Our DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base Review in a Nutshell
The Classic Adjustable Base is DreamCloudโs no-frills, budget-friendly adjustable bed frame. The adjustable base offers zero-gravity, flat, and anti-snoring positions, standard head and foot elevation adjustment, amongst other features. It is compatible with most standard mattresses and can be used with an existing platform bed frame thanks to its zero-clearance design. The Classic is a great choice for folks who want a sturdy adjustable base for a competitive price, and arenโt concerned with fancier features like mobile app compatibility or massage settings.

DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base Performance: My Overall Rating
The DreamCloud Classic earned some great scores where it really matters, such as a perfect score for the zero-gravity position and for how well it adjusted our testers during testing in our studio. It earned an overall 4.4/5, but the score was slightly affected by the lack of certain preset buttons. Still, for folks seeking a simple, affordable, and versatile adjustable base, the DreamCloud Classic could be a solution.

DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base In-Depth Test Results
Remote Design
The DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Baseโs wireless remote is super simple and straightforward, reflecting the Classicโs limited features compared to more expensive adjustable frames. Our tester gave the Classic baseโs remote a 4.5/5, primarily appreciating its โintuitiveโ design despite its minimal features.
The Classic Adjustable Base is DreamCloudโs more affordable yet less luxurious power base, and our tester factored this into their remote score. Our tester said, โThe remote was pretty typical, just basic and cheap plastic. However, I did like the flashlight a lot. Overall, the buttons are pretty intuitive, but there is no set button for reading or TV.โ
The only pre-set button positions on the DreamCloud Classic remote are zero-gravity, anti-snoring, and returning the bed frame to its standard flat position. There is an up-and-down button for head or foot elevation, letting you adjust the few preset options to your liking. Plus, there are two preset position memory buttons (marked M1 and M2) that allow for customized go-to base adjustment. And as our tester noted, there is a handy flashlight for nighttime use.
Overall, I would say the remote reflects the pricing. If the Classic Adjustable Base were more expensive, the remote would likely have a lower score. But for the price, itโs practical and, according to our tester, โgets the job done.โ
Adjustments
A properly made adjustable base should be simultaneously quiet, calm, and efficient as it adjusts you into your desired resting or sleeping position. The DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base did a great job at all three, earning a perfect 5-star score during our adjustment assessment.

Our tester explained their score and experience, saying, โThis base operated as expected: smoothly, quickly, and with minimal noise. While thereโs some slight whirring when the base moves, itโs not loud or disturbing.โ
Furthermore, our tester reported that the adjustable base takes only 6 seconds to adjust you into the anti-snore position and 13 seconds to โgo from flat to zero gravity.โ The combination of quickness and calmness makes this adjustable base a great and highly functional choice when prioritizing the baseโs adjustment experience.
Upright Position
One of the benefits of an adjustable base is that it lets you read, lounge, or watch TV in bed without having to prop your head up with pillows or old laundry. The DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base allows you to do this manually, but doesnโt offer a preset upright position or what is typically labeled the โTVโ button on a power baseโs remote.
Our tester gave the Classic a 3/5 for the upright position. However, this score is due to the DreamCloud Classic missing the TV button feature rather than failing to deliver a quality upright position. So, the base didnโt fail on this feature, but was more disqualified based on our testing protocols.
Despite this score, our tester said, โAlthough there is no TV preset, it only takes a few seconds to completely elevate the head of the base. In this position, I was able to lounge comfortably without the need for multiple pillows to prop me up.โ
So, despite the low score, you can easily adjust the base to your desired upright position and set it as one of the memory buttons, making your own TV button. However, not having an initial button option right out of the box resulted in such a low grade.
Zero-Gravity Position
Dr. Raj Dasgupta says, โI recommend an adjustable base for a wide variety of people. If you experience any discomfort while lying flat, or if you suffer from back pain, sleep apnea, or have bad acid reflux, an adjustable bed allows you to customize your sleep positioning to find the ultimate comfort.โ
Building on that, the zero-gravity position is one of the best ways to experience these benefits. Beyond the relaxing feeling of weightlessness, it delivers many of the benefits Dr. Dasgupta Raj, our chief medical advisor, cited. The zero-gravity position more evenly distributes your body weight, making it a great choice for seniors, pregnant women, and people with chronic pain.

Our tester tried out the zero-gravity setting on the DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base and gave the experience a 5/5. They recorded that it only took 13 seconds from flat to zero gravity on the adjustable frame with one-touch. Our tester explained their score, saying, โI think the zero-gravity position provided the expected experience: weightless with zero pressure building at the lower back. It really does place you in the optimum position.โ
While this experience can vary by person and may also depend on the quality of your mattress, our testerโs findings suggest that the DreamCloud Classic Power Base is a reliable bed frame for experiencing the benefits of the zero-gravity position.
Ease of Use
There is little to no learning curve with the DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base. Its straightforward features and get-what-you-pay-for design make it actually super easy to use. Our tester gave the adjustable base a 5/5 for ease of use.
You wonโt have to worry about mobile app connectivity issues or scrambling for the instruction manual that comes with this adjustable base. After placing and plugging it in, you just need to set or adjust the base to your desired position via the remote, which our tester said โpairs with the base automatically.โ
Noise
If you wake up and adjust your sleeping position on a power base during the night, you donโt want a loud creaking bed frame to stress you out in the process. Thatโs why we use a sound level meter to measure the loudness of a frame in decibels when making adjustments.

When we tested the noise output of the DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base, we measured 39.1 decibels (when adjusting to the zero-gravity position). This resembles someone whispering, but it is a little higher than the noise levels of some other bed frames weโve measured. Overall, our tester gave the DreamCloud Classic a 4/5 for noise, adding, โThereโs some slight whirring when the base moves, but itโs not incredibly loud or disturbing.โ
Additional Features
The DreamCloud Classic is pretty standard for an adjustable base. You can reliably experience customizable head and foot elevation, anti-snoring, zero-gravity, and two customizable presets of your choosing. Plus, our tester found the flashlight on the remote to be โpretty cool.โ
However, it wonโt offer massage features, under-bed lighting, or app compatibility like the upgraded Premier Adjustable Base offered by DreamCloud. Still, it has a USB port on each side of the frame, which definitely comes in handy, especially if your bedroom runs low on plug options (people getting the split king base will need two plugs to operate it).
Furthermore, an emergency battery is built into the frame in case of power outages. This battery isnโt for charging your phone or using the frame during a blackout, but rather to ensure that if youโre stuck in a fully elevated position, you can still reliably press the flat button on the remote to return the bed to its normal horizontal surface. This should be important for sleepers who may struggle to get in and out of bed, especially when the base is in use, and the power suddenly goes out.
If this DreamCloud adjustable bed frame is lacking features youโd like to have, you can check out some other options in our best adjustable bed frames and bases review.
DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base Materials and Assembly
The DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base is made with solid steel and grey upholstered fabric. If it doesnโt match your roomโs aesthetic, it can easily be used with most standard or decorative bed frames, as it requires zero clearance. However, the base allows for adjustable height from the ground (customizable clearance). It comes with detachable 8-inch legs, but DreamCloud includes 3-inch and 2-inch extenders that you can twist in and lock into place to achieve your desired clearance.

Assembly is super easy and requires no tools (except maybe scissors or a box cutter, but theyโre not essential). Our tester said that the hardest part of assembly is simply โCutting off a bunch of zip ties that secure the legs, remote control, and other removable parts.โ
And the most tedious part is the optional adjustable clearance legs, which they said, โtook a good bit of twisting and turning.โ They noted that they were able to easily unbox and set up their frame on their own. But they did try out the split king, which comes in two lighter twin XL-size models that just need to be pushed together. However, they added that โIf you get a queen (134 pounds) or king (214 pounds), I think you may need a second person to help you move and flip the frame.โ
Overall, the DreamCloud Classic has a durable steel, no-frills build and design, and is generally pretty simple to assemble. If you struggle with back pain or have general mobility issues, please have an extra set of hands to help with setting up and placing your frame.
DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base Policies
Below, I outline the fine print on DreamCloudโs trial, returns, and warranty policies for their Classic Adjustable Base. Itโs important to know exactly what youโre getting into before ordering a long-term sleeping product online. Policies can vary by product type, and you donโt want to press the purchase button before knowing everything.

Trial Period
The DreamCloud Classic has a 60-night home trial. This means you have 60 days to try out the power base, and if you donโt like it, return it for a refund. Many luxury brands that make adjustable bed frames offer shorter trials or none at all, so Iโd say DreamCloudโs Classic Adjustable Base would be considered a pretty generous trial period.
Returns
DreamCloud offers a full refund and free returns, with no shipping fees, on its Classic Adjustable base during your initial 60-night trial. Many companies charge a return fee, making this a better deal than most. You also donโt even need to worry about saving all the packing materials it originally comes in. Iโd say both their trial and return policy suggest greater confidence in their product and may potentially ease some stress for wary shoppers.
Warranty
This base comes with a 2-year warranty. It covers only defects not caused by the user, such as mechanical issues. Furthermore, warranty-related replacements or refunds will only be provided to the original purchaser of the frame and may require proof of purchase.

Whatโs the difference between the DreamCloud Classic and the DreamCloud Premier adjustable bases?
The DreamCloud Premier offers more features than the DreamCloud Classic, which is reflected in its higher price ($1,639 for a queen-size Premier base vs. $1,061 for a queen-size Classic base). However, the Premier includes massage features and additional preset buttons, including a TV position (upright). The Premier also has two additional USB charging ports, under-bed lighting, and can be used via a mobile app. The Premier would be more comparable to the Saatva Lineal Adjustable Base.
Is the DreamCloud Classic mattress the best mattress to use with the DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base?
The DreamCloud Classic mattress (a hybrid mattress) is compatible with the DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base, but generally, most standard mattresses should be compatible with the Classic base. Some mattresses may be more bendable than others, such as memory foam mattresses, but the DreamCloud name isnโt required for a mattress to be used on the base.
However, given how frequently DreamCloud offers promotional bundled discounts, it may be possible to save money in the long run by buying a DreamCloud mattress and a DreamCloud Classic base together.
Should I use a box spring with the DreamCloud Classic Adjustable Base?
No, the base is designed to have a mattress placed directly on it. In fact, a box spring could affect how well the base functions and potentially disrupt your lounging or sleep experience.
