Parachute Linen Sheets Materials

The Parachute Linen sheets are made from 100% European flax that has been OEKO-Tex certified. This certification means that the flax was grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides.

The fitted sheet can fit mattresses up to 16” tall. This makes the pockets deep and means they shouldn’t pop up during the night if you change positions frequently.

Parachute sources its flax from a family-owned textile factory in Portugal.

What to Consider Before Buying

Let’s cover some key considerations before purchasing a set of sheets from Parachute!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Linens are a fantastic choice for hot sleepers. While these sheets have a bit of heft to them, they felt fairly light spread out on the bed. Flax is a very breathable material, and because the flax threads are thicker, linens typically don’t have a tight weave.

This allows the sheets to really open up and let air flow through easily. Every time I changed positions with these sheets, I felt a breeze coming through.

So, if you’re a hot sleeper like myself, linens are a great option to consider. Flax also has the added benefit of being moisture-wicking, so night sweats and overheating are a non-issue!

Care Instructions

Parachute offers easy care instructions for its linen sheets.

The linens are machine-washable, and the brand recommends washing with similar colors, using a mild, liquid detergent. There isn’t a water temperature mentioned, but cold water is a common recommendation.

Avoid using bleach for lighter colors, and from there you can tumble dry on low heat. If you notice any persistent wrinkles, you have the option to warm iron on low heat.

Allergies

Flax is considered a hypoallergenic material. People with sensitive skin or allergies shouldn’t have any issues with this sheet set.

Company Policies

Here’s what you can expect when you make a purchase from Parachute Home!

Set Includes

For this review, I received the queen-size set. The base set includes:

  • A fitted sheet
  • Two standard-sized pillow cases

It should be noted this is considered the sheet set. When ordering sheets from Parachute, you will need to add the flat sheet to your order. I opted to add the top sheet to my set.

Parachute offers the linen sheet set in all bed sizes, from twin to California king, and all sizes come with two standard-sized pillowcases.

This set has 10 color options to choose from for anyone looking for color variety.

Return Policy

For all bed sheets, Parachute offers free returns and exchanges within 60 days. Parachute also offers free shipping on orders and returns.

How Do the Parachute Linen Sheets Compare to Other Sheets?

Comparison is always key when shopping for new sheets. Let’s see how the Parachute linen sheet set compares to other sheet sets on the market!

Parachute vs Brooklinen

Brooklinen sheets come in many different styles, but for this comparison I’m going to focus on the Luxe Core set.

The main difference between these sheets is that they’re made from different materials. The Parachute Linens are made with 100% European flax, while the Luxe Core sheets are made of 100% long-staple cotton. These materials will produce different feels.

A hand brushes across the Brooklinen Luxe Sheets.

Flax linen will produce a coarse, textured feel. While this might not be everyone’s preference, it still feels very soft. Cotton can feel rather crisp, but with the sateen weave in these sheets, they feel buttery smooth and soft to the touch.

Both have a number of color options, though Brooklinen offers designs for its sheets as well.

Who Should Get the Parachute Linen Sheets?

  • Fans of textured linen sheets
  • Hot sleepers

Who Should Get the Brooklinen Luxe Core Sheets?

Parachute vs Layla

Bamboo sheets are known to feel soft and satin-like. And if you’re not sure the texture of linen is for you, then Layla’s bamboo sheets are another cooling option!

Both bamboo and flax are great materials for hot sleepers. They’re breathable and moisture-wicking so you shouldn’t sleep hot and sweaty under either of these sheets. Bamboo and linen bedding are also naturally hypoallergenic, so if you have sensitive skin or allergies. These sheets will fight allergens in your sleep environment!

You’ll typically sleep under your flat sheet.

However, if you’re looking for a wide variety of color options, Parachute offers 10 colors, while Layla only offers white or gray. Finally, looking at the price point, Layla’s are more affordable, and Layla will also have great deals throughout the year.

FAQs

Let’s answer some of the most frequently asked questions about the Parachute Linen sheets!

Do Parachute linen sheets get softer?

Linens do feel textured, and this may not be everyone’s preference. However, linens are designed to get softer the more you use and wash them. And Parachute mentions that its sheets are not artificially softened, meaning no synthetic chemical softeners go into the production of the sheets.

How long will the Parachute Linen sheets last?

Linens are some of the best bed sheets for their durability. With good care, high-quality linens shouldn’t show signs of wear and tear for the first three to five years, and can last even longer than that!

What is the difference between percale, sateen, and linen sheets?

Parachute offers three types of sheets: percale, sateen, and linens. The percale and sateen sheets refer to the weave style used to make the sheets. These weaves are for cotton sheets, and Parachute uses long-staple Egyptian cotton for these sheets.

Percale and sateen sheets feel differently, with percale feeling crisp, like a fresh pressed shirt. Sateen sheets feel buttery smooth and soft. Meanwhile, linens are made with flax and have a coarse texture to them.
