DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress Review (2025)

The cushioning embrace of memory foam is one of my favorite aspects of an all-foam bed, but as an average-weight combination sleeper, I often find myself sinking way too deep into them to get the firm support I need. However, the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam bed is an all-foam mattress that solves this problem and stands out from the rest with its firmer feel and above-average cooling. In this DreamCloud mattress review, we put those features to the test to see who this mattress is best suited for, and what sets the all-foam mattress apart from the brand’s hybrid options, such as the DreamCloud Premier or DreamCloud Classic Hybrid.

For almost four years, I’ve reviewed a wide range of mattresses to help shoppers understand what type of bed best meets their needs. The team at Mattress Clarity shares this goal, and has reviewed over 500 mattresses and helped more than 5,919 people find the right bed for their homes in 2024 alone. Every bed we examine goes through our rigorous, medically backed testing process combining objective results and our professional opinions on who a mattress will work best for. We also verify all our findings with experts, such as our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM.

When we put the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam mattress to the test, it demonstrated excellent performance scores across the board. The bed scored at least a 4/5 in every category we test in a mattress, resulting in a 4.5/5 for an overall score. In this article, I’ll explain how we came to these numbers, and whether I think it’s the best option to replace your old mattress.

The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam mattress offers unflagging firmness and support along with more cooling than you might expect from an all-foam bed. We recommend it for back and stomach sleepers, as well as for heavyweight folks. However, side sleepers and people who enjoy a particularly cushy bed won’t find their match here.

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating

Like every new mattress we review, the DreamCloud Classic underwent a thorough evaluation of its construction, performance, and customer experience by our team at Mattress Clarity to determine if it can truly offer a good night’s rest. Simply put, our sleep specialists were impressed and determined an overall 4.5 out of 5 rating for the mattress.

I think hot sleepers in particular should take notice of the DreamCloud Classic’s 4/5 score for cooling. Additionally, the mattress scored a 4.5/5 for pressure relief and its supportive edges, making it a potentially great sleep experience for seniors or people struggling with chronic joint or back pain.

Furthermore, DreamCloud offers its Classic Memory Foam with a lifetime warranty and a 365-night trial, which is generally as good as it gets in the mattress world, resulting in a 5/5 for customer experience. I’d say it’s quite evident that the DreamCloud Classic generally lives up to its luxury reputation. However, despite this status, it has a more affordable price ($799 for a queen at the time of writing) than similar-grade mattresses, which makes it a potentially great buy for shoppers not looking to put a hole in their wallets.

I Recommend the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam For…

  • Hot Sleepers – Hot sleepers who enjoy memory foam should appreciate the Classic’s quality temperature regulation, which we found to be better than expected for an all-foam bed.
  • Budget-minded shoppers – Despite being a luxury-grade bed, the DreamCloud Classic is available at a competitive price for what it offers ($799 for a queen).
  • Heavier sleepers – The firmness of the DreamCloud mattress may make it a better choice for heavier sleepers who typically sink too much into softer all-foam beds.
  • Seniors – Older sleepers or people with mobility issues who struggle to get in and out of bed should appreciate the excellent edge support of the DreamCloud Classic.
  • Couples – The mattress offers couples great motion isolation when sharing the bed, and plenty of responsiveness for repositioning during sex.

I Don’t Recommend the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam For…

  • Lightweight side sleepers – While some may enjoy the DreamCloud mattress’s firmness, many lightweight side sleepers may find the mattress too firm and prefer a mattress with a softer, more contouring comfort layer.
  • Fans of bouncy mattresses – Sleepers who prefer mattresses with a lot of bounce may want to consider a latex or hybrid mattress alternative to the Classic, such as the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.
  • Fans of super soft mattresses – You won’t experience the plush softness many associate with memory foam mattresses on the DreamCloud Classic, which has a 7.5/10 firmness.

How Firm Is the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress?

7.5/10 mattress firmness on a scale

The right firmness for your best night of sleep is not just a matter of preference, but also your body type and preferred sleeping position. As our chief medical advisor, Dr. Raj Dasgupta, puts it: “Very soft mattresses might not support you properly, and extremely firm mattresses might not be comfortable for everyone.” For example, if you sleep on your side, you’ll likely prefer a softer mattress to contour and cushion your knees and shoulders and help prevent inflammation in those sensitive joints. If you sleep on your stomach, the best mattress for you is a firmer mattress that can help prevent lower back pain and support the alignment of your spine. Knowing this, we use a firmness scale at Mattress Clarity that ranges from 1 to 10 (with 1 being the softest and 10 being the equivalent of a hardwood floor) to help understand a bed’s real-life firmness.

The DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam is available in a 7.5/10 firmness. This is firmer than most all-foam mattresses, which tend to be softer than innerspring or hybrid mattresses, and above the industry-standard 6.5/10 medium-firm feel that I’d deem the most accessible to most sleeper types. This higher level of firmness should make the all-foam mattress a more ideal pick for back and stomach sleepers. Most side sleepers, particularly those under 130 pounds, will likely find it too firm.

I’ll break down our testers’ personal experiences with the DreamCloud Classic’s firmness level later in this article.

How Does the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?

The DreamCloud Classic is pretty firm for an all-foam mattress (7.5/10). This makes the mattress more accessible to back sleepers and stomach sleepers of all sizes and heavier sleepers who love memory foam beds but experience problematic sinkage on softer models. Most lightweight side sleepers will find the DreamCloud a bit too firm. But lightweight stomach sleepers may find this to be a perfect memory foam choice for them.

Overall, the Classic’s firmer feel makes the memory foam mattress generally more accessible to different body types and sleeping patterns than softer all-foam beds.

Average-weight Tester – 5’4”, 175 lbs

Sosha Lewis, our average-weight tester, tried out all sleeping positions on the DreamCloud Classic. When sleeping up on the bed’s edges, she was impressed, saying, “There was very little sinkage and I felt secure in all positions.” Sosha is primarily a side sleeper, and reported after testing her go-to sleeping position, “I loved this for side sleeping.”

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam In-Depth Test Results

Pressure Relief

Pressure Relief – 4.5

I determined quality pressure relief by how well a mattress can ease inflammation and tension in your joints, rather than create it. Sleeping on a mattress without quality pressure relief can result in restless sleep or dreadful mornings of aches and pains. That’s why understanding the quality of pressure relief offered by a bed is critical when making our final judgments about its performance at Mattress Clarity.

A woman lays on her side on the DreamCloud Memory Foam mattress

Sosha Lewis, our average-weight tester and a certified sleep science coach, tried sleeping on the DreamCloud mattress in multiple sleeping positions to determine the quality of its pressure relief. First, she tried resting on her side and was quite pleased with her experience. “I really liked this for side sleeping—and I’m a side sleeper,” she said. “It gave an excellent balance of contouring and support. I felt like it was giving me a soft lil hug at my pressure points.”

She then tried resting on her back and was less impressed, saying, “I’m not as crazy about this mattress for the back. Even with a pillow, I felt like my shoulders were sinking in more than the rest of my body, making my legs feel elevated. The alignment was still fine, and it was comfortable enough.”

Sosha gave the DreamCloud Classic a perfect 5 when side sleeping, and a 4/5 for back sleeping. As she mentioned when describing her experience, she is primarily a side sleeper, which I believe may have affected her comfort when resting on her back. However, experiencing proper spinal support is a key element of truly determining quality pressure relief, which in part resulted in her 4/5 score for back sleeping despite any personal discomfort.

Edge Support

Edge Support – 4.5

Quality edge support is determined by how sturdy a bed’s edges are, particularly when sleeping or sitting on them. I always try to stress how important edge support is when seeking a mattress for your home, especially for people with mobility issues who struggle to get in and out of bed. Edge support could also be deemed essential for couples sharing the bed, as it reflects whether you can expect consistent support across the entire bed and have the space to spread out instead of being trapped in the center. Just as importantly, edge support is a sign of a bed’s durability and its potential lifespan.

To test the DreamCloud Classic’s edge support, our tester Sosha sat and rested on the bed’s edges in a variety of sleeping positions. When sitting on the edge of the DreamCloud Classic, she experienced some slight sinkage, but overall felt secure and found it easy to get on and off the bed.

A woman sits on the edge of the DreamCloud Memory Foam mattress

Sosha described sitting on the bed’s edge. “This was a weird one,” she said. “I didn’t like how I sank into it. I could feel the slats and frame, but I didn’t feel insecure. I was able to get up and down easily.” She gave sitting on the bed’s edges a 4 out of 5, which means people with mobility issues shouldn’t have any big issues getting in and out of bed on the DreamCloud mattress. However, the sinkage she referenced may not make it ideal for watching TV or spending a lot of time sitting on the side of the bed.

When she rested on the bed’s edges in different sleeping positions, Sosha said she was quite pleased. She gave the Classic a 5/5 for the test, and simply said, “All good here. Very little sinkage and I felt secure in all positions.” Notably, Sosha is primarily a side sleeper and found the support she needed on the bed’s edges when testing out her preferred position. She described the side-sleeping edge support test by saying, “Loved this for side sleeping. Perfect balance. Soft and supportive.”

We also test edge support by placing weight plates along the very edge of the bed and measuring how much the side dips. In this test, the DreamCloud Memory Foam also impressed us, contributing to its overall edge support score of 4.5/5.

Cooling

Cooling – 4

“Hot sleepers” are those who struggle to sleep because they feel too warm or clammy to get comfortable at night. According to Dr. Raj Dasgupta, “When your body lies down, it should cool down, and when you wake up, your body should warm up.” Hence, a mattress that dissipates body heat and helps prevent sweating should encourage your body to fall asleep more easily.

While many hot sleepers are wary of all-foam mattresses due to the lack of breathable innerspring layers promoting airflow, the DreamCloud mattress claims to have multiple cooling features incorporated in its construction to create a more neutral sleep-friendly temperature at the bed’s core. We put these claims to the test, using both personal experience and a thermal gun to determine the true quality of the bed’s cooling abilities.

Temperature gun reading on the DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress

First, our tester, Sosha Lewis, rested on the mattress to see if she could feel a temperature increase from her body heat. “This is a very temperature-neutral mattress,” she said. “The quilted cover didn’t feel noticeably cool nor hot. When I was lying on it, I definitely didn’t heat up, but it also didn’t cool me down.” Despite Sosha finding that the DreamCloud mattress had a neutral temperature that could help many with sleep, hot sleepers may still want to consider a hybrid design model that is cool to the touch or better specializes in cooling.

To back up her subjective take on the mattress’s cooling, Sosha used a thermal gun to measure the bed’s temperature change before and after resting on it for seven minutes. To grade this test, we consider a temperature increase of less than 10 degrees Fahrenheit to be great cooling, between 10 and 15 degrees to be average, and more than 15 degrees to be unpleasant. The bed’s resting surface temperature was 72.5 degrees before Sosha lay on it; when she measured it again with the thermal gun, it had increased to 78.3 degrees. This 5.8-degree increase is well below average, so we gave the bed a 4/5 for this test.

Between her objective evaluation with the thermal gun and personal experience, Sosha gave the DreamCloud Classic a 4/5 for temperature regulation and cooling. Overall, I’d say this mattress is a great all-foam choice for hot sleepers and couples looking to share the bed rather than their body heat.

Motion Isolation

Motion Isolation – 4

Motion isolation refers to how well a bed can prevent the effects of one sleeper’s movement from rippling across to the other side of the mattress. This is particularly important for couples who share a bed, especially if one person moves around in their sleep and wakes the other person up throughout the night. Memory foam tends to help absorb motion, so given that the DreamCloud Classic is an all-foam bed, we weren’t surprised by its respectable 4/5 score in this category.

A woman tests motion isolation on the DreamCloud Memory Foam mattress with a glass of water

We did two tests to get these results. First off, we conducted a ripple test, in which we placed a cup of water on the bed and had a tester move in and out of the bed (to replicate when one person wakes up before the other) and lie down next to the cup to observe how much the water moved in response. “The water definitely noticeably moved, but it was more when I sat down aggressively,” Sosha said. “When I sat down like a normal human, you could see the water tilt from side to side, but it wasn’t a big deal.”

She also noted that the glass may have been unstable because the bed is tufted, and said, “Unless you have someone who plops into bed, it shouldn’t be a big deal.” Then Sosha lay on the bed, and changed sleeping positions next to the glass of water. She noticed minimal motion transfer and said plainly, “None of it was concerning.” She gave the bed a 4/5 for both tests.

Sosha then climbed into bed next to our tester Riley Otis and moved around to see if she or Riley were disturbed by each other’s movements. “I could definitely feel Riley get in and out of bed, but it wasn’t anything that would keep me from sharing this bed with someone, and I am a light sleeper,” she said. She scored this test a 4/5 as well.

Response

Response – 4

We judge a bed’s responsiveness by how quickly and easily it returns to its original shape when you remove weight from it. Responsiveness helps highlight if restless or combination sleepers can expect consistent support without problematic sinkage while changing positions during the night. Furthermore, couples should consider the importance of responsiveness when choosing a bed together, as a responsive bed with quality bounce should enable easier movement on the bed or a more sex-friendly surface to work with.

A woman sits at the bottom of the DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress

To determine the quality of the DreamCloud mattress’s responsiveness, our tester Sosha conducted a switch test. Here, Sosha moves around the bed in different sleeping positions and judges how easy it is to do so while still receiving consistent support wherever she ends up on the bed. “It was easy to turn over, and I definitely didn’t feel stuck down in it,” Sosha said. “It doesn’t provide a lot of bounce by any means, but if you are a combination sleeper or sexually active and like memory foam, I think this will be a good fit for you.” She ended up giving the Classic a 4/5 for the test.

The DreamCloud Classic demonstrated great responsiveness, especially for an all-foam bed (latex and innerspring mattresses tend to offer the best responsiveness). Still, this was likely in part due to it being much firmer than other all-foam beds on our firmness scale, which is great for couples but may mean it won’t have the same cradle-like cushioning and contouring one would expect from the typical memory foam bed.

Sinkage: Light

Sinkage refers to the depth a person sinks into a mattress when resting on it. Some sinkage is associated with the cloud-like embrace of cushioning memory foam and is considered an appealing comfort offered by all-foam beds. However, sinkage can also be problematic. For example, if someone dips too much into a bed, it can compromise spinal alignment and lower back support.

A kettlebell is used to measure sinkage on the DreamCloud Memory Foam mattress

Despite being an all-foam bed, the DreamCloud Classic had light sinkage. Only when she was firmly seated on the bed’s edges did our tester Sosha notice any real sinkage on the mattress. Otherwise, the DreamCloud offered firm, unflagging support all the way to the far reaches of the bed.

It’s worth noting that our tester Sosha is an average-weight sleeper (between 130 and 230 pounds), so this experience will vary. For instance, heavier sleepers may experience some problematic sinkage depending on their weight, and lightweight sleepers may feel they don’t sink enough into the DreamCloud Classic and may prefer a medium-firm or softer all-foam mattress.

Bounce: Moderate

Bounce correlates to how easily you can move around on a bed’s surface while still experiencing responsive support. Bouncy beds like latex and some hybrid mattresses tend to offer the best bounce, with memory foam beds usually offering the least.

The DreamCloud Classic received an overall 4/5 for its responsiveness, which is quite good for an all-foam bed and relevant to the amount of bounce one should expect. However, despite our tester Sosha saying, “It doesn’t provide a lot of bounce by any means,” I judged the Classic’s responsiveness and lack of sinkage as a memory foam mattress when determining the level of bounce you should expect. If this were a latex mattress or even a hybrid design, I would consider it to have “light bounce,” but for fans of memory foam beds, you can expect moderate bounce when compared to beds with a similar construction.

Noise

Noise – 5

Loud mattresses that creak when you move around on them tend to be innerspring mattresses with loud or old coils inside them that respond to your movements. One benefit of all-foam mattresses is that they are very quiet and remain so over the long term.

Our tester Sosha Lewis evaluated the DreamCloud Classic’s noise performance and gave the bed a perfect 5/5 for it. When asked how noisy it was when she tested it, she simply said, “It was like a butterfly whisper—no noise at all.”

Restless sleepers who wake themselves up at night due to a creaky mattress should take notice of these results. Moreover, couples should also appreciate the lack of noise the DreamCloud Classic makes, particularly as it relates to more intimate use of the bed.

Sex

Sex – 4.5

A bed with quality responsiveness, edge support, and cooling should mean you have a bed that is easy to move around on, supportive when doing so across the entirety of the bed, and doesn’t make you or your partner uncomfortably hot. Given this, I gave the DreamCloud Classic a 4.17 in the sex category by combining the scores of cooling (4/5), responsiveness (4/5), and edge support (4.5/5).

Furthermore, while many memory foam beds may have couples feeling stuck in place, the DreamCloud mattress’s 7.5/10 firmness likely makes it one of the exceptions. You’ll feel “on top” of this bed and ready to move around rather than trapped in one spot.

Adjustable Base Compatibility

Adjustable Base Compatibility – 3

According to DreamCloud, the Classic Memory Foam should be compatible with most adjustable bases and bed frames. However, Sosha Lewis judged the bed’s compatibility with an adjustable base and found decent but not great results.

“It was OK—the cover scrunched up, and I kept trying to pull it down,” she said of the mattress. “However, I’ll admit I don’t normally like adjustable bases, so others may like this more than me.” In the end, she gave the Classic a 3/5 for her experience using it on an adjustable base.

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Customer Experience Scores

Below, I explain the warranty, trial, and customer experience you should expect when purchasing a DreamCloud mattress like the Classic.

Trial Period

Trial Period – 5

The DreamCloud Classic includes a 365-night trial with your purchase, which is typically the most generous trial period offered by mattress companies and why we gave the trial a 5/5 score. This means you can test out a new mattress for a full year before deciding whether it’s right for you.

Warranty

Warranty – 5

The DreamCloud Classic offers a “forever warranty” according to their website, which is another way of saying lifetime warranty. This is also as good as it gets, and we gave the warranty a 5/5. However, it’s worth noting that after 10 years, DreamCloud may charge some shipping fees as part of the return policy, and the warranty does not cover “damage from misuse, abuse, or environmental factors,” according to its website.

Unboxing and Moving

Unboxing and Moving – 5

Our tester Sosha unboxed and moved the DreamCloud Classic and gave it a 5/5 for the experience. When reviewing her experience with it, she said, “I was able to completely unbox this and put it on the frame by myself. It was one of the easier ones I’ve done as far as getting it out of the plastic wrap. It was fairly light, but if you have someone handy, I’d definitely grab them.”

Readiness After Unboxing

Readiness After Unboxing – 5
Front view of the DreamCloud Memory Foam mattress

According to our tester Sosha, the DreamCloud Classic “took a couple of hours to fully inflate.” But she was still able to move the mattress immediately after unboxing, and gave the mattress a 5/5 for readiness on arrival.

Off-Gassing

Off-Gassing – 5

When our tester Sosha unboxed the DreamCloud Classic, she said, “There was no off-gassing smell.” The lack of off-gassing was likely in part due to the mattress using less toxic, high-quality CertiPUR-US certified foam materials in its construction. Sosha gave the bed a 5/5 for this category.

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Construction

Below, I’ll break down the materials that went into the construction of the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam bed.

Mattress Height and Weight

A woman measures sinkage on the DreamCloud Memory Foam Mattress

The DreamCloud Classic is 12 inches tall, which is about average for a mattress with this type of construction. The twin-size model weighs 50 pounds, the queen size weighs 78 pounds, the king size weighs 101 pounds, and the California king weighs 146 pounds.

Materials

The DreamCloud Classic is designed in the USA but assembled overseas. The Classic uses a cashmere-blend cover made with quilted cooling fibers blended with a cooling comfort foam. The rest of the mattress is made entirely of CertiPUR-US certified foam materials. This certification means DreamCloud uses more eco-friendly foam resources that are free from heavy metals such as lead and have low Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) emissions.  Additionally, the mattress uses a combination of natural wool and silica-based fibers as an alternative to more toxic flame retardants such as fiberglass.

Layers

The DreamCloud Classic has a five-layer design. On top is a “Cloudquilt” quilted cover that blends cooling fibers and gel-infused foam to create a breathable and soft surface. Underneath this cover is a contouring memory foam layer that helps generate pressure relief and comfort. Then there is another responsive foam layer that is thicker but designed to optimize spinal support without compromising comfort. Then there is a high-density foam support layer to help isolate motion and create a durable base for the upper layers. Finally, the mattress is encased in a durable, fiberglass-free protective cover and supported by a base that helps prevent the bed from moving while reinforcing general stability.

How to Try and Buy the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam Mattress

The DreamCloud Classic is most easily available on the company’s official website or Amazon. However, for in-person shopping, its Classic Memory Foam mattress is also available at more than 4,000 stores across the USA. You can find an easy-to-use store locator on DreamCloud’s official website.

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam vs. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud

A man sleeps on his side on the Tempur-Cloud

The Tempur-Cloud is also an all-foam mattress, but it has one less layer and is two inches shorter than the DreamCloud Classic. The Tempur-Cloud is also slightly less firm (6.5/10) than the Classic (7.5/10), which may make it more accessible to different types of sleepers. Like the DreamCloud, the Tempur-Cloud is also available in a hybrid mattress option that includes a breathable coiled layer, but at an additional fee.

The two mattresses have similar cooling features and a luxury-grade foam construction. However, the DreamCloud Classic comes with a lifetime warranty, while the Tempur-Cloud only offers a 10-year warranty. Additionally, the DreamCloud Classic is significantly more affordable than the Tempur-Cloud ($1,999 for a queen), making it a better choice for shoppers on a budget.

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam vs. Casper Original

A man sits near the edge of the bed.

The Casper Original is also an all-foam mattress that is slightly firmer than the industry average of medium-firm (6.5/10), with a firmness rating of 7/10. The Casper Original was found to be a bit less efficient at cooling than the DreamCloud Classic, only receiving a 3.5 out of 5 in the category. Our testers found both mattresses to work great for couples and seniors with mobility issues, but the Casper Original comes at a higher cost ($1,295 for a queen).

Our testers also found more off-gassing from the Casper Original than the DreamCloud Classic when unboxing it, despite both mattresses using exclusively CertiPUR-US certified foams. What really stood out is that despite Casper’s higher price, it only offers a 10-year warranty and 100-night trial compared to the DreamCloud Classic’s 365-night trial and lifetime warranty.

DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam vs. Emma Hybrid Comfort

A man sleeps on his back on the Emma Hybrid Comfort

The Emma Hybrid Comfort uses pocketed coils in addition to foam materials in its construction. Notably, the Emma Hybrid has an 8/10 firmness, which may make it a better option for heavier sleepers and stomach sleepers in particular. Despite the different construction type, the Emma Hybrid had the same scores as the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam in cooling (4/5) and edge support (4.5/5), and shared the 4.3/5 overall score.

The Emma Hybrid also offers a 365-night sleep trial but only a 10-year warranty, unlike the DreamCloud Classic’s lifetime warranty. The coils and firmness definitely make the Emma a potentially better pick for heavier sleepers and couples. Still, it didn’t outperform the Classic when our testers evaluated it to rationalize its higher price tag ($1,599 for a queen before any discounts).

DreamCloud Classis Memory Foam Mattress FAQs

How long will a DreamCloud mattress last?

There isn’t an objective answer here, as lifespan will vary depending on use. But I would say you can likely expect at least seven years of quality use on the DreamCloud Classic Memory Foam. Regardless, DreamCloud’s lifetime warranty should reflect the company’s strong confidence in the durability of its Classic mattress.
