Nest Easy Breather Pillows Firmness and Feel

First things first, let’s see what these pillows feel like. In the sections below, we’ll outline the firmness differences between the Easy Breather and Easy Breather Natural. By the end, you should have a good idea of which one will work best for you!

How Firm Are The Nest Easy Breather Pillows?

The Easy Breather memory foam pillow has a classic medium firmness level. When you rest your head on it, you’ll gently sink into its soft filling.

The Easy Breather Natural feels a bit firmer, thanks to its latex filling. Your head won’t sink as deeply into this pillow. But remember – you can always remove some of the stuffing and make the pillow feel more malleable and soft.

Sleeping on the Nest Easy Breather Pillows

When you’re shopping for a new pillow, you want to make sure it helps you maintain a neutral spine alignment throughout the night. What does this mean, exactly? Follow this simple rule of thumb: Make sure your chin aligns with your sternum.

Because these pillows are adjustable, they should work for all body types and sleeping positions. The Nest Easy Breathers arrive overstuffed. If you’re a back sleeper, you may need to remove about ¼ of the fill. Stomach sleepers typically need flat pillows, so we recommend removing ⅓ of the interior fluff. Side sleepers might not need to remove any filling at all!

What Do The Easy Breather Pillows Feel Like?

Because of its shredded memory foam filling, the classic Easy Breather pillow has a slow-moving feel.

The Easy Breather Natural feels a bit more responsive. Latex, in general, doesn’t create the “quicksand” kind of feeling that memory foam often does. It’s also aids in breathability!

Both options have the same price point, so the choice ultimately boils down to what you want your pillow to feel like.

Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lbs – 230lbs

Average weight sleepers should feel comfy in all three sleeping positions, but they’ll need to adjust the pillow’s firmness level. Back sleepers may need to remove about ¼ of the interior fluff in order to reach a neutral alignment, while stomach sleepers will need to take out a bit more. Average weight side sleepers may find the pillow feels great as-is.

Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230lbs

Heavier side sleepers may not need to remove any of the pillow’s filling at all. When resting on their backs, larger people might need to take out just handful of filling. Larger stomach sleepers will definitely need to remove a good chunk of the interior fluff. Otherwise, their necks may crane out of alignment, which can lead to pain over time.

Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130lbs

Lightweight sleepers will probably need to remove a good amount of the interior filling in order to reach a neutral alignment — especially when stomach sleeping. Finding the ideal pillow loft requires a bit of trial and error, but rest assured, you can definitely customize the Easy Breather pillows to your specific body type and sleeping position.

Nest Easy Breather Construction

What makes this pillow stand out? To really understand its unique features, we’ll need to look closely at its construction.

The Nest Easy Breather memory foam pillow has a breathable cover made from blended adaptive cooling fabric, polyester, and spandex.

The Easy Breather Natural has a slightly different cover. Instead of cooling fabric, it’s made with organic cotton. Both pillows promote airflow, so they should help sleepers stay cool throughout the night.

Beneath the covers, you’ll find interior linings to hold the filling in place. But what’s inside the lining differs with each pillow.
The Easy Breather classic model contains pieces of shredded memory foam. However, unlike many foam pillows on the market, this one doesn’t emit any harsh chemical odors. That’s because this virgin foam is CertiPUR-US-certified.

Nest Bedding Easy Breather Pillow Review

Instead of memory foam, the Easy Breather Natural contains OEKO-TEX® shredded latex foam and smooth polyester fibers. This gives the pillow a more responsive feel, and it’s makes the product especially eco-friendly.

Easy breather latex pillow

A Standard-size Easy Breather pillow weighs 4lbs, and a Nest Natural pillow of the same size weighs 4.5lbs.

When the Easy Breather memory foam pillow arrives at your doorstep, it has a very high loft. That’s because it’s meant to be adjustable, and you can easily remove the filling and change its loft.

The Easy Breather Natural isn’t as lofty as the original pillow, but you can still remove the filling if you want to adjust its height. Remember – latex feels a bit firmer and more supportive than memory foam, so you don’t need as much of it inside the pillow.

Nest Easy Breather Performance

Now that we understand the basics of this pillow, let’s take a look at some of its performance features.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Whether you get the memory foam or latex pillow, you should sleep cool throughout the night. Both pillows have soft and breathable covers, and their interior fillings create plenty of room for airflow. In our opinion, it’s one of the best cooling pillows.

Sometimes, when you unbox a new memory foam pillow, you’ll notice a slight chemical smell. That won’t be a problem with either Easy Breather pillow, however. The standard option contains CertiPUR-US-certified foams, so it doesn’t have a strong odor. The Easy Breather Natural pillow contains natural latex, so you shouldn’t notice a strong scent either.

Care Instructions

Both pillows are machine washable, but it’s important to thoroughly read the care instructions before throwing them in the wash. First, remove the outer pillow. Then, place a safety pin along the pillow opening to prevent the filling from spilling out. After that, wash both the inner and outer layers in cold water on the delicate cycle. Dry on low heat.

Please note – these wash instructions are only applicable to pillows purchased after Jul 12, 2021. Easy Breather pillows purchased before that date are not machine washable.

Both pillows contain materials that meet the highest quality standards. While we don’t expect them to trigger extreme allergic reactions, it’s possible that folks with extreme latex allergies may want to shy away from the Easy Breather Natural.

It’s always wise to read the fine print! Here’s what you can expect if you order from Nest Bedding.

Common Easy Breather Pillow Complaints

Most people love their Easy Breather pillows, but we occasionally come across some negative reviews. Most of the time, the feedback has to do with its firmness level. Many people do not understand how to adjust the pillow to its ideal loft, so they end up sleeping on something that’s too firm or too soft. It’s worthwhile to spend some time figuring out how to get to a neutral alignment. After that, you’ll be all set!

How Do the Easy Breather Pillows Compare To Other Pillows?

With so many pillows on the market, it can be difficult to determine which is best for you. Lucky for you, we’ve tested hundreds of pillows! Keep reading to see how the Easy Breather stack up against two other popular products, the COOP Eden and Purple pillow.

Easy Breather Vs. COOP Eden

The COOP Eden shares many similarities with the Easy Breather memory foam pillow. They’re both adjustable, and they are filled with pieces of shredded memory foam and fibers. This gives the pillows a fluffy feel with a touch of that slow-moving action.

Due to their adjustable loft, these pillows should work well for people of all body types. The Easy Breather even comes in several different sizes – including a special U-shaped side sleeper pillow.

COOP Eden pillow construction

Need some help figuring out your ideal loft? If you order the COOP Eden pillow, you have access to their customer service line. A team of bedding experts are standing by to help you customize your pillow.

While both pillows fall in the same price range, COOP Eden does have a longer trial period and warranty.

Who Should Get The COOP Eden

Easy Breather Vs. Purple Pillow

The Original Purple Pillow is unlike any other product out there. Instead of down or memory foam, this pillow is made out of a thick piece of Purple’s proprietary gel grid. This squishy material feels quite firm when you rest your head on it, and it allows plenty of room for airflow.

Purple Pillow construction

Like the Easy Breather, the Purple Pillow is adjustable. It comes with cloth boosters so you can easily make it taller. However, Purple is not a great pick if you want a traditional fluffy pillow. The Easy Breather has more of a classic slow-moving memory foam feel.

The Original Purple pillow costs a bit more than the Easy Breather, but that’s because it’s truly one-of-a-kind.

Who Should Get The Easy Breather

  • People who prefer a traditional fluffy pillow
  • Those who want to save a bit of money

Who Should Get The Purple Pillow

  • Those looking for an especially firm pillow
  • People who want a unique pillow with squishy feel
