How Firm is the Silk & Snow?
Mattress Clarity’s firmness scale ranges from 1-10, with 6.5/10 representing medium firm. This is also the industry standard, and it’s exactly what the Silk & Snow feels like! If you need something that creates a great balance of comfort and support, this could be a good option.
Sleeping On The Silk & Snow
Generally, the Silk & Snow mattress works well for back and side sleepers. It’s not quite supportive enough to suit stomach sleepers, so if you fall in this category you should consider getting one of the best firm mattresses.
What Does the Silk & Snow Feel Like?
The Silk & Snow has a stereotypical memory foam feel. You’ll gently sink into its foam layers and feel lots of body contouring around your shoulders and hips. This is great news for people who like to rest ‘inside’ the mattress rather than on top.
However, if you’re not a fan of that quicksand kind of feel, you may want to look for a hybrid mattress. And because the Silk & Snow is so cushy, it’s difficult to move around on top of it and switch sleeping positions.
Average Weight Sleepers – 130 lb – 230 lb
Average weight sleepers should get decent support while back sleeping. However, in my personal experience, I found this mattress a bit too slow-moving. My lower back sinks into the comfort layer, and I don’t get the support that I prefer. That said, everyone’s preferences differ. Some people may love that extra bit of body contouring.
The Silk & Snow’s plush comfort layer proves especially beneficial for side sleepers. In this sleeping position, average weight folks will get plenty of relief along pressure points.
The Silk & Snow isn’t a great pick for average weight stomach sleepers, though. This bed isn’t firm enough to keep the hips elevated. Over time, it could cause some lower back pain.
Heavyweight Sleepers – Over 230 lb
People who weigh between 230 lb and 300 lb should feel comfy while side sleeping, but we don’t recommend it for most big and tall people. Heavyweight folks will significantly sink through the slow-moving comfort layer and feel more of the support foam underneath. This means some people will experience muscle pain if they rest on this bed for an extended amount of time.
Lightweight Sleepers – Under 130 lb
The Silk & Snow mattress is a great pick for lightweight people – no matter which sleeping position they prefer. People who weigh less than 130 lb won’t sink too far into the comfort layer, so they’ll get the comfort and support they need.

But how well does this mattress perform? Let’s take a moment to examine a few key categories.
Sleeping Hot or Cold
Memory foam mattresses have gotten a bad rep because many of them trap heat. Thankfully, Silk & Snow included a gel-infused cooling layer, which helps dissipate body heat and keep sleepers cool.
While this definitely helps the mattress, the Silk & Snow may not be the best option for exceptionally hot sleepers. These all-foam models don’t sleep as cool as hybrid mattresses, which promote airflow and breathability.
Motion Transfer
Couples – take note! If you often wake up when your partner shifts sleeping positions, this won’t be an issue on the Silk & Snow. Thanks to its thick foam layers, this mattress has great motion isolation.

The Silk & Snow excels when it comes to motion transfer, but it doesn’t have the best edge support. If you rest near the side of the mattress, you’ll feel the edges sink underneath you. This won’t burden single people, but if you share a bed with someone, you might be forced to sleep closer to the center of the mattress.
Durability
The Silk & Snow contains high-quality materials, but it isn’t as durable as many hybrid mattresses. We expect the Silk & Snow to last between five and seven years, which is a bit less than a pricey, luxury mattress.
Off-Gassing
“Off-gassing” is an industry term that describes the chemical smell mattresses often emit after customers unbox them. Some off-gassing occurred when we opened the Silk & Snow, but it dissipated after 48 hours.
Noise
If you’re concerned about your mattresses squeaking and creating noise, that won’t be an issue on the Silk & Snow. This all-foam bed doesn’t contain coils, so it should remain silent for its entire lifespan.
Sex
Couples looking for the best mattress for sex usually want something that feels bouncy and responsive. Unfortunately, the Silk & Snow doesn’t fit the bill.
