Avocado Eco Adjustable Base Video Review
You really have to see the Avocado Eco Adjustable Base in action. Our in-depth video review shows exactly how this base works.
How Does The Avocado Eco Adjustable Base Work?
No two adjustable bases are the same. Let’s take a closer look at Avocado’s design and features.
Starting from the top and working our way down, the Avocado features a sturdy platform surrounded by organic cotton canvas.
There are metal cages at the two bottom corners of the Avocado. These keep your mattress from sliding off or shifting when you adjust the bed.
Below that, you’ll find a black steel frame that is sturdy and durable. The wiring and hydraulic pumps can be found beneath the frame.
All of these materials rest on rubberwood legs. You can unscrew the middle of each leg to make the base shorter or to place the base inside a bed frame.
As is the case with the best adjustable bases, the Avocado comes with a remote control. The user-friendly remote allows you to control the incline of the head and foot areas of the bed.
You can also use the remote control to do the following:
- Standard Settings: Using the remote, you can raise the head and foot areas of the bed. Press the “Flat” button to take the bed back to its resting position.
- Zero Gravity: Pressing this button on the remote raises the head and feet to create a weightless feeling. This is meant to relieve pressure on the body and improve circulation.
- Anti-Snore: This preset raises the head slightly to decrease pressure on the airway, reducing snoring.
- Memory: Two memory functions allow you to save your favorite settings. Press the button, and the base will return to your favorite position.
- Massage: The Avocado features massage settings for the head and foot of the bed. You can choose between low, medium, and high for both the head and foot.
The Avocado Eco Adjustable Base features a few other settings you don’t find with all adjustable bases.
- USB Ports: There are two USB ports underneath the steel frame. You can plug in phone or laptop chargers for easy access.
- Lights: The remote features a small flashlight to help you find your way around at night. There are also lights embedded in the bottom of the bed. You can turn these to illuminate the area around your bed.
Avocado Eco Adjustable Base Mattress Compatability
When you’re shopping for a new adjustable bed, you want to make sure it will work with your mattress. To test out the Eco Adjustable Base, I paired it with the Avocado Green Mattress. First off, the queen-size mattress fit the base well, wedging perfectly inside the corner cages. When I raised the head and foot of the bed, the mattress did not shift whatsoever.
The Avocado Green is a thick mattress that contains high-density latex foam and high-grade coils. However, the base had no real issues bending the mattress into the different positions. When I laid on the mattress and adjusted the bed, the mattress did not raise off the base and stayed flush. Overall, the Avocado base is a good match for the Avocado mattress!
Setting Up The Avocado Eco Adjustable Base
I’m not too handy with tools. If you’re like me, and an IKEA bookshelf gives you a headache, the Avocado Eco Adjustable Base should be right up your alley. It is extremely easy to set up, but I suggest you ask a friend for help. The base is quite heavy, and you don’t want to strain yourself!
My coworker, Tony, helped me drag the box into my bedroom, and we quickly took out the platform and frame. We peeled off the plastic protecting the canvas platform, screwed on the legs, and then flipped the base over. Then, I simply added the corner cages, plugged in the power pack, and the base was ready to use.

Avocado Eco Adjustable Base Performance
I spent a good deal of time with the Avocado Adjustable Base, testing it out, and trying out all of its features. Let’s see how the base worked for me.
While this is a simpler, more streamlined adjustable base, it boasts some nice materials. I am especially impressed by the organic cotton canvas platform. This gives the Avocado Eco Adjustable Base a modern design that looks good without a bed frame or foundation. The wooden legs also look luxurious, unlike the plastic legs you find with some other adjustable bases.
When I tested the Avocado base, it offered some excellent adjustability. I was able to raise the head to nearly a 90-degree angle. It was the perfect position for binge-watching TV.
The foot of the bed also raised to almost a 40-degree angle. Some adjustable bases do not rise quite so far. If you need to incline your feet or legs for medical reasons, the Avocado could do the trick.
RELATED: Best Adjustable Bed Positions
In my experience, the Avocado’s remote control was easy to use. I could raise the different parts of the bed and use all the extra settings with no real confusion. I also appreciate the added flashlight. I’m prone to tripping on my way to the bathroom, so this came in handy!
Some adjustable bases are designed with additional wall-hugging features. The top of the base will move as the head raises. This keeps you close to the wall, no matter what position the bed is in.
The Avocado Eco did not feature advanced wall hugging. When I raised the head, I felt myself moving away from the wall. This isn’t necessarily a negative for everyone, however.
Noise can be an issue with adjustable bases. When you adjust the bed, the motors can squeak and emit mechanical sounds. These sounds can be generally annoying and may disrupt your sleep.
Thankfully, the Avocado was not a very noisy adjustable base. It did make some sounds, but it is quieter than other bases I have reviewed. If you want a bed for couples, this could be a good pick.
The Avocado’s Zero-Gravity setting did what it was designed to do. I wouldn’t say that I felt necessarily weightless, but I felt less pressure on my lower back and, generally, I was more comfortable.
When I pushed the Anti-Snore button, the bed raised my head only slightly. It did relieve pressure on my airway, but I still snored a bit. Keep in mind that I suffer from sleep apnea. If you do not have major issues with snoring, the Avocado Adjustable Base could work better for you than it did for me.
I’m always a fan of an adjustable base with massage features. It’s a great way to relax after a long day.
The Avocado’s massage feature wasn’t the best I have experienced, but it was still soothing. Part of the issue might have been the thicker Avocado mattress I was using. It stopped some of the vibrations from passing through. If you are going to use a thinner foam mattress, you could feel more of the massaging vibrations.
Is the Avocado Adjustable Base good?
The Avocado is indeed a good adjustable base, but it won’t work for everyone. If you are looking for an affordable base that is easy to set up and has a sleek design, the Avocado will be a great choice. If you want something more deluxe with a good sleep trial and return policy, you may want to look elsewhere.
How long will the Avocado Adjustable Base last?
Based on its construction, the Avocado base should last for at least 10 to 15 years. The steel frame is durable and should stand up to years of use. If you have any issues with the base, the brand does offer a 20-year warranty.
How do you use the Avocado Adjustable Base?
The Avocado Adjustable Base is very easy to use. It comes with a user-friendly remote that allows you to raise and lower both the head and foot of the mattress. It also features extra presets like Zero-Gravity and Anti-Snore.
