  1. What would you say is the firmest and most supportive mattress you’ve tried? I’ve been making my way through mattresses (T&N, Brooklyn Bedding, Aviya) and I feel like I’m moving in the right direction but the firms all ended up a little softer than I’d like and caused me back pain. I wonder if switching to a simpler spring mattress would do the trick, but the warranties are never as good as the online companies.

  2. Hi Joe
Love your website. I’m leaning toward a Loom & Leaf.
I have noticed all the mattresses that now ship in a box. For the most part these seem to be cheaper.
What are the advantage or disadvantage to buying a mattress that comes in a box?

    • Hi Jim – note Loom & Leaf does not come in a box. But to your question – big advantage is that it’s cheaper to ship. So you hope that some of that cost savings is passed on to you. Major disadvantage is a smell that happens called off-gassing as the mattress decompresses.

  3. Hi, after a ton of research, tons! I ordered and have received the Loom and Leaf mattress. It is not as pictured on their website. The pillow top is different. Very different. The middle section, lumbar section, has lots of small bumps and I can feel them when I lay on the mattress. The mattress itself is very supportive and my back is happy. I called twice and spoke to 2 different people at the company. Oh the design changed, but should feel the same. It does not. I can feel the bumps laying on the mattress. Any ideas? The photo on their website has a smooth and much more appealing look to it. The look I thought I was buying. That is the mattress I want and thought I bought. Do you know if they will go back to that design? They don’t know. Maybe I just need to keep calling until I get someone who has more info and is more helpful. Thanks for any input you may have 🙂 I do love the support of this mattress!

  4. Joe, how does the Amerisleep Liberty compare to the Tempurpedic Contour Elite? How do the two beds each rate on the firmness scale?
How would you rate the Amerisleep Independence and the Tempurpedic Flex Supreme on the firmess scale?

I an strongly considering ordering either a Liberty or an Independence, so answers to these questions would help a ton. Thanks so much in advance.

  5. hi Joe,

    Great work on the site

My gf can get a king Plush Bed 12″ Eco Bliss for the same price as a Brooklyn Bedding king. Should I get the Eco Bliss? I am not sure if I can return it…

I’m between that and the Brooklyn bed. They’re the same price but I could return the Brooklyn …

    Thanks for your help!

  6. Could you please send me your telephone number. I would like to discuss your mattress types. My husband has special needs, so I need a few questions answered.
Thank you so much. Your company sounds very unique and delightful.
    Sincerely, Susan Garamella

    • Hi Susan – I don’t actually sell any mattresses, I only review them (all are from many different companies). Let me know if you have any questions though in the comments, I’m happy to get you pointed in the right direction!

  7. Just wanted to thank you for your insight. I found it to be very helpful in determining a new bed for my wife and I. Keep up the good work and may good health be yours always.

  8. I have been doing trying to figure out what mattress to go with and blurry eyed and tired. I’m 130lbs and a side sleeper. My husband is 300lbs. and a side/back sleeper. We both suffer from chronic back pain and arthritis. I was looking at the Layla because of the copper infused memory foam. Do you think it would support my husbands weight? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    • Hi Sandra! The copper is a cool feature, but I think for a 300 lb person Layla won’t be the best choice. It’s a bit soft for an average weight, so a higher weight will probably make it far too soft. If you really like the copper, Nest Bedding has a few copper-infused options that will probably be better support for a heavier person.

  9. We’ve had a sleep number for 15 years! I suffer from some mild back pain typical with getting old. We are really interesting in moving into a L&L Mattress. Do you think we can do this comfortably?

Thanks for all your time spent on these reviews.

  10. Thank you for doing so much research! I have ordered a saatva but looking at the comments below your saatva page am starting to get nervous. I want a little (not too much) sinking in feeling, I want the bounce of coils and firm but not rock hard. I’m staring to second guess that I should have gone with winkbed instead. Since my saatva has not been delivered, I could cancel my order. The price differential is not enough to sway me either way – bottom line is I want comfort, good sleep, support and a bed that will hold up for a good many years. In your opinion, which bed have I more closely described?
