Silk & Snow Mattress Review 2026

The Silk & Snow Mattress is a very affordable memory foam model from America’s neighbors up north. The Canadian-made mattress comes in three firmness levels. The base model is Firm, with Medium-Firm and Plus options available for extra costs.

We ran the Silk & Snow through a battery of performance tests that help us determine who this mattress is best for and it’s overall value. As a team, Mattress Clarity reviewers have tested over 500 mattresses and 150 sleep products. In 2025 alone, we helped more than 43,000 people find a new mattress to meet their needs.

The Silk & Snow Mattress scored well in our pressure relief and cooling tests, and the brand is generous with its 365-night sleep trial and 15-year warranty. It came up a little short in our edge support and motion isolation tests, but overall, we were impressed — particularly given the wallet-friendly price tag.

Our Silk & Snow Mattress Review in a Nutshell

The Silk & Snow Mattress is a memory foam model with a firm feel. It’s the Canadian brand’s base model, and it’s priced accordingly — a queen-size is just $740, before any discounts. That gets you a nice combination of pressure relief and cooling comfort that works very well for back sleepers, side sleepers, and sleepers who run a little warm. On the downside, this all-foam mattress came up short in our edge support and motion isolation tests, so it’s not the best fit for many couples.

Pros of the Silk & Snow
Even the largest size is well under $1,000.
It has gel-infused foam to combat heat retention.
The memory foam layer gently contours to ease pressure point pain.
Cons of the Silk & Snow
Its edge support isn’t great.
It doesn’t isolate motion especially well.
Medium-firm and plush firmness options cost extra.
Motion Isolation
A mattress with good motion isolation means that two people should be able to sleep on it without waking each other up with their movement.
Edge Support
How well the perimeter or sides of the mattress bear weight.
Cooling
The mattress materials’ ability to dissipate body heat, promote airflow, and provide cooling for hot sleepers.
Pressure Relief
The mattress’s ability to redistribute pressure buildup in key areas of the body, specifically the hips, shoulders, knees, and lower back.

The Canadian-made Silk & Snow Mattress is a very budget-friendly memory foam mattress with a firm feel. It has a simple two-layer construction, but the antimicrobial cover is removable for easy care. We found the bed stayed surprisingly temperature neutral given its construction, and it scored well in our pressure relief tests. We weren’t especially impressed with its edge support or motion isolation, but it has a steady responsiveness that might appeal to many combination sleepers.

Watch Us Test the Silk & Snow Mattress

I Recommend the Silk & Snow For…

  • Budget shoppers. A queen model has a $740 price point before the brand’s frequent sales, making this a budget-friendly option. Just remember that medium-firm and plush feels add to the bottom line.
  • Light and average-weight back sleepers who prefer a firmer feel. The standard Silk & Snow is on the firmer side (7/10 on our firmness scale). That translated really nicely for back sleeping, with comfortable alignment and just a touch of contouring.
  • Combination sleepers who like a bit of sinkage. If you switch positions at night but appreciate a steady sleep surface over a springy one, this is a great fit.

I Don’t Recommend the Silk & Snow For…

  • People with mobility issues. The Silk & Snow didn’t perform well in our edge-support tests. Folks who find it challenging to get in and out of bed should consider a bed with a little more stability on the sides.
  • Couples. With just-okay scores in edge support and motion isolation, we think there are better options for couples.
  • Heavyweight sleepers. At just nine inches tall and lacking the support of coils, we don’t recommend the Silk & Snow for heavier sleepers. The bed doesn’t deliver the level of support they need to maintain a straight spine.

How Firm is the Silk & Snow Mattress?

7/10 mattress firmness on a scale

Mattress firmness is a useful indicator of how soft or hard a particular mattress might feel, but it’s more of a baseline suggestion than anything else. Individual details, including body weight and sleep style, influence our perception of how a bed feels. In other words, firmness is subjective.

Still, a firmness rating gives you a ballpark idea. We use a firmness guide based on a scale of 1 to 10. The higher the number, the firmer the bed feels. The industry standard is 6.5/10, which is a true medium-firm. The Silk & Snow Mattress ran a touch firmer than that. We rated it 7/10.

Our in-house tester found that it worked out quite well for side sleeping. “It leans a little firmer than a classic medium-firm feel, but if you like a touch of firmness, it works really nicely in this position,” they said, noting just enough contouring around the hips and shoulders without the sensation of being swallowed by the foam.

It was equally comfortable for our tester in the supine position. “My hips stay nicely elevated and aligned with my shoulders, while the foam still contours well around my lower back and fills in that space comfortably.” Still, it’s possible that heavier individuals may compress the layers more deeply, especially around the hips, which could throw off the alignment a bit over time.

Flipping to their stomach, our tester found the Silk & Snow provided the necessary support for spinal alignment. “My hips felt well supported, and I didn’t notice any strain or pressure through my lower back,” they said. “The surface is firm enough to keep my body feeling fairly level from shoulders to hips.”

Again, heavier sleepers may notice more sinkage in the hips, so we’d steer this group to something with more support. According to medical expert Dr. Raj Dasgupta, the best mattress for heavier sleepers offers strong support throughout and uses thicker, more durable materials.

We recommend considering one of the best mattresses for heavy people instead.

How Does the Silk & Snow Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?

Perceptions of firmness are directly influenced by body weight and sleep style. Here’s what different sleepers can expect on the Silk & Snow.

Sleeper WeightSide SleepersBack SleepersStomach Sleepers
Light (under 130 lbs)GoodExcellentGood
Average (130-230 lbs)GoodExcellentGood
Heavy (over 230 lbs)UnpleasantUnpleasantUnpleasant

Average-weight Tester – 5’6”, 135 lbs

“Even though the material has a firmer character, my pressure points never felt pressed into a hard surface. I also appreciated that the support through my waist and hips kept everything nicely aligned, so my spine stayed in a comfortable, neutral position.” – In-house tester

Lightweight Tester – 5’5”, 125 lbs

“What I like most is that the support feels balanced across my body. Nothing is dipping too far or throwing off my posture, so my spine stays in a nice, even alignment.” – In-house tester

Silk & Snow In-Depth Test Results

Pressure Relief

Pressure Relief – 4.1

Pressure relief is a hallmark of memory foam. The material is known for contouring closely around the body and evenly distributing body weight, which takes pressure off sensitive joints. The Silk & Snow earned an overall score of 4.1 out of 5 in this category, which is above average, but were a little disappointed it wasn’t higher given its all-foam construction.

To test pressure relief, we use a specialized mat that generates a color-coded map representing areas of high and low pressure. It also calculates an average pressure score, which gives us an idea of the overall strain on the body.

Despite the firmer feel, our lightweight tester had a low PSI of 9.33 on their side and experienced enough sink at the hip and shoulder to feel comfortable in this position. “Those areas have enough give to relieve pressure without feeling overly soft,” they said, giving the Silk  Snow 4.5/5 in this position.

Rolling to the back position, our tester’s PSI dropped to 8.21, which is well below average. “The mattress almost feels like it’s propping up my lumbar area, similar to having a small pillow underneath it, while also slightly elevating my knees,” they said. That earned the Silk & Snow a 4/5 for pressure relief in this position.

Our average-weight tester had a PSI of 10.11 on her side, which is also better than the average score. The pressure map showed some build-up in the shoulder, but that wasn’t our tester’s lived experience. “I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of cushioning at my hips and shoulders,” they said. “It’s not an ultra-plush, sink-in feel, but there’s enough give to ease pressure and keep those joints from feeling jammed up.”

Back sleeping was also comfortable with another well-below-average PSI of 9.18. “What stands out most is the contouring through my lower back. That area feels nicely supported and filled in, which helps create a comfortable, balanced feel.”

Edge Support

Edge Support – 3.4

Edge support is fairly self-explanatory. It describes how supportive the bed feels on the sides. For people with mobility issues or couples looking for more room to spread out, it’s an important feature. What’s more, Dr. Dasgupta notes that strong edges can also be an indication of overall mattress quality.

All-foam mattresses aren’t generally known for their edge support, and that was the case with the Silk & Snow. It earned one of its lowest scores at 3.4/5.

Our in-house tester performed several tests, beginning with a seated test. “When sitting on the edge, the layers compress quite a bit under my weight. I sink down pretty deeply before the base foam starts to push back,” they noted. While the Silk & Snow resisted any sense of bottoming out, there was a distinct lack of lifted support: “I don’t feel like I’m sliding off the mattress, but the amount of sink is definitely noticeable.”

In test two, our tester lay close to the edge of the bed and experienced a definite tilting sensation that necessitated scooting closer to the center. That level of instability was more pronounced when our tester rested on their side. “It’s not the weakest edge support I’ve tested, but there’s enough sink around the sides that I never felt completely steady near the perimeter,” they noted. Both tests earned 3/5.

The third and final test involved three stacks of weighted plates representing sleepers from different weight classes. From lightest to heaviest, our tester measured 3.25, 4.5, and 6 inches of collapse.

Cooling

Edge Support – 4

In the hierarchy of cooling mattresses, typically hybrids are at the top, and all-foam models are somewhere near the bottom. Foam is a dense material that tends to trap heat and limit airflow. To thwart this tendency, many brands use open-cell foam and cooling infusions. That’s the case with the Silk & Snow, which fared quite well in our cooling tests and earned an overall score of 4/5.

Our in-house tester used a thermal gun to take the bed’s surface temperature before and after resting on it for about seven minutes. The Silk & Snow Mattress increased from 70.5 degrees to 76.7 degrees. That 6.2-degree change indicates good cooling.

Our tester’s subjective experience with this mattress’s cooling capabilities was also positive. While they didn’t notice any cool-to-the-touch sensation, they reported being satisfied with the thermal regulation. “ I felt temperature-neutral the entire time — not warm but not chilled either.” While the bed is unlikely to contribute to overheating, hot sleepers may still benefit from a mattress with more obvious cooling abilities.

Motion Isolation

Motion Isolation – 3.8

Motion isolation describes how well a bed’s materials keep movement on one side from being felt on the other. It’s a very important feature for sleepers who share a bed. While memory foam usually dampens motion transfer very well, the Silk & Snow was a little underwhelming in this regard, earning an overall score of 3.8/5.

Our in-house tester used a glass of water to assess motion isolation. They put the glass on one side, then got in and out of bed, changing positions on the other. The movement of water in the glass makes it easy to see how that activity affects the whole surface of the bed.

“The water swayed from side to side as I got into bed and as I switched positions,” noted our tester. “I didn’t think the glass was ever going to tip over, but there was definite movement happening inside.”

Next, we replaced the water glass with another tester. “I could definitely tell that there was someone in bed next to me, but their movement felt pretty isolated to their side of the bed,” reported tester one. “It felt more like the bed slightly adjusting whenever my partner switched positions, but it didn’t feel like it was reaching my side heavily or moving my body.” Still, there’s a chance that very light sleepers find the motion transfer is too disruptive for a peaceful night.

Response

Response – 4

The flip side of how well a mattress dampens motion is how well it supports ease of movement. A responsive bed has materials that snap back quickly when you move, which makes it easier to change positions. For combination sleepers, a quick response time is important. Memory foam is known for its slow-moving feel, but the Silk & Snow’s firmer feel did a lot of heavy lifting here. The bed earned a good score of 4/5 in this category.

The foam has a firmer, more responsive feel, which makes changing positions fairly easy overall,” said our in-house tester. “I don’t feel stuck in the mattress or overly hugged by the layers, though there is still a slight bit of resistance from the memory foam when I move.” The all-foam design means there’s no natural bounce or pushback to help you transition between positions, so the bed feels more controlled and steady than springy. If that’s your preference, consider a hybrid or innerspring.

Sinkage: Moderate

Our in-house tester used a 44-pound kettlebell to measure sinkage on the Silk & Snow. After placing it in the center of the bed, they used a ruler to see how far it sank. It gives us a sense of how much compression a sleeper can expect when they lie down. Softer, more contouring foams tend to have more sinkage, while firmer surfaces tend to be more lifted.

At 3.4 inches, the Silk & Snow had moderate sinkage, earning 3/5 in this category. It’s reflective of the memory foam layers and firmer feel.

Noise

Noise – 5

All-foam beds usually perform well here, and the Silk & Snow was no exception. Our tester didn’t notice any sounds at all during our tests, so it’ll work well for light sleepers who are easily disturbed by noise.

Sex

Sex – 4.1

The best mattresses for sex tick a few specific boxes. They respond quickly, which makes it easier for sexual couples to move around. They have strong edge support, ensuring couples stay supported no matter where their activities take them. And they stay silent, minimizing distractions that might take them out of the moment. The Silk & Snow earned an overall score of 4.1/5 in this category, which means it should perform well during sex.

Adjustable Base Compatibility

According to the brand, the Silk & Snow Mattress is compatible with adjustable bases. That makes sense, given its flexible foam construction and low profile. But during testing, we noticed that while it did bend with the base, there were visible gaps and lifting. Without the weight of at least one sleeper on the bed, the Silk & Snow didn’t conform particularly well.

Silk & Snow Customer Experience Scores

Performance is one thing. The customer experience is another. Here’s what to expect with the Silk & Snow.

Trial Period

Trial Period – 5

You can’t beat Silk & Snow’s trial period. You get a full 365 nights to assess the mattress across all four seasons. The company asks that you sleep on the bed for at least 30 nights before initiating a return and a full refund. Happily, Silk & Snow doesn’t have any processing fees, making their trial truly risk-free and worthy of a full 5/5 score.

Warranty

Warranty – 4.5

Ten years is fairly standard for mattress warranties, but the Silk & Snow offers a 15-year warranty on its mattresses. That protects you against any defects in workmanship or materials.

One note: repairs or replacements apply at no cost during the first 10 years of usage. From years 11 to 15, a fee amounting to 75% of the original purchase price applies. That earned the bed 4.5/5.

Unboxing and Moving

Unboxing and Moving – 5

As a bed-in-a-box, the Silk & Snow Mattress ships compressed, rolled, and placed inside a giant box for delivery to your front door.  A queen-size is just under 70 pounds. That was a little heavier than our in-house tester anticipated, but they were still able to move it solo. While having two people for the job will make it go a little faster, it’s not absolutely necessary.

Readiness After Unboxing

After it’s unwrapped and unrolled, the Silk & Snow Mattress inflates immediately. Our in-house tester noted that it’s also easy to maneuver on the bed frame.

Off-gassing

Off-gassing – 5

Memory foam is prone to off-gassing, which means it emits a noticeable “new mattress” odor. That can linger anywhere from a few hours to a few days. But our tester didn’t detect any sort of smell from the Silk & Snow, even immediately after unwrapping. That’s a plus if you’re sensitive to odors.

Silk & Snow Construction

We’ve established that the Silk & Snow is an all-foam bed, but let’s examine its individual layers and other specifics.

Mattress Height & Weight

The standard Silk & Snow Mattress is on the short side at 9 inches. For reference, the average mattress is 12 inches, so this is definitely slimmer than most. Unfortunately, the petite height could cause a problem with deep-pocket sheets won’t, even if you upgrade to the plush – the tallest option (12 inches)l. If you need new sheets for your Silk & Snow bed, check out some of our favorites

The standard model is also the lightest. A queen is 69 pounds. The plush model is heavier, weighing in at 78 pounds.

Materials

The Silk & Snow is made with two layers of foam and encased in a removable polyester cover. We cut into the cover for a peek at those layers.

Layers

Construction of the Silk & Snow Memory Foam Mattress

This mattress has a very simple construction. The polyester cover has an antimicrobial finish to help keep it fresh. The top can be completely unzipped for easy cleaning.

Inside, the comfort layer is 1.5 inches of high-quality gel memory foam for pressure relief. That sits atop a 7.5-inch layer of support foam, which gives the bed its firm feel. Both foams are CertiPUR-US certified and low VOC (volatile organic compounds).

How To Try and Buy The Silk & Snow Mattress

Silk & Snow vs. Nectar Classic Memory Foam

There are many similarities between these two mattresses. Both have a 7/10 firmness rating, a 365-night sleep trial, and are easy on the wallet. But couples will probably prefer the Nectar Classic because it isolates motion so well, handily beating the Silk & Snow in our tests.

The Nectar Classic aced our cooling test as well, so it’s the better choice for hot sleepers. But if you’re after pressure relief, you’re better off on the Silk & Snow. Both beds earned the same responsiveness score, so combination sleepers can opt for either or something altogether springier (like a bed made with coils or latex).

We gave both mattresses the same firmness rating, but we found slightly better contouring for side sleepers on the Silk & Snow. Back sleepers should be comfortable on either mattress.

Thermal imaging of the Nectar Classic Memory Foam Mattress

Silk & Snow vs. Helix Midnight Luxe

The Helix Midnight Luxe is an upgraded hybrid mattress tailor-made for back and side sleepers. It has a medium firmness with a balanced feel, and it outscored the Silk & Snow almost across the board. It’s the better choice for hot sleepers, couples, and combination sleepers.

Still, you pay for that performance. A queen Helix stands 13.25 inches tall and runs close to $2,500 before sales pricing, so it’s the far more expensive option. That also excludes upgrades such as the cooling cover, special heat-transfer layer, and spinal alignment layer, which add significantly to the bottom line. Helix mattresses have a 120-night sleep trial and are backed by a lifetime warranty.

If you’re after the most economical option and you like a firmer mattress, the Silk & Snow is a solid choice. If you’re willing to spend more for luxurious upgrades, the Helix Midnight Luxe delivers.

Our tester with the Helix Midnight Luxe

Silk & Snow vs. Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe

The Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe is designed for hot sleepers, with breathable pocketed coils and cooling upgrades in the cover and top layer. They earned this hybrid a 4.5/5 in our cooling tests, making it the better choice if overheating is an issue.

With a perfect score in responsiveness, it’s also better for combination sleepers. The bed is incredibly responsive, making it really easy to switch positions. Neither bed offered much in the way of deep contouring, and the Aurora Luxe ran a touch firmer at 7.5/10. Side sleepers are likely to find the Silk & Snow a little more forgiving in the hips and shoulders.

Both beds come with different firmness options, but upgrading to medium-firm and plush feels in the Silk & Snow is just that — an upgrade. Choosing a different firmness doesn’t cost you anything on the Aurora Luxe, but you can upgrade to an optional pillow-top. Note that it’s the more expensive mattress of the two as well. A queen size is $2,265 before discounts.

Silk & Snow Mattress FAQs

What materials are used in Silk & Snow mattresses?

Silk & Snow mattresses are made with high-quality foams and textiles manufactured in Toronto, with an emphasis on recycled materials. The flagship memory foam model is made with layers of CertiPur-US-certified foams and has an antimicrobial polyester/spandex blend cover. The brand’s organic uses organic cotton, organic wool, and organic Dunlop latex, along with pocketed steel coils.

Is the Silk & Snow mattress good for back pain?

The Silk & Snow Mattress is made with memory foam, which does a good job of distributing body weight to relieve pressure. That can help relieve back pain. The key is finding a firmness level that works for your body type and sleep style. The standard Silk & Snow mattress has a firm feel, which may not be suitable for pain relief across all sleepers.

Does the Silk & Snow mattress sleep hot?

The Silk & Snow Mattress stays surprisingly neutral for an all-foam model. It’s made with open-cell foam that’s infused with cooling gel, and that does a good job of combatting heat retention. Still, very hot sleepers may prefer a hybrid model with active cooling technology.

How firm is the Silk & Snow mattress?

The Silk & Snow Mattress has a firm feel that we rated a 7/10 on the firmness scale. Medium-firm and plush feels are also available, just be aware that both options add to the cost of this bed.

What is the trial period and warranty for Silk & Snow mattresses?

Silk & Snow mattresses have a 365-night sleep trial and a 15-year warranty.
