Sleeping with Bearaby Napper Weighted Blanket
Now, I’ve seen a fair number of weighted blankets out there. Some have covers, some come as is, some are full of glass beads… they all start to blend together after a while. But the Tree Napper came along and shook that up.
Because of its knit design, this blanket is incredibly breathable and the airflow in this blanket is unmatched. Hot sleepers will never have to worry about overheating underneath this blanket.
In terms of weight distribution, even though it lacks fillers, I really felt the weight all around me.
How Much Does Bearaby Napper Weighted Blanket Weigh?
The Bearaby Tree Napper comes in a few different weight options. For this review, we tested the 15lb option, but there are also 20lb and 25lb options. The variety of weight options will be good for most body types!
If you’re not sure which weight option is best for you, the general rule of thumb is to take 10% of your body weight, add or subtract a pound or two, and you’ll have your ideal weight. So, with that said, the Bearaby Tree Napper should work well for people who weigh between 150lbs and 250lbs.

Bearaby Napper Weighted Blanket Performance
So we’ve been saying how unique this blanket is, but let’s see how it performed!
Sleeping Hot or Cold
With the large knit loops, and with fabric that is known for being breathable and moisture-wicking, sleeping hot with the Bearaby Tree Napper just won’t happen.
That’s not to say this blanket is completely cold. If you’re looking to warm up, the Tree Napper is still a blanket after all. When I tested this blanket out, I felt quite comfortable underneath, and when I changed positions, the loops opened up and let some air in.
It still provides exceptional weight distribution, and it can keep you fairly comfortable at the same time! The Bearaby Napper is seriously one of our best weighted blankets!
However, if you are looking for a weighted blanket that keeps you warm, don’t worry. Bearaby does have a blanket just for that: the Bearaby Cotton Napper.
Care Instructions
When it comes to weighted blankets, care instructions can vary from one extreme to another. Is it spot clean only, or can the whole blanket be put into the washing machine?
With the Bearaby Tree Napper, there’s really no head scratching involved here. The whole blanket is machine-washable! When it gets dirty, simply place it in the washing machine.
For the best care, Bearaby recommends that you machine wash it alone with cold water on a delicate or permanent-press setting with mild or eco-friendly detergent. Then, you can tumble dry on low.
Bearaby does mention, however, you might need to have it on a dry cycle more than once, and they do not recommend you hang dry it. That could cause the knit loops to stretch.
Allergies/Allergens?
Bearaby uses tencel fabric in the Tree Napper. While not listed as a hypoallergenic blanket, we don’t anticipate this blanket triggering allergies.

The fabric used in this blanket is called tencel, which is a fabric that’s derived from eucalyptus fibers. This fabric is soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking. The fabric is then hand-knit into this open loop structure.

Starting with the most obvious, the construction of these two blankets is the most different. Beraby’s napper blankets have no fillers, and they have that unique loose knit structure. The Sleep Number True Temp is more of a duvet style weighted blanket with an outer cover and a blanket inside. The cover is the only part of this blanket that is machine washable.
The Bearaby Tree Napper is made entirely of tencel fabric, while the Sleep Number True Temp’s cover is made of a blend of cotton and polyester. However, it’s infused with Sleep Number’s 37.5 active particle technology. This is designed to be temperature regulating.

Bearaby vs. Luxome Cooling Weighted Blanket
Now, we’ll take a look at another weighted blanket that shouldn’t make you overheat: the Luxome Cooling Weighted Blanket.
Construction is where these two blankets mostly differ. The Luxome is a blanket with a duvet cover, while the Bearaby Tree Napper is a knitted blanket.
What makes the Luxome a cooling weighted blanket is that it is constructed with bamboo-based lyocell fabric. This fabric, like tencel fabric, is designed to be temperature regulating and moisture-wicking. While it doesn’t have the open loop structure to promote airflow, no one should feel hot sleeping under this blanket.
Both blankets are 100% machine-washable, but in terms of weight options, more differences arise. As mentioned, the Bearaby Tree Napper comes in 15, 20, and 25lb options, while the Luxome has 8, 15, 18, and 30lb options. This makes the Tree Napper more accessible to a wide variety of average and heavier adults, while the Luxome reaches more average to light weight adults. Their 8lb blanket is intended for children.
