As a company, DreamCloud consistently strives to stay ahead of the curve in the luxury mattress game, refining its designs with subtle updates over the years. We’ve tested several versions of the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, and with each iteration, we’ve noticed meaningful improvements in comfort, support, and overall quality.

After taking the newest version of the Premier for a spin, our testers found that this mattress lives up to its name. We awarded the Premier a 4/5 or higher in pressure relief, edge support, motion isolation, and responsiveness, contributing to its overall score of 4.6/5.

Our testers enjoyed sinking into the DreamCloud Premier’s cloud-like Euro top cover and layers of contouring memory foam. They also loved how supported they felt across the entire surface of the mattress, even as they approached the very edge of the bed. However, the Premier was not firm enough for dedicated stomach sleepers, and its cooling performance didn’t wow us.

Our mattress experts and certified sleep science coaches have undergone extensive training to ensure they provide accurate recommendations using our rigorous review methodology. Like DreamCloud, we constantly refine and improve our testing methodology to provide better recommendations. For this reason, we work closely with a network of medical professionals to improve our assessments. Our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM, helped us ensure accuracy and non-bias throughout our testing process.

Over the past 7 years, our testers have tried 600 mattresses and 150 sleep products, so we know a thing or two about what goes into making the best mattresses. We helped 5,919 people buy a new mattress in 2024, and more than 35,000 people over the years we’ve been in operation.

Read on to learn more about the DreamCloud Premier, the tests we performed on it, and who we recommend it for.

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating

DreamCloud recently updated its Premier model, which was already a step up in comfort from its original DreamCloud mattress. The newly revamped Premier still provides sleepers with a high-quality sleep experience at an affordable price. However, the new version of this model is softer than its predecessor. Our mattress testers were impressed with its pressure relief, edge support, motion isolation, and response, awarding it a 4/5 or higher in each of those categories and an overall score of 4.6 out of 5.

Although it earned an impressive overall score, its performance was only average for cooling, and our testers didn’t love it when resting on their stomachs.

Based on their expert feedback, the DreamCloud Premier is an excellent option for combination sleepers who frequently change positions to get comfortable and couples who are sensitive to motion. Unfortunately, it’s not the best mattress for folks who get extra hot at night or back and stomach sleepers wanting a firmer sleep surface.

Check out our testing methodology for more detailed information on how our testers arrive at the scores for each category.

I Recommend the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid For…

  • Average and lightweight side sleepers looking to relieve pressure around their joints.
  • Shoppers seeking a premium mattress at an affordable price.
  • Couples who are easily disturbed by their partner’s movements.

I Don’t Recommend the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid For…

  • Stomach sleepers wanting a firmer feeling mattress.
  • Those who struggle with overheating.

How Firm is the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress?

6/10 mattress firmness on a scale

The DreamCloud Premier is slightly soft, especially for a hybrid model. Softer mattresses are a good choice for most side sleepers and some back sleepers, especially those dealing with aches and pains. However, stomach sleepers and folks who weigh 230 pounds or more may sink too far into a soft mattress to feel adequately supported.

After spending some time with the DreamCloud Premier in our studio, mattress tester Kayla Godfrey settled on a 6 out of 10 on our firmness scale. That’s a bit plusher than the industry standard of 6.5 (which is medium-firm). She appreciated the balanced feel of the soft cover coupled with the innerspring coils beneath her back. While the Premier leans on the softer side, she still felt well-supported thanks to its pocketed coils and sturdy foam base layer. She also said that it felt a bit firmer—approaching a 6.5 or a 7 out of 10—when she rested on her back and stomach.

How Does the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?

A bed’s firmness will feel significantly different to a 120-pound sleeper and one who is 230 pounds. Your preferred sleeping position also impacts how supportive and firm a bed feels. Whenever we test a mattress, we invite experts of different shapes, sizes, and sleep preferences to test it on their sides, backs, and stomachs. These tests let us know how a mattress might feel to various sleepers.

Dr. Hannah Habeeb, DPT, our Chief Medical Product Tester, tried out the DreamCloud Premier mattress in our Charlotte, NC, studio and gave us her expert opinion. After trying it on her back and side, she agreed that the Premier could be an excellent option for side sleepers.

“I feel like this is a great side sleeping mattress,” said Dr. Habeeb. “It’s not too firm, and you sink into it enough for comfort, but you’re still very supported. I don’t think these sleepers will experience much pressure build-up.”

She enjoyed lying on the DreamCloud Premier on her back but noted that its softness could cause problems for people with back pain who need a more supportive sleep surface. However, Dr. Habeeb said this could be a good fit for most back sleepers without aches and pain, who should get enough pressure relief from this mattress.

Lightweight Tester

Riley Otis, our lightweight tester, preferred the DreamCloud Premier on her side. “I feel extremely comfortable on my side. I feel like this is a great mattress for side sleepers. I could stay in this position all night long,” she said.

Average-weight Tester

Sosha Lewis, one of our average-weight testers, likewise enjoyed the DreamCloud Premier the most when lying on her side, deeming it “fantastic” for this position. She didn’t feel as cozy on her back, though she praised the foam for “filling in [her] lumbar area.”

Kayla Godfrey, who also tested the bed, echoed the side-sleeping recommendation. “This bed is amazing for side sleeping and I am in love with it.,” she said. “My hips are perfectly aligned with my shoulders, and I feel like the plush topper is great for my body weight. The hybrid interior gives me the support I need.”

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid In-Depth Test Results

Pressure Relief

Overall Pressure Relief – 4.4

Your mattress absorbs your body weight for hours every night. Without the proper pressure relief, you could experience aches and pains down the line.

“Adequate pressure relief is important in a mattress,” explained Dr. Dasgupta. “If your mattress doesn’t relieve pressure as you sleep, it can lead to disrupted rest and increased pain or discomfort.”

To measure pressure relief, we use a specialized mat, which we roll onto the surface of the bed and lie on top of in the back and side sleeping positions. The pressure map generates a color-coded thermal pressure map that measures the average pressure across the mat and tells us where it builds up the most. Blue and green indicate low pressure, while yellow and red mean the opposite.

After averaging the pressure relief scores from our tester in both positions, the DreamCloud Premier received a 4.4/5 for pressure relief. These results are well above the average pressure relief score of 3.8.

Side-Sleeping Pressure Relief – 4.75

Our three testers all preferred the pressure relief they received when on their sides. “I feel zero pressure on my side and the bed is cradling me in all the right positions,” said Kayla. Riley agreed: “Typically, I have pressure in my shoulders, but with this mattress I have relief there. There is lots of cushioning in this mattress.”

Sosha also enjoyed the DreamCloud Premier’s ample cushioning and the pressure relief she felt around her shoulders and hips on her side.

Kayla lying on her back near the edge of the DreamCloud Premier mattress
Back-Sleeping Pressure Relief – 4

On her back, however, Sosha was a little less enthused.

“I’m not as crazy about back sleeping on this mattress because my bottom and hips sink more than the rest of my body,” she said. But she added: “In either position, it feels great around my shoulder and upper back. The foam is top-notch.”

Riley felt much the same way. “I’m a combination sleeper, and I spend part of the night on my back. I feel comfortable in this position, but my butt is sinking in a bit while my shoulders feel a little more lifted. I feel a little bit of strain on my lower back. The pillow top is doing a good job filling in my lumbar area, but I think the strain is coming from the elevation of my legs.”

Both agreed that the pressure relief was still quite good in this position—just not perfect.

Edge Support

Edge Support – 4.4

A sturdy edge enables sleepers to spread out to the sides of the mattress without feeling unstable. This feature is especially vital for sleepers with mobility concerns who need a sturdy surface to push down on when they stand up in the morning. We also look to edge support as an indicator of quality and durability.

“A strong support core and solid edge support are good indicators of a durable, high-quality mattress,” said Dr. Dasgupta. “These mattresses should give you long-lasting, consistent support and maintain their structural integrity over time.”

Like most mattresses with individually wrapped coils, the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is a winner in this category, earning an edge support score of 4.4/5.

Kayla and other testers sat and laid on the edges and corners of the DreamCloud Premier to understand how it might perform for different sleepers. They also placed weights right along the perimeter of the bed to gauge just how much the edges would sink.

Kayla’s conclusion? “This bed has great edge support. The mattress wall on the side barely bulges out and the plush top is where most of my sinkage is happening. It does a great job of holding me in place when I’m lying down, and I don’t feel like I am going to slide off. I definitely don’t bottom out when sitting down. This bed would be great for a senior sleeper looking for that extra edge support with a plush top.”

During the weight-plate test, the DreamCloud Premier’s edges did sink a bit—about 5 inches when the heaviest set of weights was applied—but its performance was still better than average.

Cooling

Cooling – 3.5

If you are prone to overheating, you might fare better on one of our best cooling mattress picks instead of the DreamCloud Premier. While the Premier has innerspring coils to promote airflow, our testers thought its cooling abilities were average, giving it a 3.5/5 in this category.

Using a thermal gun, tester Kayla Godfrey measured the surface temperature of the mattress before lying on it for 7 minutes and measuring it again. She found that the temperature increased 9.6 degrees from 74.6 to 84.2. While she didn’t find its cooling features particularly impressive, she also didn’t feel uncomfortably warm. “I did feel the mattress warm up slightly, but nothing of major concern. I felt like the mattress is great overall and wouldn’t have me waking up from being too hot.”

Motion Isolation

Motion Isolation – 4

Motion transfer refers to how much movement you will likely detect from one side of the bed to the other. If you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns throughout the night, you need a mattress that effectively isolates motion. Fortunately, the DreamCloud Premier does a decent job of trapping motion on one side of the bed. Our testers awarded it a rating of 4/5 in this category.

We assess motion isolation using two different tests: the ripple test and the partnered motion test. With the ripple test, we place a glass of water on one side, get in and out of bed, and switch positions. During this test, Kayla did not detect any movement in the glass when getting in and out of bed. However, she noticed the glass itself wobbled slightly because of the tufts in the cover layer.

For the couple’s motion test, Kayla wore a blindfold, and another tester got in and out of bed, then mimicked a partner changing positions. Kayla noticed minor movements from her testing partner’s side of the mattress, but they weren’t enough to disturb her.

“The motion isolation was great for this mattress,” she reported. “If you are a light sleeper with a partner, this mattress will do a great job of not waking you with excess movement.”

Response

Response – 5

Response refers to how fast a mattress returns to its original shape after removing weight from its surface. Hybrid and innerspring mattresses are typically bouncier and more responsive than all-foam models. Response is crucial for combination sleepers because it makes it easy for them to move around when changing positions.

We review responsiveness by placing a 44-pound kettlebell on the mattress and letting it rest for seven seconds. When the time is up, we pull the kettlebell off and measure how long it takes for the mattress to return to its original shape. The DreamCloud Premier only took 0.59 seconds to snap back to full tension, which is cheetah-level fast.

We also asked Kayla and her colleague to roll around on the bed and change sleeping positions to see if they could do so quickly. Afterwards, she said, “I feel like it’s not as bouncy as some firmer hybrid mattress, but it did assist me with its responsiveness. I didn’t feel stuck in the mattress, or that I sank in too much, causing me to pull my way out.”

Based on her feedback and our kettlebell test results, we think the DreamCloud Premier is a super-responsive mattress that most sleepers should find easy to move on. We gave it an overall response score of 5/5.

Sinkage: Deep

Measuring sinkage on the DreamCloud Premier mattress with a kettlebell

The kettlebell also helps us measure how far the bed sinks under a sleeper’s body weight. Our testers assess this by measuring how deeply the mattress sinks when the kettlebell is on it. The DreamCloud Premier sank 4.25 inches, which is slightly more than average. Given how cushioned our testers felt on this bed, this result makes sense.

Bounce: High

Our testers assessed the DreamCloud Premier’s ability to spring up after weight is dropped on it by plopping a weighted medicine ball from six feet and recording how high it bounced on our measuring stick. The ball went up 24 inches after landing on the Premier, placing it in the high bounce category. This means it’s responsive enough to make movement easy (and perhaps fun to jump on, though we can’t officially recommend this).

Noise

Noise – 5

If you’re easily disturbed by noise, a squeaky mattress could make it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. In our experience, mattresses with innerspring coils are typically more prone to creaking and squeaking than their cushiony all-foam counterparts. Fortunately, the springs in the DreamCloud Premier didn’t make a peep during our tests, earning it a perfect 5/5 in this category.

Sex

Sex – 4.8

We use a mattress’s response, edge support, and noise scores to help us determine if it is viable for sex. The best mattresses for sex should be responsive and supportive enough to help couples maneuver and change positions while also being quiet to avoid disturbing anyone you share a wall with.

Our testers awarded the DreamCloud Premier a 5/5 for response, 4.4/5 for edge support, and a 5/5 for noise, which gives it an average sex score of 4.8/5. That’s very close to perfect, so we’d absolutely recommend this bed for sexually active couples.

Adjustable Base Compatibility

Our certified sleep science coaches evaluated DreamCloud’s compatibility with an adjustable bed frame in the studio. Thanks to the bed’s softer feel and flexible memory foam layers, it proves to be a strong choice for folks using adjustable bases.

“This mattress works amazingly well with the base, and is one of the best I’ve seen in this regard,” said Kayla. “There was very minimal gapping at the bottom of the base and the cover layer didn’t bunch up too much.”

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Customer Experience Scores

When you buy a mattress online, you don’t get a chance to try it out before moving it into your bedroom. Fortunately, many mattress companies offer sleep trials and lengthy warranty periods to give shoppers time to decide if the bed is right for them. Our mattress testers thoroughly review each company’s policies so you can know what kind of customer experience to expect.

Here’s everything you need to know about the DreamCloud customer experience, including its trial period, warranty, and accessibility.

Trial Period

Trial Period – 5

Ordering a bed-in-a-box online can be a gamble because you don’t get to try it before moving it into your bedroom. Thankfully, most reputable mattress brands offer a sleep trial that lasts between 30 days to a full year to give customers peace of mind. This trial allows shoppers to try out their mattresses before committing to it. Trial period information usually also spells out any costs and arrangements required for returning your mattress if you decide to do so.

Every DreamCloud mattress comes with a 365-night trial period, meaning you can sleep on it for a full year before deciding whether to keep it or ship it back for a full refund. A 365-night sleep trial is exceptional because most companies typically offer 100 nights or less. Because of its generous sleep trial, we gave the DreamCloud Premier a perfect 5/5 in the trial period category.

Warranty

Warranty – 5

DreamCloud offers a limited lifetime warranty that covers material and workmanship defects. For the first 10 years of ownership, DreamCloud will replace a defective mattress with a brand-new replacement of equal or greater value at no charge to the customer. After the first 10 years, DreamCloud will completely repair or replace your mattress for a transportation fee of $50 each way. DreamCloud will waive these charges if it confirms a defect.

Overall, this impressive warranty earns DreamCloud a perfect 5/5 in this category.

Unboxing and Moving

Unboxing and Moving – 5
The DreamCloud Premier mattress rolled up in plastic packaging

When the DreamCloud Premier arrived at our sleep studio, the box was in good condition and simple to open. Thanks to the Premier’s relatively low weight and built-in handles, Kayla was able to get it set up quickly all by herself. Overall, we rated the unboxing and setup experience a solid 5/5.

Readiness After Unboxing

Readiness After Unboxing – 5
The DreamCloud Premier mattress

Once Kayla cut away the plastic, the DreamCloud Premier quickly sprang to its proper size. It puffed up within minutes and reached its full shape after a few hours. She gave it a 5/5 for the speedy setup.

Off-gassing

Off-gassing – 5

After unwrapping it, Kayla noticed a subtle new-mattress scent, but none of the strong chemical odor you sometimes get when a mattress off-gasses. Since the smell was barely noticeable, she gave it a perfect 5/5 off-gassing score.

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Construction

Before testing the DreamCloud Premier, we cut it open and assessed its construction. Our testers measured the Premier’s height and removed a section from its side to evaluate the inner layers.

Mattress Height & Weight

The queen-size DreamCloud Premier Hybrid is 13 inches tall and weighs 86 pounds.

Materials

The DreamCloud Premier has 6 layers, including a cooling Euro top cover, contouring memory foam, and supportive individually wrapped coils.

Layers

The foams and springs inside the DreamCloud Premier mattress

From top to bottom, the DreamCloud Premier is constructed with luxury in mind. Its plush cover layer consists of a cooling Euro top cover with a stitched-in foam layer for added cushioning. The first layer underneath the cover contains therapeutic memory foam that contours your body and relieves tension around pressure points like the shoulders, hips, and back. Next, you’ll find a transition layer of firmer, responsive memory foam that adds support to help maintain proper spinal alignment.

The next three layers consist of supportive steel innerspring coils, and a dense foam support layer provides a sturdy base and added durability. The protective bottom cover with built-in fire retardant secures the mattress core to prevent shifting and maintain long-lasting stability.

How To Try and Buy The DreamCloud Premier Hybrid Mattress

The DreamCloud Premier is available online at www.dreamcloudsleep.com. DreamCloud accepts all major credit cards and offers financing options through Affirm and Splitit. After purchasing, DreamCloud will ship your mattress within 1 to 2 business days.

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid vs. Saatva Classic

Like the DreamCloud Premier, the Saatva Classic is a hybrid mattress with innerspring coils and memory foam. However, our mattress testers placed the Saatva at a 7.5 out of 10 on our firmness scale, meaning it’s much firmer than the Premier.

This jump in firmness is likely due to the Saatva’s dual coil layers. Thanks to its two layers of innerspring coils, the Saatva Classic is bouncier and more supportive than the DreamCloud Premier. Combination sleepers should have no trouble switching between different sleeping positions on this mattress. Meanwhile, sleepers with bigger bodies should get ample support on their backs and stomachs.

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid vs. Nectar Classic

The Nectar Classic is a memory foam mattress without any innerspring coils in its construction. Despite being a pure memory foam mattress, the Nectar Classic is firmer than the DreamCloud Premier, at 7 out of 10 on our firmness scale.

The Nectar outperformed the DreamCloud Premier in cooling and motion isolation, making it a better choice for hot sleepers and couples easily disturbed by movement. However, we don’t recommend it over the DreamCloud for side sleepers who need more cushioning around their hips and shoulders.

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid vs. WinkBed Plus

The DreamCloud Premier is a good option for most light and average-weight sleepers who prefer a softer sleep surface. However, it doesn’t provide enough support for folks who sleep on their stomachs. Stomach sleepers need something that props their hips up so their spines can stay in healthy alignment as they sleep.

The WinkBed Plus is a whopping 8 out of 10 on our firmness scale, providing more than enough support for these sleepers. It also earned a perfect 5/5 in the cooling category and a 4/5 or higher across every other category. If you tend to sleep hot or need a more supportive mattress, the WinkBed is the better option by far.
