Saatva Adjustable Base Plus Review (2026)

Beyond helping people find and fine-tune their preferred positions, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus comes with numerous extra features to provide an elevated sleep experience.

Among those features are massage settings, custom presets, and even a mobile phone app that mirrors the wireless remote. However, more features can present more problems, which is why our testing team put this adjustable base through numerous in-depth tests.

We put the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus through the wringer to see if these features would actually improve your life, or if they would overcomplicate an otherwise restful nightโ€™s sleep.

Collectively, the Mattress Clarity team has tested over 200 sleep accessories and has been operating for more than seven years. And many product reviews later, we helped more than 6,600 people find the perfect bed in 2025 alone (and more than 43,000 people over the years weโ€™ve been in operation), so we know a thing or two about sleep.

Read on to see how the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus performed across all our tests, and if it is actually one of the best adjustable beds you can buy.

Our Saatva Adjustable Base Plus Review in a Nutshell

The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus is a feature-packed adjustable bed designed for shoppers who want more than just basic head and foot elevation. Its reliable performance across key positions, including its pressure-relieving zero-gravity setting that earned a perfect score in our testing, left a strong impression on our product testers. They also enjoyed the underbed lighting, customizable presets, and app connectivity. However, they noted that the remote and overall tech experience felt slightly overcomplicated out of the box.

Saatva Adjustable Base Plus In-Depth Test Results

Remote Design

Remote Design โ€“ 4

We gave the remote control a 4/5 during testing. Our product experts deducted a point because the interface was a little busy and slightly less intuitive than they would have liked.

saatva adjustable base plus remote

There are controls for head and foot elevation, zero gravity, snore position, massage functions, and underbed lighting. There is also a built-in flashlight on the remote itself, which felt a little unnecessary during testing.

โ€œA lot is going on here,โ€ one tester said. โ€œAt first glance, the layout isnโ€™t the most intuitive, and it honestly feels a bit like using a VCR remote. There are numerous buttons, but there is no clear visual hierarchy. That said, most of these controls are genuinely useful, and we appreciate having direct access to preset positions and lighting without having to dig through menus.โ€

Despite the slight learning curve, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus is mostly uncomplicated to use. After a quick run-through, our testing team felt confident navigating the settings.

Adjustments

Adjustments โ€“ 4

The best bed frames should make it easy to switch between settings and tweak the angle. This seamless operation is especially important for couples, as the motor should run without any sudden jerking movements that could cause discomfort or disrupt a sleeping partner.

Fortunately, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus transitioned between positions without any complications. That said, while adjustments were free of any jarring or abrupt movements, the experience did not necessarily stand out from other high-end models we have tested.

As one tester put it, โ€œThe base feels pretty slick when adjusting. There were no major pauses or movements. It went about as expected. I was neither impressed nor unimpressed. I would give it a 4/5 in this category.โ€

Upright Position

Upright Position โ€“ 4.5

The upright position elevates the head of the bed to create a seated or near-seated posture (similar to a recliner). This setting is ideal for reading, watching TV, or working from bed, because it helps keep your upper body supported and reduces strain on the neck and lower back.

It took just 22 seconds for the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus to move from neutral to fully upright, which our in-house testers found quick and velvety-smooth; they gave this position a 4.5-star rating overall.

โ€œThe transition itself was easy, without any abrupt shifts or mechanical jolts,โ€ one tester said. โ€œOnce elevated, I noticed some solid pressure relief throughout my lower lumbar region. This position would be comfortable for reading or watching TV, especially if youโ€™re someone with back pain.โ€

However, itโ€™s important to note that some of that comfort is likely a result of the Saatva Memory Foam Hybrid mattress we paired with the base, which contours well and cushions the body in elevated positions.

Zero-Gravity Position

Zero-Gravity Position โ€“ 5

The zero-gravity elevates the head and legs, placing your body in a neutral, slightly reclined posture that mimics the feeling of weightlessness. For many sleepers, it helps ease tension, improve circulation, and promote overall relaxation.

Our in-house product expert gave the Saatva adjustable baseโ€™s zero-gravity position a perfect 5/5 score during testing. It took just 28 seconds to move from flat into zero-g, with no noticeable jerking or harsh movements.

Once in position, he noted excellent pressure relief in his back.

โ€œThe pressure relief was excellent in zero-g,โ€ he said. โ€œI noticed a clear reduction in tension through my lower back and hips. My legs felt comfortably elevated and evenly supported.โ€

Ease of Use

Ease of Use โ€“ 4

While more features often mean more headaches, the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus is relatively straightforward to use, despite its somewhat clunky remote design. After a short adjustment period, we found that everything functioned as intended during testing. Our in-house team gave the adjustable base a 4/5 for ease of use, docking a point because it isnโ€™t especially intuitive right out of the box.

โ€œI feel like whenever Saatva tries to do technology, it comes off as cumbersome and overthought,โ€ one tester noted. โ€œThis thing certainly works, and you certainly can become familiar with it, but itโ€™s not mind-blowingly easy to use.โ€

Noise

Noise โ€“ 4

Noise is an essential consideration if you share your bed with a particularly light sleeper. For this reason, our product testers used a sound level meter or a smartphone app to measure noise levels in decibels as they switched between settings on each adjustable base.

We gave the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus a 4 out of 5 for noise. Our in-house product team recorded 42.1 decibels when moving into the TV position and 34.3 decibels when switching to zero gravity. Overall, the volume isnโ€™t particularly loud and shouldnโ€™t be disruptive in most bedrooms.

โ€œThere is a slight whine compared to other models weโ€™ve tested,โ€ one product tester said. โ€œWhile it wasnโ€™t harsh or alarming, the sound was a bit more noticeable. For most sleepers, this likely wonโ€™t be an issue. However, those who are especially sensitive to noise may find it somewhat irritating over time.โ€

Massage

While the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus features a built-in massage option, we found it did not enhance the overall experience. Because the vibrations will likely have to travel through several layers of foam and coils in your mattress, their effects will feel fairly subtle. That said, this feature might work better for sleepers with thin mattresses.

Additional Features

Beyond the massage button, the Saatva adjustable base comes with a few thoughtful additions. The soft underbed lighting effectively illuminates nighttime bathroom trips, while custom presets make it a breeze for sleepers to dial in their perfect settings.

The base also pairs with a companion phone app that mirrors the remoteโ€™s functions, allowing you to adjust sleep positions and features directly from your phone.

The base we tested was also an Upper Flex model, with split between the upper (head) areas of the base. Youโ€™d need to order a split king or upper flex mattress model from Saatva in order to take full advantage of this feature, which allows partners to independently raise or lower the head on their side of the mattress.

Saatva Adjustable Base Plus Materials and Assembly

The overall construction of the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus feels substantial, with a weight capacity of 850 pounds. Like most premium adjustable bases, it features a motorized system within the frame to power head and foot articulation. The upgraded adjustable base from Saatva also features massage, underbed lighting, and app compatibility.

According to Saatva, setup is straightforward and tool-free, typically taking about 15 to 30 minutes. The process involves unfolding the base upside down, screwing in the legs, flipping it upright, and plugging it in. While no tools are required, the Adjustable Base Plus is bulky, so we recommend having a second person nearby to help lift and position the frame.

For shoppers whoโ€™d rather skip setup altogether, Saatva also offers free assembly. If selected, Saatva will send a white-glove delivery team to your home to handle the setup.

Saatva Policies

Before you buy an adjustable base, it is important to read the fine print regarding the trial, warranty, and return policies. In many instances, mattress companies can be more stringent with their policies concerning adjustable bases and lifestyle products. Learn more about Saatvaโ€™s policies below.

Trial Period

Unlike the Saatva mattress, the Adjustable Base Plus does not come with a trial period. Since they are considered final sale items, Saatva does not offer trials or returns for adjustable bases.

Returns

At this time, Saatva does not offer returns or exchanges for adjustable bases and lifestyle products.

Warranty

The Saatva Adjustable Base Plus comes with a 25-year warranty, split into two coverage periods.

During the first five years, the warranty covers defects in materials and craftsmanship, as well as the cost of replacement parts. Saatva also covers any authorized labor and transportation during this time.

From years six through 25, the warranty shifts to a prorated structure that covers steel and mechanical frame components, but not electronics, motors, and electrical parts. During this period, customers are responsible for service and transportation costs. The customer must also cover a portion of the replacement part cost based on the amount of time they have owned the base.

The warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.

Saatva Adjustable Base Plus FAQs

What mattresses are not compatible with an adjustable bed?

Do I need a box spring with the Saatva Adjustable Base Plus?

No, you donโ€™t need a box spring with an adjustable base. The base itself acts as the supportive foundation for your mattress.
