Sleeping On the DreamCloud and Puffy Cloud Mattresses
I slept on both mattresses and tried them out in all three sleeping positions. When I slept on my back on the DreamCloud, it was just comfortable and supportive enough for me. While it’s a firmer mattress, my hips still sank into the pillow top while the rest of the mattress supported my body.
Side sleeping, the DreamCloud was too firm for me. This is unsurprising as softer mattresses are usually better for side sleeping. The firmer DreamCloud led to some pressure build-up around my shoulders and hips.
Stomach sleeping, the DreamCloud was decently supportive. However, I’m a larger person and weigh 270 lb. As I’ll discuss below, average weight and lightweight stomach sleepers should feel better support than I did.
Moving to the Puffy Cloud mattress, I also found it to be a good match for back sleeping. I felt the top foam layers conform to my curves while the firmer layers beneath supported me.
Side sleeping on the Puffy Cloud, I felt some better pressure relief than I felt on the DreamCloud mattress. That being said, I still pushed far into the mattress and felt some discomfort around my shoulders and hips. Read below to see how this might differ for lightweight and average weight side sleepers.
Stomach sleeping, the Puffy Cloud was too soft for my taste. I felt my hips sink down into the mattress, and this caused some pain in my lower back.
What Do The DreamCloud and Puffy Cloud Mattresses Feel Like?
The DreamCloud mattress has a bouncy hybrid feel that makes it very easy to move around. Lying down, it feels more like I am lying on top of the mattress instead of in the mattress. While the mattress is firmer, you also get a bit of that plush pillow top feel right on top.
Without coils, the Puffy Cloud is not quite as bouncy as the DreamCloud mattress. However, it is still a responsive mattress with a balanced foam feel. I sank in a fair bit, but I never felt like I was stuck.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight back sleepers should prefer sleeping on the Puffy Cloud mattress. The DreamCloud mattress might feel too firm for back sleepers in this weight range, and they could feel their hips being pushed out of the mattress. The softer Puffy Cloud mattress should provide an even better balance of comfort and support.
Side sleeping, the Puffy Cloud is also going to be the winner. It is softer than the DreamCloud and should feel even softer for average weight people. They won’t press as far into the mattress as a heavier person might, so they should mostly feel soft pressure relief on their shoulders and hips.
Average weight stomach sleepers are going to want to choose the DreamCloud mattress. It will offer better support than the Puffy Cloud mattress and should prevent the hips from sinking too far into the mattress.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
Heavyweight back sleepers should feel more supported on the DreamCloud mattress. Without coils, the Puffy Cloud mattress might not be able to handle those heavier weights. The Puffy Cloud mattress might not be a bad match for those who weigh less than 275 lb, but the DreamCloud should be the better back sleeper option overall.

I ran the DreamCloud and Puffy through a number of tests to see how they perform with regard to cooling, motion transfer, and other criteria. Let’s see how they did!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
While the DreamCloud and Puffy Cloud both feature gel memory foam and other breathable materials, the DreamCloud should sleep a bit cooler. This is because of the coils you find in its support layer. They will allow for more airflow than the foam you find in the Puffy Cloud’s support layer.

Motion Transfer
Motion transfer is important to consider if you need a mattress for couples. Motion transfer occurs when one partner moves around on a mattress, and their partner feels it on the other’s side of the mattress. Some mattresses are better at handling this motion transfer, and others are not.
Between the two mattresses, the Puffy Cloud boasts the better motion isolation. I saw less motion transfer on the Puffy Cloud, mostly due to its all-foam construction. All-foam, memory foam mattresses perform better with motion isolation, and the Puffy Cloud is no exception.

Couples should also think about edge support when they’re shopping for a mattress. A mattress with good edge support will give you and your partner more room to sleep.
Neither mattress featured fantastic edge support. Sitting near the edge of the DreamCloud and Puffy, I felt the mattresses collapse under my weight.
Lying down near the edge of the DreamCloud, I also felt a bit like I would roll off. I felt more secure lying down near the edge of the Puffy Cloud, but the support still wasn’t the best.
Durability
The DreamCloud and Puffy Cloud mattresses both feature some high-quality materials and should last for at least 7 years. The DreamCloud should last a bit longer because it contains coils. These usually add some life to a bed-in-a-box mattress.
Off-gassing
Off-gassing occurs when you unbox most online mattresses. The trapped gasses escape the now-unwrapped mattress and can let off a chemical smell. This is normal, and the smell will usually go away after 48 hours.
There was some off-gassing with both the DreamCloud and the Puffy Cloud. I gave both mattresses a few days to completely off-gas and expand, and there were no smells after that.
Noise
When I moved around on the DreamCloud and Puffy Cloud mattresses, I didn’t hear any noise. There were no squeaks, creaks, or groans.
Keep in mind that hybrid mattresses like the DreamCloud might start to squeak after you have had them for a few years. This happens when you’ve slept on a mattress for a while, and the coils start to weaken.
Sex
If you want a great mattress for sex, find a bouncy, responsive mattress. This will make it easier for you and your partner to move around.
While both mattresses should be good for sex, the DreamCloud is the better option. It is firmer, bouncier, and does not let you sink in so far. It will be even easier to move around on the DreamCloud.
