Based on looks alone, the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Mattress is downright luxurious. The quilted Euro top on this lofty 14-inch mattress is striking—the smooth cashmere-blend cover is dark navy with silver metallic polka dots and sewn in a scalloped pattern. That touch of luxury is evident elsewhere too, like in the tri-zoned support designed to better bolster the back and hips and the cooling phase change material for combatting heat retention. But looks aside, how do the materials and construction in the DreamCloud Luxe affect its firmness, durability, and performance? We conducted a series of tests to find out.
The Mattress Clarity team of expert mattress testers has evaluated more than 500 mattresses and steered over 35,000 people to the right bed for their needs and preferences in the seven years we’ve been in operation. For this mattress review, we used that experience to assess the DreamCloud Luxe and make recommendations about what type of sleeper might find this all-foam mattress comfortable and supportive. With its medium-firm feel, pressure-relieving memory foam layers, and standout motion isolation, we think it’s quite compatible with most side sleepers and couples.
The DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam is a good option for couples who don’t want to wake each other up at night when readjusting. Its motion isolation was its standout feature during testing, and its 14-inch height also lends it a luxurious vibe. On the other hand, its cooling and responsiveness scores were below average.
DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Mattress Performance: My Overall Rating
After completing our comprehensive testing methodology, we gave the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Mattress an overall rating of 3.7 stars. That’s a reflection of its high scores in motion isolation and pressure relief and low marks for cooling and edge support.
Keep scrolling for details on the Luxe’s overall performance in our DreamCloud mattress review. For more information on individual categories, hover over a performance metric below to read a quick definition.
I Recommend the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam For…
- Average-weight side sleepers – Despite its slightly firmer feel in this position, the mattress has just enough cushioning and sinkage to comfortably cradle the hips and shoulders.
- Couples in search of motion isolation – Bed partners who are easily disturbed by movement in the bed will appreciate the excellent motion isolation in this all-foam bed.
- Light and average-weight stomach sleepers – The zoned support means plenty of hip support for proper spinal alignment, which can help with back pain.

I Don’t Recommend the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam For…
- People with mobility issues – The mattress offers lackluster edge support, which makes it harder to get in and out of bed.
- Combination sleepers – While it has a firmer feel, it doesn’t have much bounce so switching positions takes some effort.
- Hot sleepers – Even with the phase change material, the thick quilted top and memory foam layers mean heat builds and makes the mattress less breathable.
How Firm Is the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Mattress?

DreamCloud describes its Luxe Memory Foam Mattress as a medium-firm model, or a 6.5, which is ranked on a firmness scale of 10. The lower the number, the softer the mattress. The higher the number, the firmer the mattress. We found this number to be accurate when we tested the mattress in the back- and stomach-sleeping positions.
Mattress Clarity tester Kayla Godfrey falls in the average-weight category (between 130 and 230 pounds). On her back, she said that the DreamCloud mattress felt good overall, but she noticed a little sinkage in the lower body. Over the entire night, that can mean pressure on the lower back. Heavier sleepers are likely to experience deeper sinkage and more pressure, so we would advise a mattress with more support to ensure proper spinal alignment if you want to avoid back pain.
On her stomach, Kayla perceived the Luxe to be the same firmness but it worked better for hip elevation because there wasn’t as much sinkage. But when she switched to her side, she found the mattress a touch firmer — a 7 on the firmness scale. Despite its firm feel, it worked well. “I was surprised how much I liked lying in this position because the bed feels like a firm mattress, but it had just the right amount of cushioning and sinkage,” she said.
Keep in mind that different weight classes perceive firmness differently, and sleeping position likewise plays a role. Check out the Mattress Clarity firmness guide for more details.

“I’m really surprised how much pain relief I am experiencing with this mattress on my side because typically I like a softer mattress.” – Kayla Godfrey
DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam In-Depth Test Results
Pressure Relief
A mattress with strong pressure relief distributes body weight well, which allows the hips and shoulders to sink in slightly while keeping lighter parts of the body supported. It’s a combination that keeps pressure point pain from building. Memory foam is a great material for this feature, which is why the DreamCloud Luxe earned one of its highest scores. We tested for pressure relief in both the side and back sleeping position, and the DreamCloud Luxe got an average score of 4/5 stars.
“The side pressure relief is great on this mattress,” noted Kayla. “My hips are sinking in just enough to make my spine feel aligned. There is slight pressure in my shoulder but nothing a good lofty pillow can’t fix.” She added that she typically prefers a softer mattress, so it was a nice surprise. Kayla gave the DreamCloud full marks for pressure relief in this position.

On her back, the Luxe didn’t perform quite as well. Kayla said it wasn’t as cushioned or comfortable, though it still offered good support. “There is a little too much sinkage in my lower region, which is creating slight pressure in my lower back,” she said. But the bigger issue is that the longer she rested in this position, the more she sank. And because the memory foam layers and thick Euro top respond so slowly, Kayla didn’t feel cradled or supported when she shifted around. She gave the Luxe 3 stars in this position and said it’s not the best mattress for combination sleepers.
Edge Support
Edge support is an important category for anyone who has the kind of mobility issues that make getting in and out of bed difficult. Couples who like room to stretch out also tend to do better on a mattress with sturdy sides. Memory foam and all-foam constructions aren’t generally synonymous with edge support, and that was the case here. The DreamCloud Luxe earned 3/5 stars in this category.

Kayla tested the DreamCloud Luxe by sitting on the edge with her feet on the floor. She assessed stability from a seated position and as she rose to standing. In both instances, she felt a little precarious. “When I sat down there was moderate sinkage and I felt like I was going to slide off,” she reported. And since the Luxe has little to no bounce, rising to a standing position took some effort, earning just 2/5 stars. Older adults or those with mobility issues may find the DreamCloud Luxe too unstable in this regard and might want to consider a hybrid mattress.
Things improved dramatically when Kayla tested edge support by lying on the side of the mattress. “The edge support was very supportive and made me feel secure while lying in multiple positions,” she said. “There was not much sinkage overall and I was surprised by how well it held up.” She gave the mattress 4/5 stars.

In our third test, Kayla used three stacks of weighted plates to assess sinkage on the side of the mattress. Each stack represents a different weight class: light, medium, and heavy. From lightest to heaviest, the stacks sank 4, 6, and 7 inches, earning scores of 4/5, 3/5, and 2/5.
Cooling
Overheating is a common sleep complaint, and memory foam is fairly notorious for holding onto body heat. The material is dense and it doesn’t wick moisture well or maintain good airflow, so it tends to create a microclimate that can quickly lead to overheating. That was the case here, with the DreamCloud Luxe earning its worst score — just 2.5/5 stars.

Kayla used a thermal gun to measure the starting temperature of the mattress. It was 75.2 degrees Fahrenheit. She lay on the bed for seven minutes, then took its temperature again. The surface increased by 13.5 degrees, which is a fairly significant change. It also aligned with Kayla’s personal experience. “It wasn’t hot overall, but it did feel warm and not very breathable,” she said. According to the brand, the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Mattress has phase change material woven into its surface and gel-infused foam throughout, but it didn’t appear to be enough to offset the thick Euro top and heat retention in the memory foam layer.
Motion Isolation
Motion isolation doesn’t matter to everyone, but it’s really important for light sleepers who share the bed with any kind of partner. When a mattress isolates motion well, it keeps movement on one side of the bed from being transferred to the other side. In practical terms, that means one person isn’t jostled awake because their bed partner rolls over or gets back into bed after a middle-of-the-night bathroom visit. Memory foam does a great job of dampening motion, and that was evident here. The DreamCloud Luxe earned its highest score with 4.3/5 stars based on three separate tests.
In our first test, we placed a glass of water on one side of the bed while our tester climbed in and out on the other side. There was little movement in the water, and the glass itself was very stable, earning 4/5 stars.
We used the glass of water in our second test as well. This time, we observed it as our tester switched between different sleeping positions (back to side). “The water and motion isolation was the same as the seated position,” said Kayla. “The water moved slightly and the glass barely shook.” That performance earned the DreamCloud Luxe another 4 stars.

In our final motion isolation test, we replaced the glass of water with another tester, who got in and out of bed and vigorously changed positions. While Kayla (who lay blindfolded on one side of the mattress) detected a bit of movement on the opposite side, she didn’t feel a rocking sensation. She said there was zero bounce and she felt completely undisturbed, so she gave the DreamCloud mattress 5/5 stars for this test. Overall, we think the motion isolation is impressive and appropriate even for light sleepers.
Response
Memory foam has a signature sunken sensation that’s the result of the material responding to heat and pressure. As it softens, it molds around the body’s curves. That’s great for pressure relief, but it limits responsiveness, or how quickly a mattress snaps back to its original shape. The DreamCloud Luxe earned 3/5 stars in this category.
Kayla tested responsiveness by placing a 43-pound kettlebell on the surface and letting it sit for seven seconds. She used a timer to see how long it took the mattress to rebound. The DreamCloud Luxe took multiple seconds, which indicates a very slow response time. That earned the Luxe just 1/5 stars.

When Kayla tested responsiveness by lying on the mattress and switching positions, she found it a little challenging to move around. It’s a slightly firmer mattress, but “the top feels like a thick quilt with a memory foam topper.” For combination sleepers, that’s likely going to impede movement somewhat, which could make it hard to comfortably change position. Those folks might want to consider the hybrid mattress version of the Luxe, the DreamCloud Luxe Hybrid.
Sinkage: Moderate
We used the same kettlebell to see how far the surface layers of the DreamCloud Luxe sink under pressure. We measured a depth of 3.25 inches, which qualifies as moderate sinkage. You can expect pretty decent contouring with this mattress.

Bounce: Low/Moderate/High
All-foam beds made with memory foam aren’t generally known for their bounce—that tendency is more likely with innerspring and hybrid mattresses. So we were pleasantly surprised with the performance here. We dropped a weighted medicine ball onto the DreamCloud mattress from a six-foot height and measured a bounce of 13.5 inches. That’s considered moderate bounce, but just barely. Low bounce is 12 inches or under. Still, it was enough to earn a score of 5/5.
Noise
Despite pressing, jumping, and rolling around on the bed, our testers weren’t able to elicit any sounds at all—not even the low hiss of air escaping foam. If you prefer an absolutely silent mattress, the DreamCloud Luxe delivers. It earned 5/5 stars in this category.
Sex
Our sex score for mattresses is the average of responsiveness, edge support, and noise scores. The DreamCloud Luxe earned 3.7/5, which is just okay. The longer pressure is applied, the more the mattress sinks, which could be an issue for sexual partners. Its edge support is lackluster, which could limit the space couples have to work with, and its memory foam layers could lead to overheating as well. The best mattress for sex typically responds quickly, offers excellent stability around the perimeter, and stays cool so couples can focus on each other.
Adjustable Base Compatibility
Despite its 14-inch height, the DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Mattress conformed incredibly well to the adjustable base in our testing studio. It has the flexibility to move well with the base as the head or foot are angled, and we didn’t notice any gaps.
DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Customer Experience Scores
A new mattress is a big purchase, and it can be nerve wracking to spend all that money before seeing it in person. Familiarizing yourself with a company’s policies and setting general expectations about shipping, delivery, and the unboxing and off-gassing experience can be a good way to alleviate some of the concerns of buying an online mattress.
Trial Period
DreamCloud offers one of the most generous sleep trials in the business. You get 365 days — a full year — to test the company’s mattresses in the comfort of your own home. That means assessing comfort, support, and performance through different seasons for the most accurate idea of whether a particular mattress truly meets your needs. Since a 365-night trial is the best you’ll find, we gave it 5/5 stars.
Warranty
DreamCloud’s “forever” warranty is as generous as its sleep trial, protecting against manufacturer defects for the entire time you own the mattress. But it’s worth reading through the fine print. In the event of a defect during the first 10 years, DreamCloud will replace your mattress. After the first 10 years, the company will repair and re-cover or replace it at its own discretion. You’ll be responsible for a $50 transportation cost both ways.
Note that the lifetime warranty is void if you don’t use an appropriate base beneath your mattress or you don’t have proof of your original purchase.
DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam Construction
As part of our testing methodology, we always cut through the cover on the side of each new mattress so we can see the individual layers for ourselves.
Mattress Height & Weight

The DreamCloud Luxe is a 14” mattress. A queen size weighs about 90 pounds.
Materials
There are five layers, plus a quilted cover and bottom cover, in this all-foam mattress. The Euro top includes a memory foam layer and cooling fibers.
Layers

Just below the CloudQuilt+ Euro top is a layer of phase change material intended to regulate temperature. That goes over the contouring memory foam, which is responsible for the pressure relief in this DreamCloud mattress.
In the support layer, three zones of Certipur-US certified, high-quality foam with different densities deliver firmer support in the center third of the mattress. A thick stabilizing layer at the base of the mattress boosts stability, reduces motion transfer, and offers structure and durability to the layers of memory foam above. The protective bottom cover includes a built-in fire retardant.

DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam vs. Nectar Classic
Nectar and DreamCloud are actually both owned by Resident Home, and there are a lot of similarities between the brands. The Nectar Classic is Nectar’s flagship memory mattress, and it’s considered a budget-friendly buy. It shares a similar firmness (7 out of 10), but it’s shorter at 12 inches. During testing, it performed better in cooling, motion isolation, and responsiveness, but the DreamCloud Luxe outperformed the Classic in pressure relief.
The Classic lacks the slow-moving feel of traditional memory foam, and it’s not a great fit for strict side sleepers. But we think it works well for fans of a balanced foam feel, back sleepers, and value shoppers.

DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam vs. Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud
The Tempur-Pedic Tempur-Cloud is available in a medium all-foam feel or a medium hybrid design (which includes spring coils for better edge support and greater ease of movement). The Mattress Clarity tested the hybrid model, which has more of a classic memory foam feel with a little extra bounce. Like the DreamCloud Luxe, there’s a generous comfort layer in the Tempur-Cloud that gives it a luxurious feel. But the coil layer makes it easier to move around, so it’s a better option for combination sleepers.

DreamCloud Luxe Memory Foam vs. Leesa Original
The Leesa Original is another all-foam mattress, but it’s more of an entry-level model. At 10” tall, it lacks the luxurious upgrades of the DreamCloud Luxe. That’s reflected in the price tag, which is under $1,000 for a queen during the brand’s very frequent sales. The Leesa is more responsive than the Luxe, but we weren’t overly impressed with its edge support or cooling ability.
