DreamCloud is a well-known name in the mattress space, with four popular mattresses available in both memory foam and hybrid models. The Luxe Hybrid is one of its top-tier options, as a seven-layer mattress with zoned support, cooling phase-change material, and the brand’s signature Euro top. In this DreamCloud mattress review, we carefully and thoroughly evaluated the Luxe Hybrid to determine what kind of sleepers might find their dreamiest nights on it.
Our team of sleep experts has put more than 500 mattresses and 150 sleep products through the wringer to pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses for different types of sleepers. We’re proud to report that in the seven years we’ve been testing, our reviews have helped more than 35,000 people find their next best mattress. In other words, we have both the experience and the technical know-how to offer useful, actionable insights to new mattress shoppers. For this review, we also leaned on the expertise of our chief medical advisor Dr. Raj Dasgupta, MD, FACP, FCCP, FAASM.
During testing, our experts were wowed by the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid’s pressure relief in both back- and side-sleeping positions, outstanding motion isolation, and lightning-fast response time. The mattress earned full marks for these categories, making it a great fit for combination sleepers, folks who share the bed with a partner or pet, and fans of a plush, contouring feel.
The DreamCloud Luxe is one of the brand’s softest and swankiest beds, with a 14-inch height and enough cushion to satisfy sensitive side sleepers. It earned perfect scores in several categories during our tests, delighting us with its combined responsiveness and motion isolation. However, it fell a little short when it came to cooling and edge support.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating
Here at Mattress Clarity, our medically approved testing methodology is intentionally comprehensive. We address everything from construction to performance to customer service policies for the most well-rounded take possible. The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid fared quite well, with top marks across most of our categories. That earned it an overall score of 4.5 stars out of 5.
The Luxe Hybrid especially pulled high marks for pressure relief and motion isolation, with perfect scores of 5/5 stars. That makes it a great option for people who want a plush feel and who may wake up easily when they sense movement from someone who shares their bed. The only place it fell quite short during testing was in its cooling ability. If overheating at night is typical for you, we recommend finding a more breathable, cooling mattress for hot sleepers.

I Recommend the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid For…
- Side and back sleepers – The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid has exceptional pressure relief and an ideal balance of cushioning and support, so it’s a great match for these sleepers, especially those who prefer a plush feel.
- Couples – Between its responsiveness and motion isolation, the mattress should accommodate the needs of couples nicely.
- Combination sleepers – Despite the fluffy Euro top, the Luxe Hybrid has plenty of spring so you can easily change positions.

I Don’t Recommend the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid For…
- Hot sleepers – Hybrid mattresses tend to perform better than memory foam mattresses in this category, but our objective test found that the Luxe Hybrid really held onto body heat.
- Sleepers over 230 pounds – Sleepers in this weight category will likely find this mattress feels too soft to ensure enough support, especially if they sleep on their stomachs.
- Those with severe mobility issues. While the Luxe Hybrid is fine for the average sleeper, those who really struggle to get in and out of bed may find the sinkage along the edge a little too severe.
How Firm Is the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress?

Firmness is a description of how a mattress feels when you lie down on it. Because everyone interprets that differently depending on factors like body type, body weight, and preferred sleeping position, firmness level is subjective. That’s why we use a firmness scale based on 10, with 1 indicating soft and 10 indicating a firm mattress. The industry standard for most mattresses is medium-firm, which is a 6.5 on the scale.
That’s about where the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid mattress came in when Mattress Clarity tester Kate Gorman evaluated the bed on her side and stomach. She found it was a touch softer on her side. That turned out to be ideal—Kate says the Luxe Hybrid is easily one of the most comfortable mattresses she’s ever tested.

How Does the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Feel for Different Body Types and Sleeping Positions?

We think the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is a great fit for back, side and stomach sleepers in light and medium-weight categories. Those over 230 pounds who sleep on their backs might find the mattress supportive enough, but we wouldn’t recommend it for side or stomach sleepers in this weight group. These folks are likely to find they sink too deeply through the support layer to properly support a straight spine.
Sleeper Weight | Side Sleepers | Back Sleepers | Stomach Sleepers |
Light (under 130 lbs) | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent |
Average (130-230 lbs) | Excellent | Excellent | Excellent |
Heavy (over 230 lbs) | Unpleasant | Good | Unpleasant |
Average-Weight Tester – 5’4”, 175 lbs
“Wow! I love this bed! It is like the world’s best hug. You sink but you’re simultaneously supported and both are spot on. I felt no pressure and my hips and shoulders were aligned.” – Sosha Lewis, Certified Sleep Science Coach
Lightweight Tester – 5’5”, 122 lbs
“I love this mattress on my side. It felt so good on my shoulders and upper back. I would sink down but still felt lifted and supported. As someone with old shoulder injuries, it’s hard to find a mattress where I can sleep comfortably all night on my side without slight aches, and I think this is great!” – Kate Gorman
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid In-Depth Test Results
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is an important feature in a mattress. A mattress that eases pressure on the body’s joints helps keep discomfort and pain in these areas at bay, particularly around the hips, shoulders, and low back, says Dr. Raj Dasgupta. We assessed the Luxe Hybrid’s pressure relief by using a lightweight and an average-weight tester, both of whom spent time on the mattress in the side- and back-sleeping position. They paid close attention to whether the mattress eased or contributed to pressure point pain in these positions. Overall, the Luxe Hybrid scored an impressive 5/5 stars.
Lightweight tester Kate Gorman, who weighs less than 130 pounds, was incredibly comfortable on her side. She says she sank in just enough for comfort around the hips and shoulders, but still felt lifted and supported across her spine. Kate has old shoulder injuries and has a difficult time finding a mattress that can keep her comfortable on her side, but this one did the trick. Sosha Lewis, our average-weight tester, had a similar experience. She described it as “the world’s best hug,” thanks to its balance of sinkage and support. She says she felt no pressure at all and comfortable alignment.

On their backs, our testers experienced more of the same. Kated noted that her backside sank a little more deeply into the comfort layer than it does on other mattresses, but that it felt comfortable on her lower back. “Usually, this position feels too flat, but the sinkage really helped a lot,” she explained. The cushy Euro top foam also filled her lumbar zone well for even more comfortable support. Sosha was equally impressed. “Back sleeping on this bed is like a serotonin rush,” she said. For both positions, both testers scored the mattress 5 stars.
We anticipate that back sleepers over 230 pounds will find enough support on the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid, but side sleepers likely will not. They’ll sink too deeply into the plush pillow top, negating its pressure-relieving benefits and bottoming out on the firmer layers below. That’s going to contribute to pain in the hips and shoulders.
Edge Support
If you routinely sit on the side of the bed to put on your socks and shoes, or you share your bed with a partner and need room to spread out, edge support should be of particular concern. A mattress with good edge support has a perimeter that’s just as sturdy as the center of the mattress, which means it won’t sag significantly beneath your weight when you sit or lie along the side. We recommend prioritizing support along the edge of the mattress if you’re an older adult or have any mobility concerns.
Generally speaking, hybrid mattresses tend to outperform their all-foam counterparts in this category. That’s simply because coils offer more stability than even the highest-density foam. Beds with plush tops and soft comfort layers can occasionally pose an issue for stable perimeter support, but the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid managed to strike a decent balance. Our tester Kate noted there was slight sinkage when she sat on the side of the bed, but noted that its high response time made it easy to stand up. While she had no need to use her hands to push to a standing position, that may not be the case for everyone. She gave the mattress 4/5 stars for this test.

Kate also evaluated the Luxe Hybrid by lying close to the edge of the mattress on her back, her side, and her stomach. She had the same assessment here—the edge support wasn’t phenomenal, but it wasn’t terrible either. “I was slightly worried about slipping off when I was switching from lying on my back to my side,” she said. She added that on her side, she felt more unstable than she did on her back and stomach. Kate gave the Luxe Hybrid the same score for this test, 4/5 stars.
The bed performed slightly worse during our third edge support test, during which we place weights right next to the edge of bed and see how much the side dips. Our testers gave the Luxe Hybrid an average of 3.3/5 for its performance here, which isn’t terrible, but isn’t above-average either. The end result of all these tests put together was a 3.6/5 edge support score.
Cooling
As part of the body’s thermoregulation process, it’s normal for temperatures to fluctuate while we sleep. Mattress materials and constructions can support or impede this process, especially if you’re prone to overheating at night. In general, hybrid mattresses tend to sleep cooler than all-foam beds, because the coil layer promotes airflow and minimizes heat retention. Less-breathable materials like memory foam have a reputation for trapping heat, which is why the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid includes phase-change material woven into the cover. Still, its cooling ability left much to be desired.

Our testers used a heat gun to take an initial read of the mattress before it was touched. After a tester spent seven minutes resting on it, we used the gun to take the surface temperature again. We consider a temperature increase of 6 to 7 degrees to indicate average cooling ability. Anything below that increase is good to exceptional, while anything above it is poor.
Mattress Clarity tester Kayla Godfrey found the Luxe Hybrid had an initial temperature of 71.8 degrees. After resting on it for seven minutes, the mattress had increased to 84.7 degrees. That’s a 12.9-degree jump, which is a disappointing result and earned the mattress 2.5/5 stars.
Interestingly, that score was at odds with how Kayla felt on the mattress. “I think this mattress feels great temperature-wise,” she said, adding that it had a cozy feeling due to its plush nature, which does make it retain body heat. Still, she said she wasn’t overly warm, even though she could feel the mattress rising to meet the temperature of her body. “I felt very comfortable and not hot,” she said.
Motion isolation describes how effectively a mattress keeps movement from traveling across the surface. Anyone who shares their bed with a partner of the two- or four-legged variety can appreciate good motion isolation—it minimizes the chances of being jolted awake if someone rolls over or hops onto the bed during the night. Dr. Raj Dasgupta also notes that better motion isolation is often found in higher-quality beds and speaks to both the density and construction of the surface foams. The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid earned 5/5 stars in this category—full marks!

To assess motion isolation, we placed a glass of water on one side of the mattress. A tester got in and out of bed and changed positions on the other side, observing the movement of the water. The more the water moves, the higher the motion transfer. According to our tester Sosha, “This mattress is fantastic at isolating motion. I feel like I could have jumped up and down on it and the water wouldn’t have moved.” She added that she was a little concerned that the glass would be unstable because of the tufted surface of the Euro top, but there were no issues. In fact, it’s the Euro top that so successfully dampened motion transfer, even when Sosha switched back and forth from her back and side right next to the glass. She gave the mattress 5 stars for both ripple tests.
In the second test, we replaced the glass of water with another tester. Kate lay on one side of the bed with her eyes closed while Sosha climbed on and off the bed and rolled around, switching sleeping positions. Once again, the Luxe Hybrid earned a top score. “Kate couldn’t feel me get in and out of bed,” said Sosha. “She felt some of my motion but it wasn’t like a wave of disturbance, just a gentle acknowledgment that someone was in bed with her.”
Response
Combination sleepers, sexual partners, and those who don’t like feeling “stuck” in their mattress need a bed with high responsiveness. It’s a reference to how quickly materials spring back into position after the release of pressure. That makes it easier to move around quickly and easily, and that’s exactly what we found on the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid. The mattress earned another 5/5 stars.
We tested this category by having a team member move around on the surface of the bed, switching to different sleep positions to assess the level of effort required. The Luxe Hybrid has a fluffy top, so it takes a bit of effort to move around. But our tester Sosha said it wasn’t difficult, and she would only worry about this for people with extreme mobility issues. She scored the Luxe Hybrid 5/5 stars.
Sinkage: Deep
Sinkage is a reference to how much a mattress sinks when it’s under pressure. If you like the sensation of sinking into your mattress, instead of resting on it, you’re a fan of deep sinkage. We placed a 44-pound kettlebell on the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid and then measured how far the layers sank. It has a plush Euro top, so we anticipated this number to be on the higher side. Our testers recorded 4 inches, confirming the Luxe Hybrid’s deep sinkage.

Bounce: High
A mattress with good bounce makes it easier to move around—it’s a component of responsiveness. The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid got full marks for its response time, so we figured its bounce score would be similar. From a ladder, we dropped a rubber ball on the surface of the mattress and used a yardstick to measure the height of its bounce. At 18.5 inches, we classified the Luxe Hybrid as high bounce.

Noise
If you’re a light sleeper, a creaky bed can be the difference between a good and bad night’s sleep. Fortunately, the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid makes no noise at all. Our tester Kayla pressed on its surface repeatedly to coax sound out of the coils or the foam to no avail. She gave the mattress 5/5 stars. But we’ll point out that since the mattress does have innerspring coils, there is a possibility of squeaks or creaks if you own the mattress long enough.
Sex
People in search of a good mattress for sex should look for materials and a construction that contribute to a high response time, strong edge support, and low noise. That ensures plenty of bounce for ease of movement, lots of room to spread out, and no distracting squeaks or foam-related hissing that could take you out of the moment.
The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid earned perfect scores for two of these three categories. It earned 5/5 stars for responsiveness and noise, but it fell somewhat short on edge support at 3.6 stars. That gave it an average of 4.5 stars for sex, which is a great score. We expect the Luxe Hybrid to be one of the best mattresses for sexual activities.
Adjustable Base Compatibility
Many mattresses are promoted for compatibility with adjustable bases, so we like to put that to the test. The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid is 14 inches tall, which tends to pose an issue with adjustable bed frames. But that wasn’t the case when Kayla tested it. “This mattress works extremely well with the base,” she said. “I was surprised how bendable it is with the thick depth.” She did point out that the cover bunched quite a bit, but said that it wasn’t uncomfortable.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Customer Experience Scores
Before you buy a mattress online, it’s a good idea to brush up on policies you might need. Here’s what to know about DreamCloud’s trial window and warranty.
Trial Period
DreamCloud offers a 365-night trial, which gives you a full year to assess its mattresses. Mattress manufacturers typically offer sleep trials that range from a month to a year, so this is definitely on the more generous end and worthy of a perfect 5/5 score.
Warranty
DreamCloud mattresses come with the brand’s trademarked Forever Warranty. If it becomes damaged from normal use during the entire time you own it (as the original owner), the brand will replace or repair it at no charge.
It’s a refreshing change from limited lifetime warranties, which tend to limit cost-free replacements and repairs after 10 years. The brand received another 5/5 here.
DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Construction
We’ve covered the Luxe Hybrid’s performance, so let’s take a closer look at the materials and construction that make it all possible.
Mattress Height & Weight

The Luxe Hybrid is tall at 14 inches. Depending on its size, it weighs between 59 and 151 pounds. A queen size is 103 pounds.
Materials
This is a hybrid mattress, so it includes both memory foam and innerspring coil layers. It has a 7-layer construction that includes a quilted memory foam Euro top with cooling polyethylene fibers, phase-change material, memory foam, zoned support foam, and individually wrapped coils that are reinforced around the edge. The foams in this mattress are CertiPUR-US certified for content, emissions, and durability.
Layers

The DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid has a plush Euro top with what the brand calls CloudQuilt+. It’s stitched with cooling fibers and quilted with memory foam. Just below is a temperature control layer infused with phase change material. Next is a contouring layer of memory foam that gives the mattress its impressive pressure relief.
The support in the Luxe Hybrid begins with a zoned foam layer that offers more support in the center third of the mattress, right where sleepers need it most. Then comes a layer of 8-inch pocketed coils, which means they’re individually wrapped for targeted support and motion isolation. They’re also reinforced around the edge to beef up support along the outside of the mattress. At the base of the mattress is a thin layer of dense foam for stability and structure. A protective bottom cover includes a fire retardant and handles. It also minimizes shifting.
How to Try and Buy the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid Mattress
DreamCloud mattresses, including the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid, the DreamCloud Classic Hybrid Mattress, the DreamCloud Hybrid Mattress, and the Luxe Hybrid, aren’t sold in stores. You can find them online on the DreamCloud website and retailers like Amazon. These bed-in-a-box mattresses are compressed, rolled, boxed, and shipped straight to your front door for easy setup. Plus, they ship for free to the contiguous United States. If you live in Alaska or Hawaii, shipping is $350. You can expect your mattress to arrive within 7 to 14 days.
Although you can’t trial a Luxe Hybrid mattress prior to buying it, DreamCloud offers one of the most generous sleep trials in the industry. You have a full 365 nights to test the mattress at home so you can decide if it truly meets your needs. Since it takes time for your body to adjust to a new bed, the brand asks that you give the mattress 30 days before initiating a return. And no, you don’t need to hang onto any packing materials in order to qualify for a return.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid vs. Nectar Luxe Hybrid
Both the Nectar Luxe Hybrid and the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid are 14 inches tall, with thick layers of cushioning foams for a plush, luxurious feel. But if cooling ability is top of your wish list, the Nectar is the better choice. During testing, we gave it 4/5 stars thanks to the cooling fibers woven into the cover and the coil layer.
Compared to the medium-firm feel of the DreamCloud, the Nectar is slightly softer—a 5.5/10 on our firmness scale. Both mattresses work well for back and side sleepers, but we’d advise stomach sleepers to consider the firmer DreamCloud. Neither mattress is a good choice for heavier sleepers north of 230 pounds.
As it happens, both mattress brands are owned by the same company (Resident Homes). That accounts for their many similarities, including the price tag. A queen size in both options is currently $1,399.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid vs. TEMPUR-Pedic Adapt
If you’re interested in the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid because you like the idea of pressure-relieving memory foam, it’s worth at least looking at the TEMPUR-Pedic Adapt. It’s available in a medium hybrid model, but the brand itself is practically synonymous with memory foam mattresses. During testing, we found it has a true medium-firm feel at 6.5/10 on the firmness scale.
At 11 inches, the Adapt mattress is quite a bit shorter than the DreamCloud. It has a shorter trial window (just 90 days compared to the 365-night trial offered at DreamCloud) and a shorter warranty (10 years as opposed to lifetime). It’s also more expensive. At time of writing, a queen-size TEMPUR-Adapt is $2,499.
The Adapt is marketed for its outstanding pressure relief, but we found the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid delivered on that front as well. If you’re on a budget, you won’t be compromising in this category with the Luxe Hybrid.

DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid vs. Leesa Legend Hybrid
The Leesa Legend Hybrid is another luxurious hybrid model. During testing, we found it a touch softer than the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid at 6/10 on the firmness scale. But it’s still highly responsive, with excellent edge support and much better cooling prowess than the DreamCloud.
We found the Leesa slightly cushioning, with more of a balanced feel compared to the deeper sinkage of the DreamCloud. If you prefer feeling more lifted on a mattress, this is a good fit. The DreamCloud has two inches on the Leesa thanks to its cushioning Euro top, which contributes to its plusher feel.
From a price perspective, the DreamCloud mattress is the more affordable option. A queen is $1,399, compared to $2,599 for a Leesa. However, discounts bring the latter’s cost down to $1,949.
