800 at full price, but the brand offers regular discounts that bring the sale price down to $1,169.
