The power base moves quietly and reliably, supporting up to 750 pounds on its surface. The base is controlled with an easy-to-use wireless remote control.

Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base Performance: My Overall Rating

The Ascension Luxe Power Base earned high-quality scores across the board from our testers. The base was super calming and quiet as it adjusted our testers into its various pressure-relieving or lounging positions. Although it is not app-compatible and offers only two customizable preset options, the remote control provided all the desired positions for our testers with ease of adjustment.

The frame is bare-bones, but pretty straightforward. While it doesnโ€™t have under-bed lighting, it does include a flashlight in the remote. Overall, the base received an excellent 4.9/5 score. This score reflects its status as a practical, adjustable bed frame with a sleek, sturdy look that delivers the key benefits of an adjustable bed frame.

Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base Prices and Sizes

Below are the dimensions for each available model size of the Ascension Luxe Power Base. I should note that there is no king-size model, only split king models, meaning the base comes as two pieces that need to be pushed together. However, split king bases offer greater versatility for couples who may prefer different lounging or sleep positions. This is because each side can be adjusted independently of the other.

I also included sale prices before any discounts, but I want to encourage the reader to keep an eye out for promotional sales, as Brooklyn Bedding offers the Ascension Luxe on sale from its regular price quite often.

Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base In-Depth Test Results

Remote Design

Remote Design โ€“ 4.5

Our in-house testers gave the Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxeโ€™s remote control design a 4.5/5.

โ€‹The power baseโ€™s remote control runs on batteries and is completely wireless. Its preset buttons offer lounging, TV, zero-gravity, and anti-snoring positions. Thereโ€™s also a big button in the center of the remote labeled โ€œflatโ€ that returns your mattress to its standard position.

A person holding a remote for the Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base

โ€‹According to our tester, the head and foot adjustments are โ€œsimple,โ€ with clearly labeled up/down arrows. There are also two memory buttons marked M1 and M2. Each allows you to customize a favorite position, which you can resort to by pressing either button.

โ€‹Uniquely, the Ascension Luxeโ€™s remote also features a built-in flashlight, perfect for middle-of-the-night use.

The split king and split Cal king models include two remotes, with each side of the bed controlled by the person using it. This is great for couples with different adjustment preferences, and it can also be a potential sleep solution if youโ€™re struggling to fall asleep and your partner snores. You can just hit the anti-snore button on your partnerโ€™s side of the bed.

โ€‹Generally, the Ascension Luxeโ€™s remote offers clear visual controls, ease of use, and some helpful customization options. However, this is limited to the two memory buttons. So, otherwise, you will have to use the preset buttons and adjust as needed (which resulted in the half-point deduction). Itโ€™s not the highest-tech remote, but itโ€™s wireless and, for most, should suffice.

Adjustments

Adjustments โ€“ 5

Youโ€™ll want an adjustable power base that moves you comfortably and as close to seamlessly as possible, not something that feels like a ride at the county fair. According to our testers, the Ascension Luxe Power Base was seamless and earned a perfect 5/5 score for the category.

Our tester adjusting the position of a Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base

When our tester tried the base in our studio, they described changing positions on it as โ€œvery smooth.โ€ They added, โ€œThere is no jerking or unexpected movements.โ€ They also tried out the Ascension Luxe with a thicker mattress, which can be an impediment with some adjustable bases. Therefore, you can likely expect a reliably sturdy yet calming adjustment experience that is sleep-friendly on this power base, regardless of mattress type.

Upright Position

Upright Position โ€“ 4

The upright position on an adjustable base offers the experience most closely associated with sitting in a recliner. This position is perfect for watching TV or reading. Youโ€™re essentially sitting while your legs are extended. The preset TV position had our tester in an upright position, ready for a movie in bed on the Ascension Luxe, quite easily via the baseโ€™s remote. Our tester gave the power base an overall 4/5 for the experience.

Our product expert explained, โ€œIn general, this is super comfortable,โ€ and didnโ€™t report any issues when being moved upright. They did point out that some people who struggle with back pain or have general issues in their sacroiliac joints may want to adjust the position slightly. This is because the preset option could increase pressure on your lower back, especially if you experience spinal inflammation when sitting on standard chairs.

Zero-Gravity Position

Zero-Gravity Position โ€“ 5

The zero-gravity position is probably best known for its use by NASA when sending astronauts into space, as it can simulate weightlessness. However, when it comes to an adjustable base, this weightless feeling can offer a great sense of relaxation. Iโ€™d consider the zero-gravity position one of the best benefits offered by adjustable bases. In addition to comfort, zero-g has been shown to aid digestion, offer enhanced support for pregnant sleepers, and ease arthritis or general joint and back pain.

After settling in and pushing the zero-gravity button on the Ascension Luxeโ€™s remote, our testers were super impressed and pleased, giving the position and the bedโ€™s adjustment to it a 5/5.

Our tester said, โ€œThe zero-gravity position is so lovely! I used to own an adjustable bed, and when I was testing this one, I remembered why.โ€ They added that when moving into the zero-gravity position, โ€œThe bed moved very smoothly. It made some noise, but it didnโ€™t jerk at all, and the bed itself didnโ€™t move away from the wall.โ€

The 5-star rating score for the Ascension Luxeโ€™s zero-gravity position has me absolutely suggesting this power base.

Noise

Noise โ€“ 5

An adjustable frame with a loud motor that creaks when it moves you into whatโ€™s meant to be a calming, weightless sleeping position kind of defeats its purpose. That is why we assess the loudness of each adjustable base we review using a sound level meter that measures sound in decibels. For reference, a decibel rating of around 33 is akin to a soft rainfall or quiet whisper.

Decibal reading of the Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base

When we tested the Ascension Luxe power base, our testers found excellent results and gave it a 5/5. When using the sound level meter, our tester measured 33 decibels of noise when moving into the TV position or the upright position on the Ascension Luxe. Then, when pressing the zero-gravity button, the meter read 34 decibels of sound when the base was adjusting our tester into it. These are excellent results and support the perfect score.

Our tester reflected on their experience, saying, โ€œThis bed is incredibly quiet. There is some noise, but nothing disruptive. There is no clanking or metallic sound, just a subtle whir of a motor.โ€

They were so impressed, they added a joke even, that โ€œYou could make a noise machine sound called โ€˜Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Power Base Movingโ€™ and I could fall asleep to it.โ€

Additional Features

The Ascension Luxe meets the most important expectations I have for an adjustable power base. Whether offering easy, quiet adjustment or helping to battle sleep apnea, the Ascension Luxe is an all-around great, fairly affordable adjustable bed frame.

But, as our tester said, โ€œIt does work fantastically and wonโ€™t give you any trouble, but Iโ€™m a little surprised that for the price, it doesnโ€™t have so many extra features.โ€ Building on that, the Ascension Luxeโ€™s amenities are minimal but very practical.

Our tester rests in the zero-gravito position with a Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base

The Ascension Luxe has a USB charging port on each side of the base. Furthermore, the Ascension Luxeโ€™s most notable additional feature, even when compared to more expensive adjustable frames, is what Brooklyn Bedding calls its โ€œself-sufficient power supply.โ€ The Ascension Luxe has a built-in battery box for use during a power outage.

This additional feature isnโ€™t one I see often with adjustable bases. I should note, though, that the exact battery lifespan is hard to determine. According to Brooklyn Bedding, it should be used only in emergencies.

For context, the battery allows you to at least return the bed to a fully flat position without power. And, this is its main purpose. This could be very helpful to seniors or people with mobility issues during a moment of crisis, but do not expect to use it for charging devices or as you would normally without the bed being plugged in.

The Ascension Luxe delivers on its standard promises, and you get what you pay for. However, if youโ€™re seeking more features in your next bed frame, such as under-bed lighting or mobile app compatibility, consider checking out our best adjustable bases and bed frames review.

Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base Materials and Assembly

When it comes to the quality of the construction, our tester offered a simple yet promising assessment, โ€œI donโ€™t really have any complaints regarding construction or functionality! The base moves really well, functions as it should, and doesnโ€™t make much noise.โ€

The Ascension Luxe Base is an all-steel frame with sleek, black upholstered fabric around the parts of the platform where you place a mattress. The baseโ€™s steel materials offer durable support for up to 750 pounds, according to Brooklyn Bedding. The frame has a small foot-side rail to hold the mattress in place, while the bed frame itself allows for wall-hugging (where it can move while placed right near the wall).

Looking behind the Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base

According to Brooklyn Bedding, the Ascension Luxe Power Base requires no tools and should take no more than 5 minutes to assemble. Furthermore, Brooklyn Bedding says the platform arrives essentially ready if you want zero clearance, but adjustable legs can be attached to achieve your desired height off the ground. Notably, the maximum clearance offered by the legs is 10 inches.

Brooklyn Bedding Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base Policies

Before making the final decision to purchase an adjustable base, itโ€™s always important that you understand the fine print. Sleep product company policies regarding trials, returns, or warranty can vary by product, and you donโ€™t want to be surprised if issues arise after buying a new power base. Below, Iโ€™ll go through Brooklyn Beddingโ€™s purchase policies for their Ascension Luxe Adjustable Base.

Trial Period

The Ascension Luxe does not include a trial period. Although Brooklyn Beddingโ€™s sleep accessories offer a 30-night trial and its best mattresses offer a 120-night trial, the company states that โ€œall sales on adjustable bases are final and non-refundable.โ€

Returns

Unless there is a defect in the Ascension Luxe Power Base that is not the purchaserโ€™s fault, it is not eligible for free returns and is considered a final-sale product.

Warranty

The Ascension Luxe includes a 10-year warranty. The warranty covers the replacement of faulty parts or mechanical or construction issues with the bed frame caused solely by Brooklyn Beddingโ€™s faulty manufacturing. The warranty does not cover issues arising from customer use.
