Juno Mattress Firmness and Feel

Firmness and feel are two of the most important factors to consider when you shop for a new bed. Here’s what the Juno has to offer:

How Firm is the Juno?

Here at Mattress Clarity, we use a firmness scale that ranges from 1 – 10, with 6.5/10 representing the industry standard of medium-firm. The Juno mattress feels slightly softer than this, coming in at 6/10. Of course, firmness is a bit subjective, and it can change depending on your body type.

Sleeping On The Juno

Lightweight and average weight sleepers should feel comfy while resting on their backs and sides. Heavier side sleepers, on the other hand, might develop some joint pain. We don’t recommend this mattress for stomach sleepers because it doesn’t provide the optimal amount of hip support. If this is your preferred sleeping position, you run the risk of developing lower back pain. Check out our list of the best mattresses for stomach sleepers for some better options.

What Does the Juno Feel Like?

The Juno mattress has a classic slow-moving memory foam feel that offers a generous amount of body contouring. Because it gently hugs the body, however, it can be difficult for some folks to move around on top of this mattress.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb

Average weight sleepers should feel comfy while back and side sleeping. Even though it’s a thinner mattress, folks in this weight range should feel an adequate amount of lumbar support in these sleeping positions. The Juno mattress isn’t a great choice for average weight stomach sleepers, though — it’s just not firm enough.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb

Heavyweight sleepers who weigh closer to 230 lb might feel supported while back sleeping, but generally, we don’t recommend the Juno for heavier folks. This bed has a simple construction, and even though the base layer offers decent support for smaller folks, heavier people could “bottom out” on this bed. Check out our list of the best mattresses for heavy people for some more supportive options.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb

Lightweight sleepers should feel comfortable while back and side sleeping. We still don’t recommend this bed for lightweight stomach sleepers, because this bed feels slightly softer than average. It’s possible that even smaller people could get their backs out of alignment when resting in this sleeping position.

Juno Mattress Construction

What’s this bed made out of? Let’s peel back the covers and check it out!

Mattress Height

The Juno mattress is 8” tall.

Cover

Around the outside, you’ll find Juno’s Great Canadian Knit cover. This soft and cozy cover features a red and white maple leaf design along the foot of the bed.

Comfort Layer

The Juno’s comfort layer contains a layer of the company’s Full Body Cooling Gel foam, which feels slow-moving and pressure relieving. Many all-foam mattresses tend to trap heat, but thanks to its gel infusion and open-celled construction, the Juno feels breathable and cool.

Support Layer

Beneath the comfort layer sits a thick piece of Juno’s Durable Total Support Foam. This high-density base layer offers lumbar support and helps isolate motion.

Juno Mattress Performance

We can’t just look at firmness, feel, and construction! It’s also important to examine the performance features. Keep reading to learn more about the Juno’s motion isolation, edge support, and more.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

For an all-foam mattress, the Juno sleeps relatively cool. The open-celled comfort layer promotes airflow, and the gel infusion helps pull heat away from the body. However, if you’re a particularly hot sleeper, you might want to opt for one of the best cooling mattresses. Hybrid beds tend to have more breathability, and some cooling mattresses even feature covers that feel cool to the touch.

Motion Transfer

If you share a bed with a loved one, you’ll want to find a mattress that isolates motion well. Otherwise, you might wake up if your partner shifts sleeping positions during the night.

Fortunately, the Juno mattress performs exceptionally well when it comes to motion transfer. When we tested this mattress, we hardly felt any movement coming from the other side of the bed.

Edge Support

Edge support is another important factor to consider, especially if you share a bed with someone. If a bed collapses when you rest along the side, you may be forced to sleep closer to the center of the mattress.

A woman sits on the edge of the Juno mattress

Because it’s a value mattress, the Juno doesn’t have great edge support. You’ll likely feel yourself sink through the top comfort layer and into the base foam below. If this is an important element for you, consider getting one of the best mattresses for couples.

Durability

The Juno mattress is sold at a budget-friendly price, but that also means it’s less durable than others you’ll find on the market. Most mattresses last 7 – 10 years, but we expect the Juno to only last about five years.

Off-Gassing

The Juno is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it does emit a slight chemical smell whenever you take it out of the packaging. In the mattress industry, we call this process “off-gassing,” and it’s nothing to worry about. Just be sure to wait 48 hours before you sleep on it – that will give it plenty of time to air out and expand.

Noise

The Juno is a silent mattress, and we don’t expect it to create sound as time goes on.

Sex

If you’re looking for one of the best mattresses for sex, the Juno probably isn’t the bed for you. This mattress has a slow-moving feel, and it could make some people feel “stuck” inside the layers. Look for a responsive and springy mattress if you want to ensure you and your partner can move around easily.

Company Policies

Don’t rush off to buy it just yet! It’s always important to understand the company policies beforehand.

Warranty Info

The Juno mattress is backed by a 15-year warranty.

Sleep Trial

You also get a 120-night sleep trial period when you purchase a Juno mattress.

Return Policy

If you’re not happy with your purchase, you can return it for a full refund. Just make sure it’s within the initial sleep trial period.

Common Juno Mattress Complaints

Most people love their Juno mattress, but it’s not great for everyone. Most of the complaints came from larger people who found themselves “bottoming out” on this bed. The Juno mattress is better suited for smaller folks.

How Does The Juno Compare To Other Mattresses?

Before we wrap up, let’s compare the Juno mattress with two other popular Canadian beds: Polysleep and Logan & Cove!

Juno vs Polysleep

Polysleep is one of the best Canadian mattresses, and it’s easy to see why! However, it’s very different from the Juno, so each bed works better for different types of people.

For example, the original Polysleep mattress feels much firmer than the Juno – coming in at 7/10 on our firmness scale. This makes it a better choice for average weight stomach sleepers and heavier folks.

Polysleep - Construction

The Polysleep mattress also feels more responsive than the Juno, but it does have a higher price point.

Who Should Get The Juno Mattress?

  • People on tight budgets
  • Fans of a slow-moving feel
  • Lightweight people

Who Should Get The Polysleep Mattress?

  • People who want a firmer mattress
  • Fans of responsive beds
  • Heavier people

Check out our Polysleep mattress review.

Juno vs Logan & Cove

The Logan & Cove is a luxury hybrid mattress, so it’s vastly different from the Juno. First of all, the Logan & Cove mattress has a classic medium-firm feel, and it feels more bouncy and responsive than the Juno.

Because it has a layer of coils at the bottom, the Logan & Cove mattress sleeps cooler than the Juno. The innersprings allow room for airflow, so if you are concerned about sleeping hot at night, this is the better option.

A side view of the Logan and Cove mattress

The Logan & Cove mattress costs more than the Juno, however, so it may not work for everyone’s budget.

Who Should Get The Juno Mattress?

  • Fans of softer mattresses
  • People who want to save money
  • Fans of all-foam beds

Who Should Get The Logan & Cove?

  • Those looking for a luxury hybrid mattress
  • People who want a bed with a medium-firm feel
  • Folks who want a bed that feels more responsive

FAQs

Want to learn more? Check out our FAQ section below.

How long will the Juno mattress last?

Because the Juno mattress is a budget-friendly bed, it won’t last as long as others on the market. Most beds last between seven and 10 years, but the Juno will probably only last about five years.

Can you flip the Juno mattress?

No, the Juno isn’t a flippable mattress. It has high-density support foam on the bottom and a comfort layer on top. If you flipped it, the mattress wouldn’t feel comfortable.

What if I don’t like my Juno mattress?

If you don’t like your Juno mattress, you can return it and receive a full refund – as long as it’s within the 120-night sleep trial period.
