Copper-infused memory foam mattresses tend to fetch a hefty price tag. But the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex is one of the most affordable mattresses on the market, and the brandโs most economical model.
However, does its bargain basement pricing mean it skimps on comfort or quality?
To find out, we tested the bed according to our comprehensive methodology.
Our testing process was developed by the Mattress Clarity team, which has tested over 500 mattresses and more than 150 sleep accessories over the past seven years. In 2025 alone, we helped more than 6,600 people find a new bed.
After putting the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex through a series of tests, we determined this budget-friendly foam mattress offers a firm, responsive surface that works particularly well for couples and combination sleepers. If youโre on the hunt for an affordable all-foam model, hereโs what else to know about the CopperFlex.
Our Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Review in a Nutshell
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex is an affordable all-foam model that runs quite a bit firmer than you might expect. We found its lifted feel worked well for back and stomach sleeping, as long as youโre a fan of minimal contouring. Combination sleepers will appreciate the bedโs ease of movement, and we think couples will really appreciate its stellar edge support and motion isolation. However, dedicated side sleepers may find it too unforgiving around the hips and shoulders, and weโd also warn very hot sleepers that this modelโs cooling ability is only so-so.
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Memory Foam Mattress is a value-priced model with a firm, lifted feel. It wowed us with its outstanding edge support and motion isolation, which makes it ideal for couples, and it earned a perfect response score. Combination sleepers should have no problem moving around. On the downside, that firmness means the CopperFlex doesnโt offer much in the way of pressure relief, and weโd advise dedicated side sleepers and fans of a traditional memory foam feel to look for something softer.
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating
Our testers use the same rigorous methodology to assess all of the beds we test. We consider a range of performance categories to figure out which sleepers might do best on a particular model. The CopperFlex performed quite well, earning an overall rating of 4.6/5. Thatโs even more impressive when you consider the price point โ a queen-size is $865 before the brandโs evergreen sales, which can bring the cost down to less than $650.
While the CopperFlex wowed us in responsiveness, edge support, and motion isolation, it did come up a little short in pressure relief and cooling. It means this model is better suited to combination sleepers and couples than to people with joint pain or overheating concerns.

I Recommend the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Forโฆ
- Budget shoppers. Price-wise, the CopperFlex is an entry-level mattress. Even the largest sizes are priced under $1,000, with frequent sales, but we were impressed with the bedโs construction and performance.
- Couples. When you share a bed, strong edge support and minimal motion transfer can be the key to more peaceful nights. The CopperFlex delivers on both, and weโre very comfortable recommending it to people who co-sleep.
- Combination sleepers. The CopperFlex earned a perfect score for responsiveness. It has a firm, lifted feel with little sinkage, so itโs really easy to roll around.

I Donโt Recommend the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Forโฆ
- Dedicated side sleepers. We found the CopperFlex much firmer than advertised, and thereโs not much in the way of contouring. Weโd steer those who spend the whole night on their sides towards a mattress thatโs more forgiving around the hips and shoulders.
- Fans of a plush feel. If you want the classic memory feel โ soft and cradling around the bodyโs curves โ you wonโt find that here. It has a much firmer, lifted sensation.
- Eco-conscious shoppers. This is a memory foam mattress, which means itโs made with synthetic materials. If sustainability is high on your priority list, consider one of our picks of the best organic mattresses instead.

How Firm is the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Mattress?

Mattress firmness is simply an indication of how soft or firm a mattress feels. Hereโs the thing: that often changes from person to person, since body weight and sleep style influence individual perception. Itโs best to consider a mattress firmness rating a guideline, not a guarantee.
The Mattress Clarity firmness rating is based on a scale of 1 to 10. The lower the number, the softer the mattress is likely to feel. A 6.5 rating is the industry standard and indicative of a classic medium-firm feel. The CopperFlex veered firmer than that. We rated it 7.5/10 based on feedback from our average-weight tester.
That firmness didnโt accommodate side sleeping well at all, especially for our tester with sensitive joints. She noted that while she sank in a little bit, she was primarily on top of the mattress. The cushioning was minimal, and most people are likely to find itโs just too firm.
On the other hand, it worked well for back sleeping. โMy hips and shoulders feel very aligned, and thereโs even weight distribution across my whole body,โ noted our tester. While the CopperFlex delivered on excellent spinal support, our tester did wish for a touch more plushness and contouring in the lumbar zone.
The CopperFlex was a great match for stomach sleeping. It properly elevated our testerโs hips without causing chest discomfort. โMy hips and shoulders were perfectly even with one another, and I felt no bending at my lumbar spine,โ our tester reported.
How Does the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?
We rated the CopperFlex a 7.5/10 on our firmness scale. Hereโs how that might work across different weight classes and sleep positions.
| Sleeper Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
| Light (under 130 lbs) | Unpleasant | Good | Good |
| Average (130-230 lbs) | Unpleasant | Good | Excellent |
| Heavy (over 230 lbs) | Unpleasant | Excellent | Excellent |
Heavyweight Tester โ 6โ7โ, 270 lbs
โTypically, as a bigger guy, I need more support in my lumbar area and on my back. I felt really good on this mattress. It does feel a little soft to me overall, but itโs providing great alignment throughout my body,โ said Marten Carlson, lead mattress reviewer (evaluating an earlier version of the CopperFlex with a similar firmness)

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex In-Depth Test Results
Pressure Relief
Spending hours on a mattress means pressure on certain parts of the body. If the mattress doesnโt absorb that pressure well, youโll feel it in the morning. Memory foam tends to perform well at relieving pressure because it contours closely to the body and evenly distributes weight. But firmness plays a role here.
According to sleep expert Dr. Raj Dasgupta, the best pressure point relief comes from a medium-soft to medium-firm mattress. Thatโs likely why the CopperFlex earned one of its lowest scores here, with 3.8 out of 5. That was based on subjective feedback from testers in all three weight categories, along with the results of a pressure map we placed directly on the mattress. It generates a graphic illustrating areas of high and low pressure, along with a score.
Our testers assess pressure on their sides and their backs.
Lightweight Tester Evaluations
For our lightweight tester, the CopperFlex was much too firm. While she didnโt describe it as hard as a rock, she wanted more contouring to feel fully relaxed. Still, her PSI was on the low side at 9.61. She gave the bed a 3.5/5 in this position.
On her back, the CopperFlex was much more comfortable. She felt properly supported across the lumbar zone and hips, with no notable pressure points. That was reflected in her low PSI score of 8.76. That earned the bed a 4 out of 5.

Average-Weight Tester Evaluations
Our average-weight tester scored the CopperFlex the same way. Her PSI was 10.76 when she tested it on her side, but it wasnโt a positive experience. โI have sensitive hip and shoulder joints, and I did not like this mattress on my side,โ she said. If you prefer deep contouring and pressure relief, youโre likely to be disappointed here.

On her back, our testerโs PSI dropped to 9. โMy hips and shoulders feel very aligned, and thereโs even weight distribution across my whole body,โ she said. But she added that she would have preferred a bit more plushness to support her lumbar spine. โThereโs not necessarily a gap at my lower back, but itโs not lifting this area,โ she explained.
Heavyweight Tester Evaluations
Marten Carlson, our heavyweight tester, tried out an earlier version of the CopperFlex, which we rated at the same 7.5/10 firmness. He felt pretty good on his side, noting good support and little to no pressure in his hips and shoulders. His PSI was 13.22, which isnโt too high for this weight class.
Edge Support
When we talk about edge support, it refers to how stable the bed feels along the sides. For some people, itโs an important feature. That includes couples who need room to spread out, especially when theyโre sharing a smaller mattress size, and adults with mobility issues that make it tricky to get in and out of bed easily. While hybrid mattresses typically outshine all-foam models, the CopperFlex performed very well, earning 4.8/5 across three tests.
Subjective Edge Support Evaluations
Our tester began with a seated test to assess the stability you might expect when sitting on the side to tie your shoes or get into bed. โI instantly sank an inch or two before I was caught by the firm base layers,โ she said. But once she was settled, the CopperFlex felt as stable as a solid chair with a comfy cushion on top. โI felt very secure and stable sitting there, and I could for sure tie a shoe or sit and ponder,โ she noted. That earned a perfect 5/5.
In the second test, she lay down close to the edge of the bed. It felt as firm and supportive as the rest of the mattress. โI could really get up close to the edge without feeling like I was about to fall,โ she reported, adding that there was no sloping sensation, just even lift and support. It was impressive enough to earn another perfect score.

Objective Edge Support Tests
The third test is objective. We use three stacks of weighted plates to represent light-, average-, and heavyweight-sleeper classes. Those stacks are placed on the edge of the bed, and we measure how far the layers sink. The lightweight stack sank 2 inches, earning full marks. The average-weight stack sank just 2.5 inches, which was another 5/5. The heavyweight stack sank a respectable 3.25 inches, garnering a score of 4/5.

Cooling
Memory foam is notorious for trapping heat. Itโs why many brands opt for gel infusions or copper particles, which can help combat heat retention. Unfortunately, the CopperFlex earned its lowest score in this category at 3/5.
Our tester used a thermal gun to take the bedโs surface temperature before and after lying on it for about seven minutes. The CopperFlex increased by 11.8 degrees, from 65.4 to 77.2. โAlthough copper is known for dissipating heat and drawing heat away from the body, I did not experience any obvious cooling effects,โ noted our tester. Overall, she described the CopperFlex as having very average cooling abilities across the board. If overheating at night is an issue, consider our picks of the best cooling mattresses.

Motion Isolation
Motion isolation describes how well a bedโs materials and construction keep movement from rippling from one side to the other. For couples or anyone who shares the bed with a partner, itโs an important feature. Plus, Dr. Dasgupta notes that mattress quality is closely linked to its ability to minimize motion transfer. Memory foam tends to shine here, and the CopperFlex earned a high score of 4.5/5 based on two tests.
Water Ripple Test
For the first test, we put a glass of water on one side of the bed. On the other side, our tester gets in and out and rolls around to see how those movements affect the water. The CopperFlex did well here, earning 4.5/5. While the water moved in the glass, it wasnโt quick or aggressive โ just light swaying with no risk of spilling.

Partner Test
To test how the bed feels when you sleep with a partner, we have one tester wear a sleep mask and rest on one side of the bed while a second tester gets on and off and rolls around on the other side. The blindfolded tester raises a hand when they feel movement. โI could feel whenever my partner got in and out of bed and moved around, but it was very very subtle,โ said our tester. That earned another 4.5/5, which is well above the average bed we test.

Response
Memory foam is known for its slow-moving feel, but the firmer nature of the CopperFlex means it has a much more lifted sensation. That translated to an excellent response time, meaning the bed was very easy to move around on. It was so easy, our testers gave it a perfect score of 5/5.
โThe mattress is pretty firm, so youโre not sinking too far,โ reported our tester. โItโs easy to roll around on the bed, and I donโt feel stuck in the layers.โ While the CopperFlex has impressive ease of movement, donโt assume itโs springy. Our tester said thereโs pretty much zero bounce due to the firm foam design.
Sinkage: Moderate
To measure sinkage, we put a kettlebell on the bed and use a ruler to see how far it sinks. The CopperFlex sank 3.25 inches, which is in the moderate range. That means the bed doesnโt have a plush, contouring feel, but it shouldnโt feel completely flat either.

Bounce: High
We test a bedโs bounce by dropping a weighted ball on it and measuring how high the ball goes. Usually, itโs the hybrid and innerspring models that earn the top scores here. But at 18 inches, the CopperFlexโs bounce qualifies as high.
This is at odds with what our tester found when evaluating how easy it was to turn over in bed. Subjectively, the tester didnโt find it very bouncy. However, the firm foam allowed the ball to bounce high. Therefore, sleepers may not feel the pushback of innerspring coils; they may still find it responsive enough to move about easily.

Noise
While you might assume a foam mattress would make no noise, thatโs not always the case. Foams can make a hissing sound as air escapes, which can be disruptive for very light sleepers. Fortunately, that wasnโt the case here. We poked, pressed, and prodded the CopperFlex, but it stayed completely silent, earning another perfect score.
Sex
To calculate a score for this category, we average scores from the response, edge support, and noise categories. Those are features that contribute to a good mattress for sex. The CopperFlex came pretty darn close to perfect here, thanks to its excellent responsiveness, strong edges, and lack of noise. We think it will support and not hinder sexual activities.
Adjustable Base Compatibility
For all its strengths, the CopperFlex wasnโt terribly compatible with the adjustable base in our studio. Our tester thought it was too firm to bend properly, which meant it lifted at the foot and left a decent gap between the bed and base when we tested the zero gravity position. We gave it 3/5 for this category.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Customer Experience Scores
Shopping online for a mattress creates a unique customer experience. If you buy the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex, hereโs what to expect.

Trial Period
Buying a bed sight-unseen can feel risky. What happens if you donโt like it? To put customers at ease, manufacturers offer sleep trials that provide a predetermined window of time to test a mattress at home. If it doesnโt work out, they can return it.
With the CopperFlex, you get a 120-night sleep trial. Itโs not quite as generous as the 365-night trial offered by competitors, but itโs still a reasonable length of time to assess the bed and decide whether it meets your needs. Just remember that the brand asks customers to sleep on the bed for at least 30 days before starting a return, since it can take a few weeks to adjust to a new bed. A $99 return fee applies if you decide the CopperFlex isnโt for you.
Based on the trial length and the return fee, we gave the CopperFlex 4.5/5 for this category.
Warranty
Brooklyn Bedding offers a limited lifetime warranty that covers workmanship and material defects. The โlimitedโ part means that customers with warranty claims can expect a repair or replacement at no cost for the first 10 years. After year 11, coverage is prorated, meaning repairs or replacements are subject to a sliding fee scale. Still, we think itโs a substantial warranty overall so we gave it 4.5/5.
Unboxing and Moving
The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex is a bed-in-a-box, so it ships compressed and rolled in a giant box. Fortunately, itโs quite light, so itโs easy to move and unbox. โI donโt think the average person will need help maneuvering a queen-size,โ said our tester.

Off-gassing
Compressed mattresses often emit a noticeable chemical smell when theyโre unboxed, and it can linger for several days or longer. But our tester didnโt detect any odor at all while testing the CopperFlex and gave it 5/5 for off-gassing.
Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Construction
Our testers spent a lot of time evaluating the CopperFlexโs performance, but they also paid attention to its construction. As part of our testing process, we cut into the cover on the side of the mattress for a closer look at whatโs inside.
Mattress Height & Weight
The all-foam CopperFlex stands 12 inches tall. Depending on size, it weighs between 55 and 100 pounds.
Materials
The CopperFlex Memory Foam Mattress is made with six layers of foam. A soft knit quilted cover encases the mattress.
Layers

The quilted foam top is an inch thick. Below that is the 1.5-inch copper-infused foam layer for pressure relief. That sits above three-quarters of an inch of contouring foam and a 3-inch layer of transition foam. The fifth foam layer is three-quarters of an inch with zoned lumbar support in the center third of the mattress.
The support layer is 5 inches of high-density foam for durability and structure.

How The Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Compares
While the CopperFlex has a lot to offer, particularly given the price tag, it wonโt deliver for everyone. Side sleepers and fans of a more traditional memory foam feel may want to consider other models.

- DreamCloud Classic Hybrid โ Better Cooling
- Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid โ Choice of Firmness

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex vs. Nectar Classic Hybrid
The Nectar Classic Hybrid has the doughy, cushioning feel of memory foam, but it doesnโt skimp on support thanks to its pocketed coil layer. That translates to excellent pressure relief for sleepers across all weight classes. We were also impressed with the cooling ability and motion isolation of this memory foam hybrid. While the latter is common for memory foam, the former isnโt. Hot sleepers who love that hugged sensation should fare well.
On the other hand, this hybrid model came up well short in edge support. For couples who need to maximize their sleep space and minimize nighttime disruptions, the CopperFlex is probably the better call.
Both mattresses are economically priced, with a queen Nectar Classic Hybrid retailing for $849. Itโs a few hundred dollars more than the CopperFlex on sale, but the Nectar has a 365-night sleep trial. That adds to its overall value.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex vs. DreamCloud Classic Hybrid
There are a lot of similarities between the CopperFlex and the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid. The DreamCloud is comparably priced at $699 for a queen. It has the same firmness rating, but it offers better pressure relief with a touch of cushioning for the hips, shoulders, and lumbar region. Both beds earned the same perfect response score, so either model works for combination sleepers.
We think the CopperFlex is the better choice for couples, since it outperformed the DreamCloud in our motion-isolation and edge-support tests. But the DreamCloud edged out the CopperFlex in cooling. For hot sleepers choosing between these two budget-friendly mattresses, the DreamCloud is the better option.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex vs. Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid
The Signature Hybrid is another Brooklyn Bedding model. It shares the same sleep trial and limited lifetime warranty, but itโs the more expensive option. A queen is priced at $1,465 and sales drop that to right around $1,100. It comes with a choice of firmness and an optional upgrade to a cooling pillowtop.
The Signature Hybrid outscored the CopperFlex handily in our pressure relief tests with a score of 4.8/5, and it earned a slightly higher score in motion isolation as well. But in our edge support, cooling, and responsiveness tests, the CopperFlex came out well ahead. Couples will probably fare better on CopperFlex, and weโd steer combination sleepers to that model as well.

Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex Mattress FAQs
Is the Brooklyn Bedding CopperFlex good for hot sleepers?
The CopperFlex is infused with copper particles, which can help dissipate heat. But itโs still an all-foam mattress, so it lacks coils that help promote airflow. During our tests, we found the CopperFlex had average cooling abilities. Very hot sleepers may prefer a mattress with more cooling technology.
What type of sleeper is the CopperFlex best for?
We recommend the CopperFlex for back and stomach sleepers who prefer a firm bed. With its excellent edge support and strong motion isolation, itโs a good fit for couples as well. Combination sleepers will appreciate the outstanding responsiveness of the CopperFlexโjust be mindful that itโs likely too firm for side sleeping.
Does the CopperFlex have a sleep trial and warranty?
Yes. Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night sleep trial and a limited lifetime warranty on the CopperFlex Mattress.
Does the CopperFlex have good edge support and motion isolation?
The CopperFlex scored very well on our edge support and motion isolation tests. That makes it a great choice for couples who want more room to spread out and fewer nighttime disruptions, as well as those with mobility issues who find it difficult to get in and out of bed.
