Emylee’s Take

Because the Tuft & Needle body pillow is commonly used during pregnancy, we reached out to Emylee Barjuca for her input. Barjuca, who was pregnant at the time of testing, slept with the body pillow and tested its firmness, feel, and adjustability. Here’s what she had to say:

If I could highlight one main feature of this pillow, I’d say it’s phenomenal with hip support and alignment! With a generous 8” loft, I can comfortably get the rest I need and not wake up with hip or sciatica pain. Even after my baby comes, I’d happily use this body pillow for nightly support and comfort.

Personally, I only saw one minor downside to this pillow – you can’t use it for back and belly support at the same time. Since this body pillow isn’t curved or as malleable in shape, expectant women might have to choose which area needs the most support instead of total body coverage.

Tuft & Needle Body Pillow Firmness and Feel

Now, let’s look into two of the most important elements: firmness and feel!

How Firm is Tuft & Needle Body Pillow?

The Tuft & Needle body pillow feels light and fluffy, so it’s not as supportive as other body pillows on the market. When you rest your head on top of it, the down alternative filling will sink around you. This is great for folks who want something soft to cuddle with, but it may not work well for side sleepers who want to use it as a head pillow.

Sleeping on Tuft & Needle Body Pillow

The Tuft & Needle Body pillow works well for side sleepers with hip or knee pain. Simply place the pillow between your knees, and joint pain should dissipate. Back sleepers can also place the pillow under their knees for additional pressure relief and comfort.

The Tuft & Needle body pillow isn’t quite long enough to wrap around your entire body, but it works well for people who want something to hug during the night. The fluffy pillow feels particularly comforting for some people, making it easier to drift off to sleep.

What does the Tuft & Needle Body Pillow Feel Like?

The Tuft & Needle body pillow feels as fluffy and luxurious as down feathers, but it’s made with budget-friendly and animal-free down alternative fibers. It has a lot of room for airflow, so it shouldn’t trap body heat during the night.

Tuft & Needle Body Pillow Construction

To really understand the ins and outs of this pillow, we’ll need to look at its construction.

Cover

The outer shell is made from 100% Supima cotton, which feels soft and luxurious. You also have the option to purchase a percale body pillow cover, which pairs well with Tuft & Needle percale sheets.

Core

Inside the shell are tiny pieces of high-quality polyester, which mimic the feeling of down feathers.

Weight

The Tuft & Needle body pillow weighs 1 lb.

Height/Loft

The pillow is 8” tall, but because of the fluffy filling, it sinks when pressure is applied. It may not work well as a head pillow because it won’t offer the necessary neck support.
