Sleeping With The Sleep Number Blanket

When I first unboxed this weighted blanket, I immediately noticed its high quality fabrics and stitching. However, I did find this blanket a bit small. This model measures 48” x 70”, which is slightly smaller than a full sized bed. So, if you’re a tall person, this blanket might leave you out in the cold.

When it comes to weight distribution, this blanket does a great job. I felt the same comforting heaviness all around my body. While this blanket does regulate body temperature well, it may not work well for especially hot sleepers. I personally fall in this category, and I did feel a bit toasty after curling up inside this blanket.

How much does the Sleep Number Weighted Blanket Weigh?

When you’re shopping for a new weighted blanket, it’s important to consider how heavy it is. As a general rule of thumb, we recommend customers find a blanket that is 10% of their body weight (give or take a pound or two). That way, people are more likely to feel its soothing and relaxing effects.

The Sleep Number True Temp blanket comes in two weight options – 12lbs and 20lbs. If you weigh more than 200lbs, you may want to find something heavier such as the Purple Gravity weighted blanket.

Sleep Number Weighted Blanket Feeling

The outer blanket feels a lot like a quilted sleeping bag. It’s soft and slick, and it doesn’t easily overheat. The interior blanket feels heavy and malleable, thanks to the glass beads inside it. When I wrapped it around me, I felt like I was enveloped in a cozy hug.

Sleep Number Weighted Blanket Performance

We know this blanket features Sleep Number’s impressive technology, but does it actually work? Keep reading to find out!

Sleeping Hot or Cold

The True Temp blanket is all about regulating body temperature. The outer shell feels cool and slick, while the interior blanket creates that classic soothing feeling.

As a hot sleeper, I felt a little stuffy under the blanket. However, during the cold winter months, most people should not feel like they’re overheating.

Care instructions

It’s super easy to take care of this weighted blanket. The outer shell is completely machine washable. For the best results, wash it separately in cold water with mild detergent and tumble dry on low heat.

The interior blanket cannot be placed in the washing machine. If you accidentally spill something on it, make sure to spot clean it immediately.

Allergies

The Sleep Number True Temp blanket is made mostly from cotton and polyester. We do not expect it to trigger allergies, but if you’re especially sensitive, we recommend looking elsewhere.

Sleep Number Weighted Blanket Construction

The Sleep Number weighted blanket has two layers. On the outside, you’ll find the Quilted True Temp removable cover. This material features the company’s 37.5 active particle technology, which attracts heat and removes moisture. The result? A blanket that won’t leave you feeling hot and sweaty.

Sleep Number weighted blanket construction

The inner blanket has a no-shift channel design, so it should stay put while you cuddle up with it. This also helps the blanket maintain an even weight distribution throughout. To prevent the inner blanket from shifting around, Sleep Number added small ties in the corners.

The inner blanket contains hundreds of small glass beads, which helps give the blanket its weight. When it’s wrapped around your body, you should notice its relaxing effects.

How Does the Sleep Number Weighted Blanket Compare To Others?

It’s always smart to do your research! So let’s see how the True Temp blanket compares to other popular options on the market, the Casper and the Bearaby.

Sleep Number Vs Casper

These two weighted blankets have many similarities. They’re both field with glass beads, and they’re great sizes for people who want to relax on the couch.

The Casper, however, offers three different weight options – 10lbs, 15lbs, and 20lbs. Sleep Number only sells 12lb and 20lb blankets.

Casper Weighted Blanket Construction And Gridding

Even though both options work well for hot sleepers, the Sleep Number blanket features better cooling technology. If you’re especially interested in a product that regulates body temperature, consider getting the True Temp blanket. Thanks to its high tech features, though, the Sleep Number blanket costs a bit more.

Who Should Get the Sleep Number

  • People who want an especially cooling weighted blanket
  • Those who don’t want the inner blankets to shift around

Who Should Get the Casper

  • People on a budget
  • Those who want more weight options

Sleep Number Vs Bearaby

When it comes to construction, these two blankets are vastly different. Because the Bearaby napper is made from knitted organic cotton, it creates a massaging effect as you curl up inside it. The Sleep Number blanket is built like a duvet cover, with a washable outer layer and a heavy interior.

The Bearaby comes in four different weight options – 10lbs, 15 lbs, 20lbs, and 25lbs. This means it also works for a wide variety of body types.

Bearaby Weighted Blanket Airflow

Both options work well for hot sleepers. Sleep Number’s 37.5 active particle technology helps regulate body temperature, and the Bearaby’s knitted design creates plenty of room for airflow.

Both blankets sell for the same price, so your final choice ultimately boils down to your design and weight preference.

Who Should Get the Sleep Number

  • People who prefer traditional weighted blankets
  • Average weight sleepers

Who Should Get the Bearaby

  • People who prefer a knitted cotton blanket
  • Heavier people
