The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid combines foam and coils to offer a balance of sturdy support and pressure relief. Our testers found the hybrid was a great choice for combination sleepers, people with chronic pain, and couples. The mattress is also available in three firmness options, making it more customizable.
I’ve been reviewing mattresses for years now and understand the value of both a good night’s rest and a mattress’s likelihood of delivering it. At Mattress Clarity, we test every mattress to present unbiased, in-depth reviews that help shoppers find a bed that fits their unique needs.
Furthermore, we consult with medical experts such as Dr. Raj Dasgupta, our chief medical advisor, and Dr. Hannah Habeeb, our chief medical product tester, to constantly help inform our testing methodology and improve our mattress reviews. Since Mattress Clarity’s founding, we have helped over 43,000 people find a bed that fits their unique sleeping needs, and continue working with the hope that our reviews will help improve people’s sleep and overall well-being.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid showed excellent pressure relief and responsiveness during our testing and is fairly affordable given its American-made construction and design. I’ll go through everything you should know before considering the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid to help you decide if it’s right for you!
Our Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Review in a Nutshell
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is available in multiple firmness options to deliver a balance of support and pressure-relieving comfort. It received high praise for its pressure-relief capabilities, and couples and combination sleepers should appreciate this bed’s excellent responsiveness and motion isolation. However, hot sleepers may not find the cool-down they are looking for.
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating
Every mattress we review goes through our strict testing methodology, which evaluates performance across an array of categories we consider most important to people seeking a new mattress and better sleep. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid demonstrated excellent pressure relief (4.8/5) and motion isolation (4.7/5) during our testing. Although it has decent cooling capabilities (3.5/5), testers found its performance in this category a bit of a letdown. However, it’s one of the better mattresses out there today when it comes to offering pressure relief for side sleeping and back sleeping. Overall, the mattress scored a 4.3 out of 5.

I Recommend the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid For…
- Lightweight and average-weight side and back sleepers. Many back and side sleepers can expect excellent support and pressure relief on the Signature Hybrid.
- Couples. Couples seeking a bed with quality bounce and motion isolation should find the Signature Hybrid a great choice.
- Combination sleepers. Combination sleepers who want a more versatile bed should feel supported in multiple sleeping positions.

I Don’t Recommend the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid For…
- Hot sleepers. People who consistently struggle to feel cool while sleeping may find the Signature Hybrid’s cooling capabilities inadequate.
- Fans of memory foam. While the mattress is available in a softer firmness, fans of super soft memory foam may find the Signature Hybrid too firm for them due to its use of coils.
- Super budget-minded shoppers. The mattress is fairly affordable given its high-quality materials, but it may still feel expensive to some seeking a more budget-friendly option.

How Firm is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress?

Your bed’s firmness should largely be determined by your body type and preferred sleep position. For example, side sleepers may prefer a softer firmness (which cradles and distributes their body weight), while stomach sleepers may prefer a firmer mattress (which keeps their hips and spine aligned). This is because when you rest, you’ll want a firmness that not only offers comfort but also keeps your spine aligned and prevents the buildup of inflammation.
We use a firmness guide on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being as soft as it gets and 10 being as firm as it gets. Notably, the industry standard is typically the medium-firm 6.5/10 firmness, which is also considered the most accessible to different sleeper types. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is available in three firmness options: soft, medium-firm, and firm. We tested the middle model in our studio and found it to be a 6.5/10 on the firmness scale – a true medium firm.
Our in-house tester tried out the medium model in each sleeping position and noted their experience. “I think this bed is a great match for side sleepers. It strikes a really nice balance between soft up top and firmer underneath,” they said.
On their back, they also felt great cushioning and support, and suggested that “back sleepers should really enjoy this bed.” They added, “I feel like my entire body is lifted and supported, and my spine is in a straight, even line.” When they switched to their stomach, they felt comfortable, but thought some stomach sleepers may not find the support they need.
How Does the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?
Your sleep patterns and body weight determine which mattress type will best suit your unique needs. In the graph below, I’ll go through what different types of sleepers in each weight category should expect with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid.
| Sleeper Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
| Light (under 130 lbs) | Excellent | Excellent | Good |
| Average (130-230 lbs) | Excellent | Excellent | Good |
Lightweight Tester – 5’4”, 125 lbs
“I feel balanced from nose to toes. Everything is adequately cushioned and supported, with neither element overshadowing the other.” – Riley Otis
Average-weight Tester – 5’5”, 135 lbs
“Personally, I liked this on my stomach. My hips sank in a little into the pillow top, but not enough to throw my spinal alignment out of whack. I could see some heavier sleepers sinking in more and finding some discomfort, but light and average-stomach folks should appreciate the cushioning on the chest and lower body.” – In-house tester
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid In-Depth Test Results
Pressure Relief
We assess a mattress’s pressure relief by how well it reduces tension and strain in your back, joints, and the rest of your body while you sleep. Dr. Raj Dasgupta says, “An unsuitable mattress can make your pressure point discomfort worse if it doesn’t offer the proper support.”
To grade pressure relief, we use a specialized pressure mat that reads pressure buildup in the body in pounds per square inch (PSI). For context, a PSI of around 14.58 and lower is good for side sleepers, and a PSI of around 12.43 or lower is good for back sleepers (the lower the better). Furthermore, our testers describe how they feel during this test, which we take into account when finalizing our grade.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid scored an exceptional 4.8/5 for pressure relief. Both the lightweight and average-weight tester had high praise for this bed on their backs and sides.

Veteran tester Riley Otis, who represents sleepers weighing 130 pounds or less, said, “I have sensitive joints, and I don’t feel any pressure on this bed when I am on my side.” Riley’s pressure map corroborated her subjective findings, registering 9.48 PSI, which is well below average.

The average-weight tester said she thought the Signature Hybrid was a great match for side sleepers, saying, “It strikes a really nice balance. It has a soft top and a firmer base, giving it a classic medium-firm feel.” She also had pressure map readings well below the baseline, and, like Riley, felt that it did a great job of relieving tension around her shoulders and hips.

However, as much as our testers liked it on their sides, they were even bigger fans when they turned to their back. Riley exclaimed, “I really, really like this bed for back sleeping. My body feels so balanced and supported.”

Her average-weight counterpart stated, “The balance between cushioning and support gives it a true medium-firm feeling that back sleepers should greatly enjoy!” Their PSI readings of 7.29 and 8.69, respectively, highlighted how well this bed performs in the pressure-relief category.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid offers some of the best and most versatile pressure relief we’ve seen for lightweight and average-weight testers.
Edge Support
Edge support is defined by how durable a bed’s edges are when you sit or rest on them. This feature can be important for seniors, people who struggle with mobility issues, or couples sharing a bed. Furthermore, edge support is a good indicator of your bed’s long-term durability. So, considering all this, edge support is something that many overlook, but we see it as an important consideration before purchasing a bed.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature received a 3.4/5 rating from our testers for edge support. We got this score by conducting a “feel” test and a “weighted plate test”.
Feel Test
Here, we had our tester sit and lie down on the Signature Hybrid’s edges and describe the level of support she feels. When she sat on the bed’s edge, she noted that its bounce was a major plus when standing up. “It practically springs you onto your feet,” she said.

However, she felt a decent amount of compression in the top layers, which caused her to sink a few inches. This caused her to deduct a point for this test.
Weighted-Plate Test
In this test, we place three sets of weighted plates to simulate different-sized sleepers sitting on the bed’s edge and measure any sinkage. For reference, we deem anything under 5 inches to be a good result.

We recorded 4.8 inches of sagging with the lightweight plate set, 5.5 inches with the average-weight plate set, and 6.25 inches with the heavyweight plate set. Although Riley wasn’t overly concerned with the edge support when conducting the subjective test, after we measured the compression caused by the weighted plate stacks, we settled on a belove average score of 3.4 stars.
Cooling
Hot sleepers want a bed that efficiently dissipates body heat, so you don’t feel clammy and uncomfortable as you try to sleep. This is also important for couples who share a bed, as you don’t want body heat to prevent cuddling or closeness. That’s why we conduct a thorough evaluation of how well a bed keeps sleepers cool.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid scored a 3.5/5 for its cooling abilities. We conducted a subjective “feel test” and an objective “thermal gun test” to get this score.
For the feel test, our in-house tester rested on the Signature Hybrid and explained how it felt in terms of temperature regulation and its ability to keep them cool. They were personally pleased, saying, “I thought this mattress had a very nice initial chill to it. The cover is smooth and sleek, and I really like how I can feel the cooling effects, even through my sweatshirt.” They added, “As I lay there, I felt myself warming up ever so slightly, but I never felt overly warm or uncomfortable.”
However, we got a slightly different perspective when we used the thermal gun. For context, in this objective test, we measure the mattress’s core temperature in our studio. Then our in-house tester lies on the bed for 7 minutes. After they get up, we immediately check the bed’s core temperature with a thermal gun to see if it has risen from their body heat.

The Signature Hybrid’s starting temperature was 67.7 degrees, and it rose 8.2 degrees to 75.9 degrees after our tester rested on it. This is considered a decent cooling score, not excellent (6 degrees or less).
Overall, I would say experiences may vary. Our tester’s experience suggests that some sleepers may find the cooling they need with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid. But for super hot sleepers seeking a bed with better-than-decent cooling, I’d suggest considering one of our top cooling mattress picks as an alternative.
Thermal Gun Test Scoring Graph
| Less than a 4-degree change | 5/5 |
| 4-6 degree change | 4.5/5 |
| 6-8 degree change | 4/5 |

Motion Isolation
A bed’s ability to isolate motion is really important for restless sleepers and couples. If you ever slept on a creaky or shaky mattress with your partner, you may already know this. Mattresses that can’t isolate motion may result in your partner’s movements waking you up in the night, or even you waking yourself up when switching sleeping positions.
However, the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid earned an excellent 4.7/5 in our motion isolation tests, making it a great choice for couples and restless sleepers.
Our in-house testers conducted two tests to get this score, which I’ll break down below.
Ripple Test
This objective test is pretty straightforward. Here, we place a large, clear tub of water on one side of the bed, then have one of our testers get in and out of the bed and switch sleeping positions next to it. This resembles someone sleeping while another person enters or leaves the bed or sleeps next to them. While doing this, they observe how much their movements affect the water in the tub.

Our tester explained their findings, saying, “I was pretty impressed with the ripple test. When I sat down on the edge of the bed, the water barely moved. And then, when I began switching sleeping positions, it rippled softly and gently swayed from side to side. This was a very small disturbance compared to some other beds I’ve tried.”
Partner Test
Here, instead of a tub of water, one of our in-house testers rests on the bed and assesses how much they feel the other tester’s movements next to them. Our resting tester didn’t feel any substantial motion transference from the moving tester during this test, putting their findings simply, saying, “The bed was really good! I was surprised because it’s pretty bouncy.”

Based on our testing, I’d definitely suggest the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid for couples or sleepers who need quality motion isolation from their bed.
Response
Responsiveness correlates with how easy it is to move around on a bed’s surface. For example, a responsive bed should adapt to your movements quickly, following you as you sleep with consistent support, regardless of position. Furthermore, couples will appreciate a responsive bed because it offers bounce-back support, helping them move without sinking into the bed’s soft comfort layers.
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid received a 4/5 from our in-house expert tester for responsiveness. Despite its plush surface feel, its hybrid design generates bounce from its coiled layer, making it a bouncier, more responsive bed, even though it uses foam.
After testing, Riley explained their grade, saying, “This bed has a lively, springy feel, even with the plush pillow top and foam layers on top. The bounce actually helped me switch positions, giving a bit of lift as I moved around. It wasn’t completely effortless since I still had to press through the pillow top slightly, but I never felt stuck or like I had to use much effort to reposition.
I’d suggest the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid for couples and combination sleepers who want a softer feel, but still want to move around on it with ease. However, if you think the Signature Hybrid may not be responsive enough for you, you may want to consider a latex mattress, because latex beds are notoriously bouncy and more responsive. You can check out our top latex mattress picks here.
Sinkage: Deep
Our in-house tester placed a 44-pound kettlebell on the Signature Hybrid and then measured how much it sank to determine “sinkage.” This test helps forecast how much sleepers should expect to sink into the bed’s upper comfort layers when lying down. Deep sinkage resembling cradling is typical of softer all-foam beds, while light sinkage is more typical of bouncy mattresses like latex beds.
We measured 4 inches of sinkage with the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, which would be considered moderate. This bed will offer many sleepers a comfortable, doughy feel but it won’t provide the deep hug contouring of many memory foam mattresses.
How We Judge Sinkage Guide
| Light Sinkage | 0-2.5” |
| Moderate Sinkage | 2.6-4” |
| Deep Sinkage | 4+” |

Bounce: High
To assess a bed’s bounce, we dropped a ball from a ladder onto the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid and measured how high it bounced back. Our testers measured a massive 31-inch rebound of the ball.
Using the graph below as a reference for how we judge this test, the Signature Hybrid clearly earned a 5/5 grade for its bounce. This suggests you can expect a sturdy bounce from the Signature Hybrid, ease of movement on its surface, and responsive support for couples and combination sleepers.
Ball Bounce Test Guide
| Low Bounce | 12” or less |
| Moderate Bounce | 12”-18” |
| High Bounce | 18” or more |

Noise
If you live with roommates or have kids, or just easily wake up at night, a creaky mattress you’re worried about moving around on is anything but ideal. That’s why we always have a tester move around on the mattress and specifically listen for how quiet it is.
Our tester heard “nothing” when they tried moving around on the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid, giving the mattress a 5/5 for noise. This means couples who share a home can likely enjoy intimate moments with less concern about anyone hearing, and restless combination sleepers can move with more ease.
Sex
We factor in a bed’s responsiveness (bounce), edge support (full-perimeter support), and noise (peace and privacy) scores to determine how good a bed is for sex. The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid scored a 4.1/5 after factoring in all those performance scores.
This means the Signature Hybrid should be a quality mattress for sex, but if you’re still interested in other options, you can check out our top mattress picks for sex in 2026 review.
Adjustable Base Compatibility
We tried the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid on an adjustable base and found it performed quite well, earning it a 5/5 in this category. Our tester said, “It was able to easily conform to the zero-gravity position,” which is one of the better benefits of owning an adjustable base. They did note a very small gap under the bed, but this is quite common with mattresses and adjustable bases, and they added that, “it wasn’t large enough to be concerning.”

The Signature Hybrid should be a great choice to match with an adjustable base if you’re seeking the benefits of owning one. You can also check out our top picks for adjustable bases and bed frames available today.
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Customer Experience Scores
A mattress is a long-term investment, so it’s important to know what you’re truly in for. Below, I’ll break down all the fine print that comes with purchasing a Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress, as well as the experience of ordering one and getting it into your home.
Trial Period
Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night trial with the purchase of its Signature Hybrid mattress. The company does suggest giving the mattress at least 30 days to break in before returning it.
The sleep trial is fairly generous, so it received a 4/5 grade when compared to other mattresses. However, some other brands offer 365-night sleep trials, and Brooklyn Bedding charges a $99 return fee when returning the bed during the sleep trial. So, we had to deduct a point for this.
Warranty
Brooklyn Bedding offers a limited lifetime warranty with the purchase of the Signature Hybrid. A lifetime warranty is as good as it gets, so we gave it a near-perfect 4.5/5 for this category. However, I should note that the warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, if you purchase the mattress from a third-party retailer, or if the person returning it is not the original purchaser.
Unboxing and Moving
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is an online mattress, meaning you order it online and it comes compressed in a box. When we ordered it for our studio, our tester mentioned that “it’s pretty heavy due to the coils,” so I would suggest having an extra set of hands when it arrives to move it into place, especially when lifting it onto a box spring or bed frame.
The tester specifically said they were able to push the box around the studio themselves, but couldn’t lift it on their own. Overall, they said it was a “pretty standard” unboxing experience and scored it as a 4/5.

Readiness After Unboxing
Once you get the Signature Hybrid out of its delivery box, Brooklyn Bedding suggests letting it decompress for 3 to 5 hours. The company also says you can sleep on it the same day, but full expansion or decompression may take anywhere from 24 to 72 hours.

Off-gassing
Just like a new car, new mattresses also come with a “new mattress” smell. However, this smell, which we refer to as off-gassing, can be quite strong and chemical-like. So we always assess the level of off-gassing you might expect with a new mattress. When the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid arrived at our studio, and our tester took it out of the box, they reported “no scent at all” and gave the mattress a 5/5 in this category.
Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Construction
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid features a multi-layered hybrid design that combines pocketed coils and foam. I’ll break down its build, construction, and materials below.
Mattress Height & Weight
The Signature Hybrid stands about 12.25 inches tall. Furthermore, for general reference, its queen-size model weighs roughly 100 pounds.
Materials
The Signature Hybrid uses steel coils and a variety of supportive and responsive comfort foams. Notably, the Signature Hybrid is made in Arizona. It is GREENGUARD Gold certified and features CertiPUR-US certified foams. This means the foam materials in the Signature Hybrid are less toxic than those in cheaper mattresses. Furthermore, Brooklyn Bedding doesn’t use fiberglass as a flame retardant in the Signature Hybrid, making it a more hypoallergenic mattress.
Layers

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid packs eight strategic layers into its 12.5-inch build.
On the surface is a plush pillow top GlacioTex cooling cover that feels cool to the touch and is designed to optimize breathability and comfort. Underneath are two .75-inch layers of moisture-wicking quilted foam that generate comfort while further dissipating body heat. Then there is a solid inch of gel “swirl” memory foam for contouring and additional comfort.
Then there is a 1-inch layer of responsive foam and a 1-inch layer of Variflex transitional foam, meant to provide bounce and serve as a transitional layer between the bed’s supportive, coiled layer and the upper soft comfort layers. Underneath, there is a layer of 760 individually encased steel coils that enhance support while stimulating airflow throughout the bed’s core.
Finally, at its base is a layer of sturdy 0.75-inch foam, designed to enhance durability and provide a firm foundation for the entire mattress.
How To Try and Buy The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress
The Signature Hybrid is an online mattress, so you’ll likely find the best deal on it on Brooklyn Bedding’s official website or on Amazon. However, there are a few showrooms that offer the Signature Hybrid, and you can find out if one is near you on Brooklyn Bedding’s showroom locator page on their site.
While you won’t be able to try it out in person when ordering online, Brooklyn Bedding offers a 120-night sleep trial with a $99 return fee if you return it within that period. Notably, though, if purchasing the Signature Hybrid in a showroom, the trial, warranty, and return process will all need to go through the showroom, and not the company’s online customer service.

How The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Compares
If the Signature Hybrid still doesn’t seem right for you, I’ve matched it with some other mattresses we’ve tested and reviewed at Mattress Clarity.
- Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe Mattress – Better cooling
- Helix Midnight Mattress – Better edge support
- Saatva Classic – More eco-friendly

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid vs. Brooklyn Bedding Aurora Luxe
The Signature Hybrid and Aurora Luxe are both hybrid mattresses that use specialized foams and steel coils made by Brooklyn Bedding in the USA. The Aurora Luxe ($1,698.75 for a queen before discounts) is similarly priced to the Signature Hybrid, but showed different performance results.
The Aurora Luxe advertises that it offers superior, specialized cooling for hot sleepers, which, actually, we found to be true when we tested both. The Aurora Luxe received a 4.5/5 for cooling compared to the Signature Hybrid’s 3.5/5. However, the Signature Hybrid demonstrated better pressure relief and motion isolation than the Aurora Luxe.
Overall, the beds have similar construction and design. With that said, I think hot sleepers may prefer the Aurora Luxe for its better cooling, and couples or combination sleepers may also prefer the Luxe for its better responsiveness (5/5).

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid vs. Helix Midnight
The Helix Midnight is also a hybrid mattress, like the Signature. The Helix Midnight is a bit more affordable than the Signature Hybrid, coming in around $1,400 for a queen before discounts. Both are also medium-firm (6.5/10), making them more accessible to different types of sleepers.
The Helix Midnight didn’t really stand out compared to the Signature Hybrid when we tested it. In fact, the only test in which it showed superior quality was edge support (4.4/5), which may mean the Midnight will be slightly more durable in the long term. However, both mattresses only demonstrated decent cooling for hot sleepers, with the Signature (3.5/5) edging out the Midnight (3/5). Furthermore, the Signature Hybrid demonstrated slightly better pressure relief and motion isolation to our testers, which may mean you get more bang for your buck with the Signature than the Helix Midnight.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid vs. Saatva Classic
The Saatva Classic is a luxury mattress that is considerably more expensive ($2,179 for a queen before discounts) than the Signature Hybrid. The Saatva Classic is also available in three firmness levels, offering similar customization to the Signature Hybrid.
The Saatva Classic demonstrated excellent edge support (5/5) and responsiveness (5/5) during tests, likely due to the lack of foam layers. However, the innerspring design made the mattress a bit noisy during testing, and it received a 2.7/5 score for motion isolation, likely due to this design. With multiple foam comfort layers, the Signature Hybrid scored slightly better in pressure relief.
I would say the Saatva Classic will offer a restorative, supported rest, but may not be for sleepers seeking the softer comfort and quick-sand feel associated with memory foam mattresses. Furthermore, while its multiple firmness options offer some versatility, I would say couples should opt for the Signature Hybrid, because you can probably expect a lot of motion transfer and creaking with the Saatva Classic.

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress FAQs
What is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid made of?
The mattress is made of multiple foam layers and steel coils. Closer to the sleep surface are softer cushioning and cooling foams, with a foundation of high-density foam and coils offering enhanced support layers.
What firmness options are available?
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid is available in three firmness options: soft (4/10), medium-firm (6.5/10), and firm (8/10). Lightweight side sleepers will likely prefer the soft model, with most side and back sleepers enjoying the medium-firm model, and heavy and stomach sleepers preferring the firm model. Or as Dr. Shelby Harris, Licensed Clinical Psychologist, says, “The right firmness level is also associated with your sleeping position. Back sleepers tend to do best on medium-firm beds, stomach sleepers on firm beds, and side sleepers on soft beds.”
Is the Signature Hybrid good for hot sleepers?
The Signature Hybrid is decent for hot sleepers, but likely not the best mattress for them. It scored 3.5/5 for heat retention, which is slightly below average and not great for a luxury hybrid mattress. Some hot sleepers may find what they need with the Signature Hybrid, but others may want to opt for a good mattress with better cooling scores.
Is the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid a good value?
The Signature Hybrid is not cheap, but it is also competitively priced for the type of mattress it is (hybrid). I would consider it one of the more affordable hybrid models available, but still, it’s a high-quality luxury mattress, with a price that reflects that status.
