What Do the Quince Sateen Sheets Feel Like?

The Quince Organic Sateen sheets are made with, as the name suggests, a sateen weave. This is one of two weave styles used for sheets, and it gives them a soft, buttery smooth feeling. They didn’t feel too thick, and were nice and lightweight.

RELATED: Percale vs Sateen Sheets

Sateen sheets are great for people who love to drape soft, smooth sheets over their beds. Thread count plays a role here! When it comes to thread count, feel and breathability are really the two main factors it impacts.

Don’t be fooled into thinking high thread count sheets mean they’re a super luxe option. The Quince sheets have a thread count of 300, which is fairly standard for most cotton sheets.

They still feel very soft while being super breathable at the same time. Be sure to check out our “what’s the best thread count for sheets” article for more information!

Quince Sateen Sheets Materials

Quince uses 100% organic, long-staple cotton in the Organic Sateen sheet set. The cotton has been Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified. This certification means that the cotton has met rigorous standards, proving that it has been grown in a safe, sustainable, and responsible way.

This makes them an eco-friendly choice for those eco-conscious shoppers out there. The cotton has also been OEKO-TEX certified, meaning that the production process is free of harmful chemicals or pesticides.

What to Consider Before Buying

Buying sheets can be a bit of a guessing game whether or not you buy them in-store or online. Here are some key considerations to keep in mind with the Quince Organic Sateen sheets.

30-60 Min Nap

As a lover of soft, silky bamboo sheets, using cotton is always a different experience for me. With the Quince sheets, one of the first things I noticed about this was, even for a sateen set of sheets, they almost felt like a percale set of sheets.

A man rests on his back while using the Quince Sateen Sheets.

They were a bit crisp feeling right out of the packaging. But, after a quick wash, they felt very soft and much more similar to sateen sheets that I’m familiar with.

When I climbed into bed, I really enjoyed how lightweight these sheets felt. Some sateen sheets can feel thick and a bit heavier than cotton percale sheets. But these were very comfortable and didn’t overheat.

Sleeping Hot or Cold

Cotton is a great material for hot sleepers, and many cooling sheets will feature it. The Quince Organic Sateen sheets are a good option for hot sleepers because cotton is super breathable.

And with these being a bit more lightweight, I can’t see them trapping heat! One other thing that helps with the breathability is the thread count.

The Quince sheets have a thread count of 300. But don’t let this number fool you; a high thread count isn’t always an indicator of high-end sheets.

With this lower thread count, the sheets are going to allow for airflow rather easily!

Care Instructions

The Quince Organic Sateen sheets are machine-washable! Here’s what Quince recommends:

  • Machine-wash in a cold water cycle with a mild detergent
  • Tumble dry on low heat
  • Quince notes that the sateen sheet set will also get softer with each wash.

Allergies

While not listed as a hypoallergenic set of sheets, the Quince Organic Sateen sheets shouldn’t trigger any allergies for those with sensitive allergies or skin. Cotton doesn’t trap allergens, and these sheets can be machine washed to remove dirt, dust mites, sweat, and anything else in your sleep environment.

Company Policies

Here’s what you can expect when you order a set of sheets from Quince.

Set Includes

The Quince Organic Sateen sheets come in all bed sizes except for a twin XL and a split king. For this review, I received the queen size set in white. Here’s what the set included:

  • Two pillowcases
  • A top/flat sheet
  • One fitted sheet

It’s worth pointing out that Quince offers different sets that include just a fitted sheet and two pillowcases. If you want a full set of sheets, be sure to purchase the set that includes a top sheet.

Quince offers this set in a range of colors for those looking for a bit of variety or looking to match a color scheme.

Return Policy

You have a full year to make returns or exchanges! This will give you plenty of time to get a feel for these sheets. Quince also offers free shipping on all orders and returns.

How Do the Quince Sateen Sheets Compare To Other Sheets?

There are many quality sheets out on the market. Some use different materials while others use the same material in different weave styles. Let’s compare the Quince Organic Sateen sheets to a set of cotton percale sheets from Boll & Branch, and a set of linen sheets from Brooklinen.

Quince vs Boll & Branch

Percale sheet sets tend to feel very crisp. Think of a freshly pressed button-up shirt. That’s a similar feeling to percale sheets, and it’s what you’ll feel in the Boll & Branch Hemmed Percale sheets.

A man sleeps on his side with the Boll & Branch Percale Hemmed Sheets.

Both Quince and Boll & Branch take part in sourcing high-quality, GOTS certified cotton, but the feel is the main difference between these sheets. Both will sleep relatively cool thanks to a low thread count or Boll & Branch’s use of a special cooling weave.
But for those on a budget, Quince has the more affordable price point.

Quince vs Brooklinen

Linen sheets are some of the oldest styles of sheets out there. And we love the Brooklinen Linen Core Sheet set here at Mattress Clarity. Linens are great for hot sleepers because they’re super breathable, but they have the added benefit of being moisture-wicking, too. This means you’ll have a cool night’s sleep and avoid night sweats.

A hand brushes across the Brooklinen Linen Sheets.

Linens have a coarse texture to them, so those who are more familiar with cotton, stick with the ultra-soft Quince sheets. Both are great at being temperature-regulating thanks to the breathability.

And again, budget-minded shoppers should opt for the Quince sheets.
